Mundo árabe: retrocesos, derrotas, luchas

Tres años después, las revoluciones parecen haber conducido a una derrota total, o al menos a retrocesos tan claros y a veces tan trágicos, que resulta difícil columbrar bajo las involuciones golpistas o los conflictos violentos el original impulso democrático que desencadenó las protestas populares. ¿Qué queda de esas protestas? ¿Qué consecuencias han tenido, a nivel político y geoestratégico para el conjunto de la región? Cualesquiera que sean los retrocesos, lo que no se puede negar es que por primera vez desde la descolonización los pueblos árabes han irrumpido en el escenario de la Historia y con su rebelión, fallida o no, han modificado radicalmente el orden geopolí- tico de la zona y del mundo.Tres anys després, les revolucions pareixen haver conduït a una derrota total, o almenys a retrocessos tan clars i a vegades tan tràgics, que resulta difícil albirar davall les involucions colpistes o els conflictes violents l’original impuls democràtic que va desencadenar les protestes populars. Què queda d’aquelles protestes? Quines conseqüències han tingut, en l’àmbit polític i geoestratègic per al conjunt de la regió? Siguen quins siguen els retrocessos, el que no es pot negar és que per primera vegada des de la descolonització els pobles àrabs han irromput en l’escenari de la Història i amb la seua rebel·lió, fallida o no, han modificat radicalment l’ordre geopolític de la zona i del món.Three years on, the revolutions appear to have led to total defeat, or at least setbacks that are so clear and sometimes so tragic that it is difficult to discern the original democratic impulse that sparked the popular protests beneath the regressive coups or violent conflicts. What remains of these protests? What consequences have they had, at a political and geo-strategic level, for the whole region? Whatever the setbacks, it cannot be denied that for the first time since decolonisation the Arab peoples have come onto the stage of history and through their revolt, failed or otherwise, they have radically changed the geopolitical order of the region and the world

A Robust Adaptive Dead-Time Compensator with Application to A Solar Collector Field

This paper describes an easy-to-use PI controller with dead-time compensation that presents robust behaviour and can be applied to plants with variable dead-time. The formulation is based on an adaptive Smith predictor structure plus the addition of a filter acting on the error between the output and its prediction in order to improve robustness. The implementation of the control law is straightforward, and the filter needs no adjustment, since it is directly related to the plant dead-time. An application to an experimentally validated nonlinear model of a solar plant shows that this controller can improve the performance of classical PID controllers without the need of complex calculations.Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología TAP95-37

Advanced Control for Energy Management of Grid-Connected Hybrid Power Systems in the Sugar Cane Industry

This work presents a process supervision and advanced control structure, based on Model Predictive Control (MPC) coupled with disturbance estimation techniques and a finite-state machine decision system, responsible for setting energy productions set-points. This control scheme is applied to energy generation optimization in a sugar cane power plant, with non-dispatchable renewable sources, such as photovoltaic and wind power generation, as well as dispatchable sources, as biomass. The energy plant is bound to produce steam in different pressures, cold water and, imperiously, has to produce and maintain an amount of electric power throughout each month, defined by contract rules with a local distribution network operator (DNO). The proposed predictive control structure uses feedforward compensation of estimated future disturbances, obtained by the Double Exponential Smoothing (DES) method. The control algorithm has the task of performing the management of which energy system to use, maximize the use of the renewable energy sources, manage the use of energy storage units and optimize energy generation due to contract rules, while aiming to maximize economic profits. Binary Search Algorithm for Mixed Integer Optimization: Application to energy management in a microgrid

This paper presents a binary search algorithm to deal with binary variables in mixed integer optimization problems. One example of this kind of problem is the optimal operation of hydrogen storage and energy sale and purchase into a microgrids context. In this work was studied a system composed by a microgrid that has a connection with the external electrical network and a charging station for electric cars. The system modeling was carried out by the Energy Hubs methodology. The proposed algorithm transforms the MIQP (Mixed Integer Quadratic Program) problem into a QP (Quadratic Program) that is easier to solve. Efectos del método pilates en pacientes con dolor cervical crónico

