Spinning Black Holes in (2+1)-dimensional String and Dilaton Gravity

We present a new class of spinning black hole solutions in (2+1)(2+1)-dimensional general relativity minimally coupled to a dilaton with potential ebϕΛe^{b\phi}\Lambda. When b=4b=4, the corresponding spinning black hole is a solution of low energy (2+1)(2+1)-dimensional string gravity. Apart from the limiting case of the BTZBTZ black hole, these spinning black holes have no inner horizon and a curvature singularity only at the origin. We compute the mass and angular momentum parameters of the solutions at spatial infinity, as well as their temperature and entropy.Comment: 8 pages, Latex, statements about mass of 2+1 Hirschmann and Welch magnetic solution corrected, in press in Phys. An R-type Ca(2+) current in neurohypophysial terminals preferentially regulates oxytocin secretion

Multiple types of voltage-dependent Ca(2+) channels are involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release (Tsien et al., 1991; Dunlap et al., 1995). In the nerve terminals of the neurohypophysis, the roles of L-, N-, and P/Q-type Ca(2+) channels in neuropeptide release have been identified previously (Wang et al., 1997a). Although the L- and N-type Ca(2+) currents play equivalent roles in both vasopressin and oxytocin release, the P/Q-type Ca(2+) current only regulates vasopressin release. An oxytocin-release and Ca(2+) current component is resistant to the L-, N-, and P/Q-type Ca(2+) channel blockers but is inhibited by Ni(2+). A new polypeptide toxin, SNX-482, which is a specific alpha(1E)-type Ca(2+) channel blocker (Newcomb et al., 1998), was used to characterize the biophysical properties of this resistant Ca(2+) current component and its role in neuropeptide release. This resistant component was dose dependently inhibited by SNX-482, with an IC(50) of 4.1 nM. Furthermore, SNX-482 did not affect the other Ca(2+) current types in these CNS terminals. Like the N- and P/Q-type Ca(2+) currents, this SNX-482-sensitive transient Ca(2+) current is high-threshold activated and shows moderate steady-state inactivation. At the same concentrations, SNX-482 blocked the component of oxytocin, but not of vasopressin, release that was resistant to the other channel blockers, indicating a preferential role for this type of Ca(2+) current in oxytocin release from neurohypophysial terminals. Our results suggest that an alpha(1E) or R -type Ca(2+) channel exists in oxytocinergic nerve terminals and, thus, functions in controlling only oxytocin release from the rat neurohypophysis

Após apresentar sucintamente a gênese, a métrica, o percurso, a organização e a enunciação do poema, abordamos as referências espaciais e temporais.

The Techniques for Overcoming Depression Questionnaire: Mokken Scale Analysis, Reliability, and Concurrent Validity in Depressed Cardiac Patients.

The Techniques for Overcoming Depression (TOD) questionnaire assesses the frequency with which patients being treated for depression use cognitive-behavioral techniques in daily life. This study examined its latent structure, reliability and concurrent validity in depressed cardiac patients. The TOD was administered at the initial and final treatment sessions in three trials of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) (n = 260) for depression in cardiac patients. Mokken scaling was used to determine its dimensionality. The TOD is unidimensional in depressed cardiac patients, both at the initial evaluation (H = .46) and the end of treatment (H = .47). It is sensitive to change and the total score correlates with therapist ratings of the patient’s socialization to CBT (r = .40, p \u3c .05), homework adherence (r = .36, p \u3c .05), and use of cognitive-behavioral techniques (r = .51, p \u3c .01). TOD scores were associated with post-treatment depression scores in two of the trials (p \u3c .01 in both analyses). The TOD is a unidimensional, reliable, valid, and clinically informative measure of self-reported use of cognitive-behavioral techniques for overcoming depression in cardiac patients. Studies of the TOD in other depressed patient populations are needed

MAURICE SCÈVE ET LE MILIEU POÉTIQUE LYONNAIS: QUELQUES OCURRENCES DU MIROIR, DE NARCISSE ET DELA LICORNE DANS LA "DÉLIE"

This article examines some aspects of the presence of the mirror in Délie, objet de plus haute vertu (1544), a volume of poems by Maurice Scève (circa 1501-circa 1564). First, we recall the poetic ambience of Lyon and place the figure of Scève there. Then, we present the main formal and thematic characteristics of Délie. Finally, we dwell on the poems CCLVII, CCCIII and CCCVII to study the motif of the mirror, its dialogue with the motifs of Narcissus and the unicorn, as well as its relationship with two of the central themes of the volume: a spiritualized vision of love and the suffering of the rejected lover.
