On the Gauss map of embedded minimal tubes

A surface is called a tube if its level-sets with respect to some coordinate function (the axis of the surface) are compact. Any tube of zero mean curvature has an invariant, the so-called flow vector. We study how the geometry of the Gaussian image of a higher-dimensional minimal tube M is controlled by the angle alpha(M) between the axis and the flow vector of M. We prove that the diameter of the Gauss image of M is at least 2alpha(M). As a consequence we derive an estimate on the length of a two-dimensional minimal tube M in terms of alpha(\M) and the total Gaussian curvature of M

The article provides a classification of new teaching methods used by university teachers in order to adapt students to learn new material in the context of their cognitive activities. In modern conditions of the rapid development of digital technologies, it is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate the growing flow of information, so teachers are faced with the problem of helping students learn more effectively, especially if students lack knowledge of new digital technologies. Therefore, the function of the teacher is changing significantly, and there is a need to use such teaching methods that help students more easily and quickly recognize reliable sources, at the same time acquiring the ability to set the necessary search queries and navigate through digital space. New learning technologies, such as gamification, blended learning, mobile learning, micro-learning, project-based learning and facilitation sessions, contribute to the active teacher-student interaction and the formation of new knowledge and competencies. At the same time, the process of acquiring knowledge becomes secondary, and the acquisition of new competencies that will be necessary in future professional life comes to the fore. The digital educational landscape offers students a greater choice, which actualizes the promotion of new educational technologies in the modern university space. Background: In intensive animal husbandry management, the high disease occurrence in young animals remains an urgent problem, which is a direct consequence of the crowded placement of animals and insufficiently strong immune systems. The paper describes the study of the effect of the antiviral medication Triazavirin on the activity of humoral immunity and the level of specific antibodies in the blood serum of calves. Methods: Hematological and serological studies were carried out. The experiment involved 40 calves of the black-and-white breed, aged one month, with an average weight of 50 kg, without clinical signs of diseases. For this experiment, two groups of calves were formed using the analog method. The animals in the first and second groups received the medication in dosages of 62.5 mg and 1,000 mg by inhalation and orally, respectively. Results: In the first group, hematological studies showed the presence of leukocytosis, lymphocytosis, and agranulocytosis. When studying the level of antibodies in the blood serum, a decrease in the level of antibodies was discovered, which indicates a therapeutic effect and a decrease in the number of viral particles. The titer level of specific antibodies was at the same level, which was associated with taking the medication and activating adaptive mechanisms of the body's defense. In hematological studies of the blood of animals of the second group, leukocytosis was noted. When studying the level of antibodies in the blood serum, it was noted that the level of antibodies had decreased by 40%. The titer level of specific antibodies was at the same level. Conclusion: The results obtained made it possible to recommend the use of the antiviral medication in question for the treatment of respiratory diseases in calves. The authors present conclusions on the effectiveness of the inhalation route of administration of the medication for viral pathogenic agent control. Keywords: Calves; Antiviral medication; Blood; Antibody titer; Hematological; Serological studies

Dynamical interaction of an elastic system and essentially nonlinear absorber

International audienceThe nonlinear two-degrees-of-freedom system under consideration consists of a linear oscillator with a relatively big mass which is an approximation of some continuous elastic system, and an essentially nonlinear oscillator with a relatively small mass which is an absorber of the main linear system vibrations. Free and forced vibrations of the system are investigated. Analysis of nonlinear normal vibration modes shows that a stable localized vibration mode, which provides the vibration regime appropriate for an absorption, exists in a large region of the system parameters. In this regime amplitudes of vibrations of the main elastic system are small; simultaneously vibrations of the absorber are significant.Frequency response of the system under external periodic force is obtained. The dynamical interaction of elastic string under impact impulse and the essentially nonlinear absorber is considered too. Absorption of a longitudinal traveling wave in the system is analyzed