Introducción: el dolor cervical crónico (DCC) se trata de un dolor en la región del cuello con más de 3 meses de evolución, siendo la cuarta causa de dolor crónico. Para su abordaje fisioterapéutico están recomendados el fortalecimiento de la musculatura cervical y el ejercicio físico, entre otros. El método Pilates, creado por Joseph Pilates contiene ejercicios destinados a fortalecer la musculatura estabilizadora de tronco y a estimular la activación de la musculatura estabilizadora de la columna. Es por eso, que podría tratarse de una herramienta para tratar el DCC por medio del ejercicio terapéutico. Objetivos: la finalidad principal de este trabajo es conocer la eficacia del método Pilates sobre el dolor en pacientes con DCC, además de averiguar el impacto producido sobre la discapacidad, función y calidad de vida de estos pacientes. Métodos: se realizó una búsqueda en las bases de datos Pubmed, PEDro, Web of Science, Cochrane y Science Direct combinando los descriptores “Chronic neck pain” y “Pilates” con el operador booleano “AND-“. Se añadieron los criterios de búsqueda: 10 últimos años de publicación, humanos, sujetos adultos y ensayos clínicos / artículos de investigación. Resultados: se seleccionaron un total de 6 estudios en los que se evaluaban los efectos del método Pilates con respecto al dolor, discapacidad, calidad de vida y función en pacientes con DCC. Conclusión: el método Pilates es útil para reducir el dolor en pacientes con DCC. Además, también reduce la discapacidad cervical y mejora la función y la calidad de vida de los pacientes.Introduction: Chronic neck pain (CNP) is pain in the neck region with more than 3 months of evolution, being the fourth cause of chronic pain. For its physiotherapeutic treatment, strengthening of the cervical musculature and physical exercise, among others, are recommended. The Pilates method, created by Joseph Pilates, contains exercises designed to strengthen the stabilizing muscles of the trunk and stimulate the activation of the stabilizing muscles of the spine. That is why it could be an option to treat CNP through therapeutic exercise. Objectives: the main purpose of this work is to know the effectiveness of the Pilates method on pain in patients with CNP, as well as to find out the impact produced on the disability, function and quality of life of these patients. Methods: a search was carried out in the Pubmed, PEDro, Web of Science, Cochrane and Science Direct databases, combining the descriptors "Chronic neck pain" and "Pilates" with the Boolean operator "AND-". Search criteria added: last 10 years of publication, humans, adult subjects, and clinical trials/research articles. Results: A total of 6 studies were selected in which the effects of the Pilates method were evaluated with respect to pain, disability, quality of life and function in patients with CNP. Conclusion: the Pilates method is useful to reduce pain in patients with CNP. In addition, it also reduces cervical disability and improves function and quality of life for patients

Existen numerosos programas observaciones dedicados a la detección y observación de lentes gravitatorias. Resulta de gran interés obtener soluciones analíticas de la curva de luz de la estrella fuente cuando esta es extensa porque permite determinar importantes propiedades de la atmósfera de la estrella. Las soluciones analíticas permiten ajustes a la curva de luz en tiempo real, haciendo factible un muestreo denso de la curva de luz a fin de detectar los parámetros característicos de la atmósfera con mejor precisión. En este trabajo obtendremos aproximaciones analíticas a distintos perfiles de luminosidad de estrellas extensas y analizaremos la viabilidad de su detección.[EN]Stars passing near the line of sight between an observer and a source amplify radiation coming from the source, acting like a lens. Caracterización de las aguas del tramo final del río Monnegre

El estudio trata de caracterizar las diferencias existentes entre los parámetros de dos muestreos tomados en las aguas del tramo final del río Monnegre, tras los vertidos de la EDAR Alacantí Norte, situada en Sant Joan d’ Alacant, uno realizado en el año 2015 y otro en el año actual (2018). Después del vertido se observa un aumento o una disminución en ambos muestreos de varios parámetros estudiados, destacando un aumento de los valores de los parámetros que favorecen la eutrofización (la temperatura, el fósforo y los nitratos) de las aguas en el muestreo del año 2018 respecto al muestreo del año 2015. Y también un aumento de los valores en el muestreo del año actual de los parámetros estudiados como la conductividad eléctrica y cloruros.The study tries to characterize the differences between the parameters of two samples taken in the waters of the final stretch of the Monnegre River, after the discharges of the Alacantí Norte WWTP, located in Sant Joan d 'Alacant, one carried out in 2015 and another in the current year (2018). After the discharge, an increase or decrease in both samples of several parameters was observed, highlighting an increase in the values of the parameters that favor the eutrophication (temperature, phosphorus and nitrates) of the waters in the year 2018 sampling with respect to the sampling of the year 2015. And also, an increase of the values in the sampling of the current year of the studied parameters like the electrical conductivity and chlorides
