Indexación: Scopus. Objective: To determine the utilization, attitudes and perceptions about removable orthodontic appliances (ROA) among a sample of Chilean orthodontists. Materials and methods: Data collection was performed using semi-structured interviews with 10 orthodontists from diverse professional backgrounds. The analysis was performed using the “Grounded Theory” methodology, using Atlas.ti v.6.0.15. Results: We interviewed four men and six women (31 to 75 years old), with 7 to 53 years of experience as dentists, and 1 to 10 years of experience as orthodontists. All orthodontists have experience in private practice, five in public service, and one in a military institution. One-hun-dred and thirty-three codes were grouped into seven categories identified as follows: perception of orthodontists, control over treatment, ROA characteristics, ROA indications and contraindications, patients’ attitude to ROA, selection of treatment, and ROA utilization. Conclusion: In the selection of ROA, different factors are involved, including the characteristics of the dentist, of the patient, and the social context. The key factor in the utilization of ROA is the perception of control over treatment.http://www.joralres.com/index.php/JOR/article/view/334/31

Ramachandran mapping of peptide conformation using a large database of computed Raman and Raman optical activity spectra

In the past few decades, Raman optical activity (ROA) spectroscopy has been shown to be very sensitive to the solution structure of peptides and proteins. A major and urgent challenge remains the need to make detailed assignments of experimental ROA patterns and relate those to the solution structure adopted by the protein. In the past few years, theoretical developments and implementations of ROA theory have made it possible to use quantum chemical methods to compute the ROA spectra of peptides. In this work, a large database of ROA spectra of peptide model structures describing the allowed backbone conformations of proteins was systematically calculated and used to make unprecedented detailed assignments of experimental ROA patterns to the conformational elements of the peptide in solution. By using a similarity index to compare an experimental spectrum to the database spectra (2902 theoretical spectra), the conformational preference of the peptide in solution can be assigned to a very specific region in the Ramachandran space. For six (poly)peptides this approach was validated and gives excellent agreement between experiment and theory. Additionally, hydrogen/deuterium exchanged structures and the conformational dependence of the amide modes in Raman spectra can be analysed using the new database. The excellent agreement between experiment and theory demonstrates the power of the newly developed database as a tool to study Raman and ROA patterns of peptides and proteins. The interpretation of experimental ROA patterns of different proteins published in the scientific literature is discussed based on the spectral trends observed in the database

This research aim to find out the influence element Intellectual Capital through Non Performing Financing (NPF) as the intervening variable to the Financial Performance (ROA) of Islamic banks registered in the financial services authority. The research population is all Syaria commercial banking companies in 2011-2017 periods. The statistic method has been done by using descriptive statistic and path analysis. The result of the research on Intellectual  Capital element consisting of  VACA (Value Added Capital Employed), VAHU (Value Added Human Capital) dan STVA (Structural Capital Value Added) shows that VAHU has insignificant and negative influence to Non Performing Financing (NPF) and significant and positive influence to the Financial Performance (ROA). STVA has insignificant and negative influence to Non Performing Financing (NPF) and insignificant and positive influence to the Financial Performance (ROA). VACA has significant and negative influence to Non Performing Financing (NPF) and significant and positive influence to the Financial Performance (ROA). The result of the research shows the magnitude of the indirect influence of Intellectual  Capital through Non Performing Financing (NPF) to the Financial Performance (ROA) is smaller than the magnitude of direct influence Intellectual  Capital to the Financial Performance (ROA

© 2017. The American Astronomical Society. All rights reserved. We present a chemical abundance analysis of a metal-poor star, ROA 276, in the stellar system ω Centauri. We confirm that this star has an unusually high [Sr/Ba] abundance ratio. Additionally, ROA 276 exhibits remarkably high abundance ratios, [X/Fe] , for all elements from Cu to Mo along with normal abundance ratios for the elements from Ba to Pb. The chemical abundance pattern of ROA 276, relative to a primordial ω Cen star ROA 46, is best fit by a fast-rotating low-metallicity massive stellar model of 20 , [Fe/H] = -1.8, and an initial rotation 0.4 times the critical value; no other nucleosynthetic source can match the neutron-capture element distribution. ROA 276 arguably offers the most definitive proof to date that fast-rotating massive stars contributed to the production of heavy elements in the early universe

The purpose of this research is to analyze Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Net Interest Margin (NIM), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Cost to Income Ratio (CIR) toward Return On Asset (ROA) of Domestic Banks and Foreign Banks in Indonesia from 2011 to 2015. The population of this research is all domestic banks and foreign banks in Indonesia that operate from 2011 to 2015. This research uses purposive sampling method as sampling technique, therefore total samples of this research is 92 domestic banks and 10 foreign banks. The analysis technique that is used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis. This research also uses Chow test to compare the influence of CAR, NIM, LDR, CIR toward ROA between domestic banks and foreign banks. The result of analysis shows that CAR, NIM, LDR, and CIR have significant influence toward ROA in domestic banks. Meanwhile, only CAR and CIR in foreign banks show significant influence toward ROA. Chow test result shows that there is different influence of CAR, NIM, LDR, CIR toward ROA between domestic banks and foreign banks

Comparative study of the vibrational optical activity techniques in structure elucidation : the case of galantamine

The absolute configuration of the alkaloid galantamine was studied using a range of solution-state techniques; nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), vibrational circular dichroism (VCD), and Raman optical activity (ROA). While the combined use of NMR and VCD does provide a fast, high-resolution methodology for determining the absolute configuration of galantamine, both techniques were needed in concert to achieve this goal. ROA, on the other hand, proved to be sensitive enough to assign the full absolute configuration without relying on other techniques. In both cases, statistical validation was applied to aid the determination of absolute configuration. In the case of galantamine, ROA combined with statistical validation is shown to be a powerful stand-alone tool for absolute configuration determination

Convex computation of the region of attraction of polynomial control systems

We address the long-standing problem of computing the region of attraction (ROA) of a target set (e.g., a neighborhood of an equilibrium point) of a controlled nonlinear system with polynomial dynamics and semialgebraic state and input constraints. We show that the ROA can be computed by solving an infinite-dimensional convex linear programming (LP) problem over the space of measures. In turn, this problem can be solved approximately via a classical converging hierarchy of convex finite-dimensional linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Our approach is genuinely primal in the sense that convexity of the problem of computing the ROA is an outcome of optimizing directly over system trajectories. The dual infinite-dimensional LP on nonnegative continuous functions (approximated by polynomial sum-of-squares) allows us to generate a hierarchy of semialgebraic outer approximations of the ROA at the price of solving a sequence of LMI problems with asymptotically vanishing conservatism. This sharply contrasts with the existing literature which follows an exclusively dual Lyapunov approach yielding either nonconvex bilinear matrix inequalities or conservative LMI conditions. The approach is simple and readily applicable as the outer approximations are the outcome of a single semidefinite program with no additional data required besides the problem description
