    The Vector Curvaton

We analyze a massive vector field with a non-canonical kinetic term in the action, minimally coupled to gravity, where the mass and kinetic function of the vector field vary as functions of time during inflation. The vector field is introduced following the same idea of a scalar curvaton, which must not affect the inflationary dynamics since its energy density during inflation is negligible compared to the total energy density in the Universe. Using this hypothesis, the vector curvaton will be solely responsible for generating the primordial curvature perturbation \zeta. We have found that the spectra of the vector field perturbations are scale-invariant in superhorizon scales due to the suitable choice of the time dependence of the kinetic function and the effective mass during inflation. The preferred direction, generated by the vector field, makes the spectrum of \zeta depend on the wavevector, i.e. there exists statistical anisotropy in \zeta. This is discussed principally in the case where the mass of the vector field increases with time during inflation, where it is possible to find a heavy field (M >> H) at the end of inflation, making the particle production be practically isotropic; thus, the longitudinal and transverse spectra are nearly the same order which in turn causes that the statistical anisotropy generated by the vector field is within the observational bounds.Comment: LaTex file in Aipproc style, 6 pages, no figures. Non-Abelian SS-term dark energy and inflation

We study the role that a cosmic triad in the generalized SU(2)SU(2) Proca theory, specifically in one of the pieces of the Lagrangian that involves the symmetric version SμνS_{\mu \nu} of the gauge field strength tensor FμνF_{\mu \nu}, has on dark energy and primordial inflation. Regarding dark energy, the triad behaves asymptotically as a couple of radiation perfect fluids whose energy densities are negative for the SS term but positive for the Yang-Mills term. This leads to an interesting dynamical fine-tuning mechanism that gives rise to a combined equation of state parameter ω1\omega \simeq -1 and, therefore, to an eternal period of accelerated isotropic expansion for an ample spectrum of initial conditions. Regarding primordial inflation, one of the critical points of the associated dynamical system can describe a prolonged period of isotropic slow-roll inflation sustained by the SS term. This period ends up when the Yang-Mills term dominates the energy density leading to the radiation dominated epoch. Unfortunately, in contrast to the dark energy case, the primordial inflation scenario is strongly sensitive to the coupling constants and initial conditions. The whole model, including the other pieces of the Lagrangian that involve SμνS_{\mu \nu}, might evade the recent strong constraints coming from the gravitational wave signal GW170817 and its electromagnetic counterpart GRB 170817A.Comment: LaTeX file in RevTeX 4.1 style, 8 pages, 20 figures. v2: several changes here and there to improve the overall presentation of the paper. This paper assesses the degree of credibility of the Irish Pound in the European Monetary System between 1983 and 1997. Different credibility indicators proposed in the literature are used to measure agents’ perceptions of the credibility of the ERM commitment in an attempt to distinguish between events stemming from problems in the ERM itself and those that appear to have been exclusive to Ireland.

Time Series Heterogeneous Co-execution on CPU+GPU

Time series motif (similarities) and discords discovery is one of the most important and challenging problems nowadays for time series analytics. We use an algorithm called “scrimp” that excels in collecting the relevant information of time series by reducing the computational complexity of the searching. Starting from the sequential algorithm we develop parallel alternatives based on a variety of scheduling policies that target different computing devices in a system that integrates a CPU multicore and an embedded GPU. These policies are named Dynamic -using Intel TBB- and Static -using C++11 threads- when targeting the CPU, and they are compared to a heterogeneous adaptive approach named LogFit -using Intel TBB and OpenCL- when targeting the co-execution on the CPU and GPU.Universidad de Málaga. The purpose of this investigation was to analyze the differences in general and specific throwing capacity of handball players as a function of the age category. Differences between throwing velocity to goal without and with opposition have also been addressed. Ninety four handball senior and U-18 players were assessed in four different situations of throwing: 1) heavy medicine ball throw, 2) light medicine ball throw, 3) throwing velocity without opposition and 4) throwing velocity with opposition. Senior players were found to perform far better than the U-18 players in all four throwing situations (p<0.001; t1=6.958; t2=8.244; t3=8.059; t4=5.399; df=92).Throwing velocity was higher without than with opposition for both groups; the throwing velocity of the senior group was 7.79% lower (p<0.01; t=8.317; df=47) when there was opposition, whereas U-18 players’ velocity lowered by 6.03% (p<0.01; t=4.469; df=45). The results suggest that age can be a determining factor in handball players’ throwing capacity, both general and specific. Likewise, the presence and interference of a goalkeeper appears to affect throwing velocity in a negative way, especially in senior player

The verification of the protagonism and relevance that the performances around the social exclusion are getting paid inside the municipal environment, as well as the changes in the position of the actions to develop and in their objectives, it has taken to look for an instrument that allows to deepen in the quality of the actions that you/they develop the Public Administrations. If they wish to operate in a stable manner, by using the most efficient option – unaccompanied transport – they must modify their profile with the aim of obtaining the greatest cost-effectiveness. The aim of this work is to analyse this process of change by studying five international road haulage companies that have undertaken such an adaptation in order to become multimodal logistics operators. The findings of the research show four key areas of change: restructuring of the fleet, restructuring of the workforce of drivers, changes in the business model, and setting up a structure in the destination countr

A Hot Downflowing Model Atmosphere For Umbral Flashes And The Physical Properties Of Their Dark Fibrils

We perform NLTE inversions in a large set of umbral flashes, including the dark fibrils visible within them, and in the quiescent umbra by using the inversion code NICOLE on a set of full Stokes high-resolution Ca II 8542 A observations of a sunspot at disk center. We find that the dark structures have Stokes profiles that are distinct from those of the quiescent and flashed regions. They are best reproduced by atmospheres that are more similar to the flashed atmosphere in terms of velocities, even if with reduced amplitudes. We also find two sets of solutions that finely fit the flashed profiles: a set that is upflowing, featuring a transition region that is deeper than in the quiescent case and preceded by a slight dip in temperature, and a second solution with a hotter atmosphere in the chromosphere but featuring downflows close to the speed of sound at such heights. Such downflows may be related, or even dependent, on the presence of coronal loops, rooted in the umbra of sunspots, as is the case in the region analyzed. Similar loops have been recently observed to have supersonic downflows in the transition region and are consistent with the earlier "sunspot plumes" which were invariably found to display strong downflows in sunspots. Finally we find, on average, a magnetic field reduction in the flashed areas, suggesting that the shock pressure is moving field lines in the upper layers.Comment: Accepted in June for publication at ApJ.
