Workation – Ein Konzept für die öffentliche Verwaltung? Eine Untersuchung am Beispiel der Stadtverwaltung Herrenberg

Die Digitalisierung ermöglicht neue Arbeitsformen, darunter Workation, ein Konzept bei dem Arbeit (work) und Urlaub (vacation) kombiniert werden. Diese Master-Thesis untersucht die Auswirkungen von Workation in der kommunalen Praxis sowie die Bedeutung dieser Arbeitsform für Nachwuchskräfte. In einer qualitativen Analyse eines Pilotprojekts der Stadtverwaltung Herrenberg wurden die Auswirkungen auf Arbeitsabläufe, Arbeitsverhalten und Wohlbefinden der Mitarbeitenden sowie Chancen und Herausforderungen evaluiert. Eine ergänzende quantitative Befragung von Studierenden der Verwaltungshochschulen Kehl und Ludwigsburg beleuchtete das Interesse an Workation und dessen Relevanz für Jobwahl und Mitarbeitendenbindung

Intermediate Representations for Controllers in Chip Generators

Creating parameterized “chip generators” has been proposed as one way to decrease chip NRE costs. While many approaches are available for creating or generating flexible data path elements, the design of flexible controllers is more problematic. The most common approach is to create a microcoded engine as the controller, which offers flexibility through programmable table-based lookup functions. This paper shows that after “programming” the hardware for the desired application, or applications, these flexible controller designs can be easily converted to efficient fixed (or less programmable) solutions using partial evaluation capabilities that are already present in most synthesis tools

Marine Microalgae: Climate, Energy, and Food Security From the Sea

Climate, energy, and food security are three of the greatest challenges society faces this century. Solutions for mitigating the effects of climate change often conflict with solutions for ensuring society’s future energy and food requirements. For example, BioEnergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) has been proposed as an important method for achieving negative CO2 emissions later this century while simultaneously producing renewable energy on a global scale. However, BECCS has many negative environmental consequences for land, nutrient, and water use as well as biodiversity and food production. In contrast, large-scale industrial cultivation of marine microalgae can provide society with a more environmentally favorable approach for meeting the climate goals agreed to at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference, producing the liquid hydrocarbon fuels required by the global transportation sector, and supplying much of the protein necessary to feed a global population approaching 10 billion people

Ökonomie und Olympia – Welche Faktoren beeinflussen den sportlichen Erfolg bei Olympischen Sommerspielen?

Der Erfolg bei Olympischen Spielen wird für teilnehmende Nationen immer wichtiger, daher wird in der vorliegenden Ausarbeitung untersucht, welche Faktoren Einfluss auf den Medaillenspiegel bei Olympischen Sommerspielen haben. Hierbei wird im ersten Teil die Geschichte der Olympischen Spiele mit den sich daraus ergebenden Besonderheiten untersucht. Dabei ergeben sich Faktoren aus den Bereichen Politik, Religion, Wirtschaft und Sport. Im zweiten Teil folgt die empirische Untersuchung. Diese setzt sich aus einer Clusteranalyse und einer Hauptkomponentenanalyse zusammen und endet in der Regressionsanalyse. Diese wird auf die Verletzung von Annahmen untersucht. Aus diesen Ergebnissen ergeben sich die Zusammenfassung und der Ausblick auf weitere Untersuchungen.The success at the Olympic Games is becoming increasingly important for participating nations, therefore, is investigated in the present elaboration of factors that have an influence on the medal table at the Olympic Summer Games. Here, in the first part the history of the Olympic Games with the consequent devoted special features is examined. Here, factors from the fields of politics, religion, business and sports are part of the analysis. In the second part follows the empirical investigation. This is composed of a cluster analysis and principal component analysis and ends in the regression analysis. This is examined for violation of assumptions. From these results, the summary and the outlook for further research arise
