La teoría de las inteligencias múltiples ha ampliado el concepto tradicional de inteligencia abriendo la posibilidad de considerar los aspectos emocionales y espirituales de la misma. El concepto de inteligencia espiritual ha sido recientemente propuesto por algunos autores, pero de una manera ecléctica e imprecisa. Este trabajo tiene por objetivo integrar y esclarecer dicho concepto, sentando las bases teóricas para el desarrollo de una serie de reactivos preliminares direccionados a la evaluación de la inteligencia espiritual.The theory of multiple intelligences has broadened the traditional concept of intelligence opening the possibility of considering the emotional and spiritual aspects of it. The concept of spiritual intelligence has recently been proposed by some authors, but in an eclectic and imprecise manner. LANA business plan: e-marketplace for service providers

In today's digital age there are new approaches and tools to address different social issues, and this market gap is not an exception. Currently, the process of matching supply and demand of these general services is cumbersome for both parties. Despite the existence of tools such as social media, there have been very rare cases of clear success, and no clear solution in the Portuguese market. After an initial and preliminary market analysis, a clear gap was identified between general service providers (e.g. electricians, plumbers, babysitters, house cleaning, etc.) and consumers of those services. Once this gap was identified, a thorough analysis of the situation was done and, from this analysis, the idea to develop a platform that helps link these two groups allowing them to easily access each other was born. The idea behind LANA is of an online platform (mobile app or website) where people can post the services they need provided and suppliers can cater to these needs. Therefore, the proposed project in LANA's Business Plan is an innovative business solution based on the observed market and behavioral trends. The increase in popularity of the sharing and gig economy is a clear opportunity and, aligned with the digital growth that is currently taking place, a differentiating offer can be launched onto the market. The project consists of the development of the marketing and operations components of the business. In the financial analysis, three different scenarios were evaluated in order to evaluate the possible levels of success. The developed model proves the economic viability of the project, indicating it is a project worthy of investment.A atual época digital oferece cada vez mais abordagens e ferramentas para abordar questões sociais, e este caso não é exceção. Atualmente, o processo de satisfazer a procura e oferta destes serviços gerais é uma tarefa pesada para ambos os participantes. Apesar da existência de ferramentas como as redes sociais, são raros os casos bem-sucedidos e não existe nenhuma solução clara no mercado Português. Uma primeira análise do mercado conduziu à identificação de um hiato no que concerne ao acesso facilitado entre os prestadores de serviços (e.g. eletricistas, canalizadores, baby-sitters, serviços de limpeza, etc.) e os consumidores desses mesmos serviços. Uma vez identificada esta lacuna, foi desenvolvida uma análise aprofundada da situação em causa, da qual surgiu a ideia de desenvolver uma plataforma que ajude a unir as duas partes, diminuindo o espaço que as separa. A ideia de fundo da LANA é uma plataforma online (aplicação móvel ou website) onde as pessoas podem expor os serviços que precisam que sejam prestados e os prestadores podem satisfazer essas necessidades. Desta feita, o projeto proposto no plano de negócios da LANA é uma solução inovadora que tem como base as tendências de mercado e comportamentais observadas. O aumento da popularidade do conceito de economia partilhada é uma oportunidade evidente que, alinhada com o atual crescimento, torna esta uma oferta diferenciadora que pode ser lançada no mercado. THE PERPETUATION OF EXTREME POVERTY AS A FACET OF THE GLOBAL STRUCTURAL DESIGN

