Introduction: In the context of Nutritional Therapy (NT), critically ill patients are associated with a state of catabolic stress and a systemic inflammatory response. Patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU) have a prevalence of malnutrition greater than 35%. The main objective of parenteral nutrition (PN) is to provide a nutrient mix closely related to requirements safely and avoid complications. However, PN poses a considerable risk of overfeeding, which can be just as harmful as underfeeding. Long-term survival data (expressed as 6-month survival) will also be considered a relevant outcome measure. Objective: It was performed a systematic review to evaluate the main clinical approaches of macro and micronutrients in enteral therapy according to international guidelines and clinical studies. Methods: The present study followed a concise systematic review model, following the systematic review rules (PRISMA). The literary search process was carried out from August to October 2022 and was developed based on Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo, and Google Scholar, using scientific articles from 2011 to 2022. The low quality of evidence was attributed to case reports, editorials, and brief communications, according to the GRADE instrument. The risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results and Conclusion: It was found 118 studies that underwent eligibility analysis, and then 20 of the 22 total studies were selected for this systematic review. According to the GRADE instrument, most studies showed homogeneity in their results, with I2 =97.7% >50%. Standard crystalline amino acid solutions, while devoid of side effects, remain incomplete regarding their composition (eg glutamine). Lipid emulsions have come a long way and are now included in bi- and tri-compartment feeding bags, allowing for true total PN as long as daily micronutrients are prescribed. The issue of exact individual needs for energy, macro, and micronutrients has not yet been resolved. Many complications attributed to total PN are the consequence of under or overfeeding. Total PN indications have evolved towards its use alone or in combination with enteral nutrition. The start time varies by country between admission (Australia and Israel), day 4 (Swiss), and day 7 (Belgium, USA). The most important issue may be an individualized and time-dependent prescription of the feeding pathway, energy, and substrates

Tese apresentada à Universidade Fernando Pessoa como parte dos requisitos para obtenção do grau de Doutor em Ciências EmpresariaisThis study aims to contribute to the conceptual development of consumer behaviour in wine tourism area by bringing new discussion and empirical evidences. For this, a literature review of the main concepts was conducted in order to develop and support a conceptual model. This model was subsequently validated and empirically tested, and a hypothetical relationship between constructs was established: involvement (personal involvement and wine product involvement), destination emotions and place attachment (place identity and place dependence). This is, so far, the first study that analyses the combined interaction of all these constructs. This research was undertaken in the framework of wine tourism, namely the measurement of the wine tourist behavior after visiting the Porto wine cellars. Methodologically, the first chapter is a qualitative exploratory study that performed a content analysis on the key constructs (involvement and emotions), allowing a better understanding of how they can be defined, and the main dimensions underlying each one of them. The second chapter consisted of a conceptual approach, which focused on the clarification of the definition of wine tourism, and the wine tourist behaviour in particular. It also explored the possible relations between constructs (involvement, destination emotions, place attachment and behavioural intentions), postulating the key preposition that stems from their interaction. In the third chapter, a quantitative research was used, using a personal intercept survey in the Porto wine cellars to validate and to give empirical evidences about the behaviour of the Porto wine cellar visitor. The multilevel analysis of the proposed structural model was made using the SmartPLS software, allowing the confirmation of all the proposed hypotheses. In the first chapter, the findings provided a theoretical support of the relevance of involvement and emotions constructs in the field of tourism. The content analysis produced insights based on concepts and definitions of these two constructs on a more holistic perspective. In the second chapter, the findings sustain the special interest in consumer behaviour in wine tourism, and it stated a set of five prepositions, where the main constructs are interlinked. In the third chapter, the empirical results indicated that wine tourists’ personal involvement and their wine product involvement have a significant influence (and a direct effect) on destination emotions and place attachment, driving their behavioural intentions. The study had direct implications (analysis and evaluation of the wine tourist travel behaviour and wine tourist profile) for the Porto wine cellars. The results led to practical implications and suggestions for wine tourism managers.

