La Guerra Civil Española entusiasmó la imaginación creadora de los intelectuales en general y de los poetas ingleses en particular. Ensayos, novelas, obras teatrales, artículos de periódicos..., proliferaron durante los tres años que duró la guerra. Muchos escritores llegaron a España para seguir los acontecimientos más de cerca, y muchos perdieron sus vidas en el campo de batalla. Pero el impacto emocional de la guerra puede verse especialmente en la poesía. Un buen número de poetas de habla inglesa -ingleses, irlandeses, norteamericanos, etc., producen una enorme cantidad de poemas que van desde contenidos de clara declaración política al lirismo más íntimo.The Spanish Civil War greatly excited the creative imagination of intellectuals in general and of English poets in particular. Essays, novels, theatrical works, newspaper articles, and son on, proliferated during the three years that the war lasted. Many writers came to Spain to follow the events more closely, and a good many lost their lives on the battlefield. But the emotional impact of the war can be seen especially in poetry. A good number of English-speaking poets -British, Irish, North American, etc.-produced an enormous quantity of poems ranging in content from bald political statement to the most intimate lyricism

Topological defects and misfit strain in magnetic stripe domains of lateral multilayers with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Stripe domains are studied in perpendicular magnetic anisotropy films nanostructured with a periodic thickness modulation that induces the lateral modulation of both stripe periods and inplane magnetization. The resulting system is the 2D equivalent of a strained superlattice with properties controlled by interfacial misfit strain within the magnetic stripe structure and shape anisotropy. This allows us to observe, experimentally for the first time, the continuous structural transformation of a grain boundary in this 2D magnetic crystal in the whole angular range. The magnetization reversal process can be tailored through the effect of misfit strain due to the coupling between disclinations in the magnetic stripe pattern and domain walls in the in-plane magnetization configuration

Study about the social network presence and use of the communication agencies with the largest turnover in Spain

Las agencias de comunicación son empresas que se mueven en el terreno de las relaciones públicas, la publicidad, la comunicación audiovisual y el periodismo. Estas empresas deberían ser líderes en el uso de las nuevas herramientas de comunicación. En este artículo se han estudiado las agencias de comunicación que más facturan en España para comprobar si, efectivamente, hacen un buen uso de las nuevas tecnologías de la comunicación, especialmente de las redes sociales. Hemos descubierto que las empresas aquí estudiadas deberían tener más actividad en redes sociales y en el mundo online en general. No crean contenidos específicos para sus diferentes redes, consiguen poco feedback por parte de sus seguidores, si bien es cierto que todas tienen perfiles en Facebook, Twitter, además de blogs

The Power of Graphic Novels in EFL Classroom: A proposal including MAUS A Survivor's Tale and PBLL in a 4th year of ESO

Este trabajo ofrece una propuesta didáctica innovadora que implemente la novela gráfica de Art Spiegelman MAUS A Survivor’s Tale (1996) como herramienta pedagógica principal en la asignatura de inglés como segunda lengua en una clase de 4º de la ESO. La razón de ser de este ensayo emerge debido al deseo de demostrar que la literatura puede llegar a ser una herramienta pedagógica útil que ayude a potenciar el pensamiento crítico y la reflexión personal en las clases de EFL. Para demostrar dicha teoría, la primera parte de este trabajo trata de explicar los diferentes pilares teóricos que componen la unidad didáctica: el Enfoque Comunicativo, el Aprendizaje por Proyectos y la importancia de la literatura y, más concretamente, de la novela gráfica en la enseñanza del inglés. Asimismo, la segunda parte del trabajo consiste en exponer el análisis crítico de la propuesta didáctica, así como la relevancia de dicha propuesta en concordancia con los objetivos, las competencias claves y los contenidos específicos estipulados por el Currículo Aragonés y la LOMCE. En relación al marco legislativo, el trabajo busca exponer la relevancia de las actividades propuestas en lo que respecta al trabajo cooperativo y la atención a la diversidad.<br /