ABSTRACT Objectives: The paper will try to refer to how International Law can help modify this perverse facet of global structural design (which is commonly pointed out as the source of much of the adversities that are imposed on the global poor) and thus strive to reduce inequality in a global extent, as International Law fails to guarantee that basic human needs are attained – not only in relation to food but as well as regarding health. Methodology: In this sense, the methodology used is based on bibliographical research, as well as doctrine and articles published in specialized journals.Results: The study of the conceptualization of the theory of global justice, what its objectives are and what it seeks to measure, with the conclusion that the responsibility evaluation of international institutes through the lens of a theory of global justice occurs simultaneously with the responsibility assessment of the individual at world level. They way towards a significante reduction in global inequality, therefore, is based on the protection of human rights and on the accountability of international institutions for possible violations of these same rights. Contributions: The study raises the question in what can be considered a global condition of justice, i.e., what is the global just. This is an extremely complex issue, whatever the possible response, basic human rights should not have their guarantees affected – they must be preserved. KEYWORDS: Global justice; international law; international economic law; responsibility. RESUMO Objetivos: O artigo tentará referir-se a como o Direito Internacional pode ajudar a modificar essa faceta perversa do projeto estrutural global (que é comumente apontado como a fonte de muitas das adversidades que são impostas aos pobres do mundo) e, assim, esforçar-se para reduzir a desigualdade de uma maneira geral, em âmbito global, pois o Direito Internacional falha em garantir que as necessidades humanas básicas sejam atendidas - não apenas em relação aos alimentos, mas também em relação à saúde. Metodologia: Nesse sentido, a metodologia utilizada é baseada em pesquisas bibliográficas, bem como em doutrinas e artigos publicados em periódicos especializados. Resultados: Conclui-se do estudo da conceitualização da teoria da justiça global (quais são seus objetivos e o que ela busca mensurar), que a avaliação de responsabilidade de institutos internacionais sob as lentes de uma teoria de justiça global ocorre simultaneamente com a avaliação de responsabilidade do indivíduo em âmbito mundial. O caminho para uma redução significativa da desigualdade global, portanto, baseia-se na proteção dos direitos humanos e na responsabilização das instituições internacionais por possíveis violações desses mesmos direitos. Contribuições: O estudo levanta a questão sobre o que pode ser considerado uma condição global de justiça, ou seja, qual é o justo global. Esta é uma questão extremamente complexa; seja qual for a resposta possível, os direitos humanos básicos não devem ter suas garantias afetadas - eles devem ser preservados.PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Justiça global; lei internacional; direito econômico internacional; responsabilidade

O presente artigo almeja abordar questões relacionadas à Estética e às Indústrias Culturais, questões que são referentes à primeira parte do projeto de Doutoramento intitulado: “A dimensão estética das Indústrias Culturais: processos de mediação na estruturação dos mercados criativos”. A palavra Estética foi introduzida por Baumgarten com o objetivo de explicar que é com a doutrina do Belo como perfeição sensível que nasce a estética. É possível apontar, dentro deste domínio, três orientações: a relação entre a arte e a natureza, a relação entre a arte e o homem e a função da arte. É possível apontar ainda quatro vertentes fundamentais, que concordam ou discordam sobre a identificação entre estética e filosofia da arte: pragmatista, estruturalista, hermenêutica e aesthetica. Regional imbalances and market potential in Brazil

Brazil presented in the last 30 years not only periods of economic growth but also crises and stagnation. The Brazilian regions’ performance (in face of the challenges and opportunities presented during this period) was not even at all, as we can see by the massive regional imbalances around the country. Various approaches have tried to understand this reality of economic activity spatial concentration. Among them, the emerging New Economic Geography (NEG). Could this theory comprehend and explain the regional unevenness on wages among Brazilian municipalities over the recent decades? Using 1980, 1991 and 2000 Brazilian Census data (at comparables municipalities areas), this paper aims to estimate the NEG wage equation, using panel data model with spatially correlated errors components. The results point to a strong relationship between market potential and wages, indicating that the NEG theoretical framework might be well fit to recent Brazilian municipalities’ reality.New economic geography, market potential, Brazil

Mine planning under uncertainty

The aim of this study is to develop a methodology that can contribute to the construction of scenarios for mine planning and to evaluation of the impact of geological uncertainties provided by simulated models. The approach suggested here includes the definition of a methodology to control and incorporate the local uncertainties associated with the ore in order to improve mine planning, assess the sensitivity of financial return and while considering the variations and uncertainty related to the geological model and grade estimation

Detección de problemas de drenaje en minas a cielo abierto y caminos de acarreo utilizando fotogrametría UAV