Introduction: In the scenario of non-communicable chronic diseases, obesity has briefly impacted the global population, causing serious public health problems. There are approximately 2.0 billion overweight and obese people in the world. Brazil ranks fifth in the world with approximately 18.0 million people. Research has advanced on the physiological role of melatonin (MEL) as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of obesity. Objective: It was to highlight the main clinical outcomes of melatonin regulation in obesity through a systematic review of the literature. Methods: The present study followed a concise systematic review model, following the systematic review rules (PRISMA). The literary search process was carried out from September to October 2022 and developed based on Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo, and Google Scholar. The low quality of evidence was attributed to case reports, editorials, and brief communications, according to the GRADE instrument. The risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results and Conclusion: It was founded 139 studies were submitted to the eligibility analysis, then, 46 of the 54 total studies were selected for this systematic review. According to the GRADE instrument, most studies showed homogeneity in their results, with I2 =98.4% >50%. Studies have shown an important role for melatonin in metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome. It is possible to define some pathological syndromes related to MEL and discuss general guidelines for clinical therapy. However, there is still no consensus on the possible role of melatonin as an adjuvant in the treatment of metabolic diseases. More studies are needed to define the possible risks and benefits of melatonin as a therapeutic agent. Furthermore, several precautions must be taken into account, such as restricting the administration of chronic melatonin to the night, carefully choosing the time of administration according to the desired effect, and adapting the dosage and formulation individually to build a melatonin blood profile that mimics the physiological and ends early in the morning

Additive manufacturing represents a powerful tool for the production of lightweight and optimised aerospace components capable of enabling an overall mass reduction of the system they are embedded in and, consequently, minimising fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. In particular, combining additive methods with titanium alloys is an attractive solution for saving weight while ensuring structural integrity due to their outstanding specific mechanical properties. The problems associated with the manufacturing of titanium by traditional processes, namely the waste of raw material in relation to the material actually utilised, can be solved by the adoption of additive methods, in particular Selective Laser Melting. Active Space Technologies has been investigating additivetitanium solutions in the scope of the ADVANSS project whose aim was the research, development and manufacturing of a support structure, the Large Lens Mounting. However, the considerable heat exchanges between the substrate, the powder bed, the melt pool and the surrounding environment involved in the process are responsible for inducing large stress concentrations that may cause part failure. The main objective of this work is the development of a thermoelastic model capable of replicating the phenomena occurring during Selective Laser Melting, including material melting and subsequent cooling, with good flexibility in parameter variation. By predicting thermal stresses induced during manufacturing, it is possible to establish a set of process parameters capable of mitigating part imperfections. A series of complementary goals have been proposed as well: carrying out parametric studies to predict stresses induced by a specific set of parameters for a single layer, and later of a whole component, with n layers; building a hierarchy of parameters according to their ability to minimise stresses; and enriching Active Space Technologies expertise in additive manufacturing technologies. The prospect is that the knowledge acquired with this project contributes to the development of a similar model that would optimise the fabrication process of the Large Lens Mounting.O fabrico aditivo representa uma ferramenta poderosa na produção de componentes aeroespaciais leves e otimizados capazes de reduzir a massa do sistema onde estão inseridos e, consequentemente, o consumo de combustível e das emissões de poluentes.

Some temporal conjunctions can express a variety of meanings on a causal-temporal dimension. By inference, a when-clause may indicate a cause, an event prior in time, or even an event occurring simultaneously with the main clause event (Bever & Townsend, 1970). Using a self-paced reading experiment in the program Psyscope, we crossed the independent variables connective (when) and position (first position – Subordinate-Main – and second position – Main-Subordinate) to test if readers focus more on the main clause than on the subordinate clause and if readers use the order-of-mention strategy to interpret two-clause sentences conjoined with when establishing a causal-temporal relationship. Our results showed a significant effect of both structure and position factors. The online results showed that, in general, the main clause receives more reading times than the subordinate clause and that readers spent more time reading the main-subordinate sentences. The offline results indicate that the information about the first event is easier to recall if the when-clause is the first clause. Thus, the subordinate-main condition presented more accuracy rates. The order of mention strategy did not seem to be used during sentence reading processing, however, the accuracy rates were higher in conditions, in which the linguistic order mirrored the occurrence order. The main-subordinate order affected the ease of late comprehension, although it eased the reading processing.