Cultura democrática de género: discriminación, cuotas de género y simulación

Es indudable que en los últimos años se ha dado, en general, un avance en la representación y/o participación de la mujer en las actividades políticas, esto se observa en la conformación por género en los diversos parlamentos en el mundo; sin embargo, su incorporación ha sido insuficiente para la tan pretendida igualdad y equidad de género; sigue predominando la reproducción de esquemas discriminatorios de participación típicamente masculinizados, lo que no contribuye a una distribución justa de derechos, oportunidades, recursos, responsabilidades y tareas, encaminadas a la generación de una cultura democrática de género. El objetivo del presente trabajo es mostrar algunos elementos de la discriminación que existe a nivel internacional y nacional en la representación parlamentaria de la mujer, que ha estado caracterizada, para el caso de México, por un aumento en las cuotas de género, lo cual provoca un fenómeno de simulación. Surge así la necesidad de contribuir en generar una cultura democrática de género que coadyuve a la disminución de las iniquidades de género. Y, por tanto, a un aumento no únicamente en la representación sino también en la participación de la mujer en la toma de decisiones

Fractura-luxación posterior de hombro tratada mediante la técnica de McLaughlin

Se presenta un caso de luxación posterior de hombro, con fractura por impactación de la cabeza humeral, ocasionada por crisis convulsivas. Estas lesiones no son fáciles de reconocer en los primeros momentos, y en nuestro caso se precisó de un estudio radiográfico en distintas proyecciones y una TAC. Se realizó tratamiento quirúrgico mediante la técnica original de McLaughlin. A los 7 meses de la intervención el paciente ha recuperado casi totalmente la movilidad en dicho hombro y está libre de dolor.A case of posterior dislocation of the shoulder with locked fracture of the humeral head after a convulsive seizure is reported. At first stages, this type is very difficult to recognize. In our case, a radiographic study in different views and a CT-scan were needed. Surgical treatment were carried out according to McLauglin's original technique. Seven months after surgery the patient had regained almost complete range of shoulder motion and was pain-free

Few-body decay and recombination in nuclear astrophysics

Three-body continuum problems are investigated for light nuclei of astrophysical relevance. We focus on three-body decays of resonances or recombination via resonances or the continuum background. The concepts of widths, decay mechanisms and dynamic evolution are discussed. We also discuss results for the triple $\alpha$ decay in connection with $2^+$ resonances and density and temperature dependence rates of recombination into light nuclei from $\alpha$-particles and neutrons.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures. Caracterización del interfaz forestal/urbano empleando LiDAR como herramienta para la estimación del riesgo de daños por incendios forestales

[EN] Galicia is a region in NW Spain which is usually affected by a high number of forest fires, and it should meet the current regulations regarding the distance between forests and buildings. This paper aims to identify and characterize woodlands and classify buildings according to their fire risk, for a 36 km2 area in Forcarei (Pontevedra, Spain). We used LiDAR data to generate three spatial models (DTM: Digital Terrain Model, DSM: Digital Surface Model and nDSM: Normalized Digital Surface Model) and two statistics to characterize the forest stands (density of dominant trees per hectare and their average height). The identification of forested areas was performed using an object-based classification method using the intensity image, the height model and an orthophotograph of the area, and a kappa coefficient of 0.82 was obtained in the validation. The woodlands were reclassified according to the magnitude of a possible fire, based on the density and the average height of the woodlands. The forest stands were mapped according to the magnitude of a possible fire and it was found that 1.18 km2 would be susceptible to a low magnitude fire, 3.75 km2 to a medium magnitude fire and 2.25 km2 to a fire of a high magnitude. Afterwards, it was determined whether the buildings in the area complied with the legislation relating to minimum distance from the forested areas (30 meters). For those that did not meet this distance, the risk of damage in case of a wildfire was calculated. The result was that 43.01% of buildings in the area complied with the regulations, 9.95% were located in a very low risk area, 25.74% in a low risk location, 12.37% in a medium risk area and 8.93% were in a high or very high risk area.S

Implant treatment for a patient with aggressive periodontitis associated to diabetes mellitus. Clinical case report. Surgical phase

ABSTRACTDiabetes mellitus is a chronic degenerative disease characterized by a set of metabolic disorders and presence of hyperglycemia. When analyzing the effect of diabetes on implants, bone remodeling process alteration and deficient mineralization have been observed: these factors result in poorer bone integration. The aim of the present study was to describe surgical and implant treatment conducted in order to re-establish function and esthetics of a patient's periodontal and general circumstances. Resulting ridge (flange) preservation as well as elevation of the maxillary sinus achieved a suitable flange to place implants, by means of a tomographic surgical guide in preparation for further rehabilitation of implant-supported prostheses. As a conclusion we might propose that late diagnosis of aggressive periodontitis can lead to edentulism in young patients, which could be solved with endo-osseous implants