Open-pit mines generally have operational problems such as puddling and inappropriate water flow over haul roads, particularly if located in areas with high rainfall indices. These situations increase truck cycle times, promote rapid deterioration of haul-road wearing-course material, reduce productivity due to downtime and increase road maintenance. In addition, operational costs are raised as the frequency of truck maintenance and tire failures also increase. The use of a high-resolution three-dimensional elevation model, created based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry, has been shown to be an effective technique to detect anomalies in a fast and precise way. With the proposed approach, it is possible to diagnose haul-road conditions after rainfall or to anticipate the potential occurrence of such anomalies before they become a greater problem. This diagnosis can then be used to prioritize maintenance activities in open-pit mines. To describe the methodology, a case study is presented demonstrating and validating the results obtained.Las minas a cielo abierto generalmente tienen problemas operativos, como empozamiento y flujo de agua no apropiados en los caminos de acarreo, principalmente en minas ubicadas en áreas con altos índices de lluvia. Estas situaciones aumentan los tiempos de ciclo de los camiones, promueven el rápido deterioro de las carreteras de transporte ocasionando la reducción de productividad debido al aumento del tiempo de inactividad y de la frecuencia del mantenimiento de las carreteras. Además de eso, los costos operativos se incrementan una vez que aumenta la frecuencia del mantenimiento de los camiones y desgaste de los neumáticos. El uso de un modelo de elevación tridimensional de alta resolución, creado a partir fotogrametría de datos de vehículos aéreos no tripulados (UAV), ha demostrado ser una técnica eficaz para detectar anomalías de forma rápida y precisa. Con el enfoque propuesto, es posible diagnosticar las condiciones de los caminos de acarreo después de la lluvia, o anticipar el potencial de ocurrencia de tales anomalías antes de que se conviertan en un problema mayor. Este diagnóstico se puede utilizar para priorizar las actividades de mantenimiento en minas a cielo abierto. Influence of water level in mine sequencing applied to strategic mining planning

Developing mine sequencing involves a number of factors and a large amount of information, and consequently the profitability of the project will strongly depend on the production schedule. A mining project may be conditioned to non-optimal sequencing, which may affect the economic results of the project and also lead to an inadequate utilization of the mineral resources. The conventional method of mining sequencing is divided into three main steps: first, the delineation of the final pit; second, subdivision of the final pit in operational pushbacks (mining advances) and third, sequencing the blocks in each of these pushbacks, taking into consideration mine, processing plant and market capacities. However, there are some aspects that are not usually incorporated in production scheduling, including ore mining below groundwater level. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the relevance and impact on the results of the Net Present Value (NPV) from groundwater level as a constraint related to the need for its drawdown, also considering grades and Stripping Ratio (SR) variability during mining sequence for a phosphate mine. The results show a difference of U$ 140 million for the evaluation considering and not considering groundwater level, without considering other restrictions

“From the generalization where all false ideas come from”: criminals, scientists and the medical/juridical discourse about delinquency and punishment in the transition from the 19th to the 20th century

Este artigo aborda alguns dos diferentes aspectos que deram significado às discussões médico/jurídicas no Brasil, no período que corresponde à transição do século XIX para o século XX, momento em que elementos teórico-práticos de um movimento de caráter científico com bases na Escola Positiva de Direito Criminal italiana se contrapõem ao Direito Clássico até então praticado no país. Para tanto, partimos de uma análise cultural que visa identificar no processo de modernização e urbanização por que passou a cidade de Porto Alegre/RS o ambiente propício à difusão da ciência médico-legal que, sob diferentes enfoques, buscou identificar, sistematizar e agir sobre a delinquência e os seus agentes. São utilizadas diferentes fontes, entre elas os processos criminais, conside- rados neste trabalho como sendo o principal local em que se busca a articulação entre práticas discursivas e não discursivas, a fim de constatarmos que, através do processo de institucionalização da ciência criminológica de caráter positivo, foi implementado um amplo esquema de perscrutação sobre o corpo físico e social no espaço urbano.This article addresses some of the different aspects that gave meaning to the medical/ juridical discussions in Brazil, in the period corresponding to the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, the moment when the theoretical-practical elements of a movement with scientific elements based on the Italian Positive School of Criminal Law contrasted with Classical Law that had been practiced until then in the country. For this purpose, we start from a cultural analysis that aims to identify in the process of modernization and urbanization that the city of Porto Alegre, RS went through the favorable environment for the diffusion of the medical-legal science that, under different approaches, sought to identify, systematize, and act upon delinquency and its agents. Different sources are used, among them the criminal cases, considered in this article as the main place in which the articulation between discursive and non-discursive practices is sought, in order to verify that that, through the process of institutionalization of the criminological science of positive character, a wide scheme of scrutiny of the physical and social body in the urban space was implemented
