Microfibers for juice analysis by solid-phase microextraction.
In view of the interest in analyzing volatile compounds by SPME, the following five microfibers were tested, polydimethylsiloxane; polyacrylate; polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene; carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane, and carbowax/divinylbenzene, to select the one which presents the best performance for the adsorption of the volatile compounds present in the headspace of acid lime juice samples. Sample stabilization time variations (30 and 60 minutes) were assessed as well the addition of NaCl to the samples. It was verified that the chromatogram with the most adsorbed volatile compounds was obtained with PDMS/DVB microfiber at 30 minutes and the addition of 0.2 g NaCl
This study aims to analyze the results of a research on environmental education programs developed by State Parks of São Paulo, concerning their objectives and themes, relations with the community, interdisciplinary approach and environment representations. Specifically, the analysis take into consideration the extent to which these results consider the recommendations drawn up in the Declaration of the 1st Intergovernmental Environmental Education Conference, in Tbilisi, in 1977. The study group was constituted by the managers and the people responsible for the environmental education programs in the parks. The data collection was carried out through the survey technique, and the questionnaire was the main tool. Among the analyzed results, some Tbilisi recommendations have been considered in the environmental education programs, despite the fact that they do not take part in a broader and continuing educational process. In addition, some programs adopted an approach of environmental themes which emphasized only the natural aspects, what is against the recommendations of the Declaration. The recognition of this document is essential to formulate and implement environmental education programs
Thermal history and comfort in a Brazilian subtropical climate: a ‘cool’ addiction hypothesis
Currently, there is a rising trend for commercial buildings to use air conditioning to provide indoor thermal comfort. This paper focuses on the impact of prolonged exposure to indoor air-conditioned environments on occupants’ thermal acceptability and preferences in a mixed-mode building in Brazil. Questionnaires were administered while indoor microclimatic measurements were carried out (i.e., air temperature, radiant air temperature, air speed and humidity). Results suggest significant differences in occupants’ thermal acceptability and cooling preferences based on thermal history; differences were found between groups based on different physical characteristics (i.e., different gender and body condition). The findings also indicated a significant potential to implement temperature fluctuations indoors when occupants are exposed to air conditioning environments in warm and humid climates

Patients with genetic disorders as risk group for COVID-19 / Pacientes com distúrbios genéticos como grupo de risco para COVID-19
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has seriously affected the global population and has raised concerns about the effect of this new disease on individuals with genetic disorders, many of which have a systemic effect, including impairment of the respiratory system. A lack of published literature about the consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection in genetic disorders is observed, in this sense, the present review analyses the current knowledge about COVID-19 and its impacts on patients with genetic disorders, also genetic variants as factors of susceptibility and possible risks and preventive measures to those patients, highlighting the role of the restriction to social contact in prevention

The use of conceptual diagrams in the physics education in high school : a study in wave mechanics, acoustics and optics contents
In this article we report a study whose objective was to use conceptual diagrams, together with expositive and demonstrative lessons, aiming to promote signicant learning of physics of waves, acoustics and optics at the high school level. "Reference Diagrams", based on Joseph Novak's strategy of conceptual maps, were elaborated. Two groups, each one with twenty-¯ve pupils participated of the study. One group developed the activities with conceptual maps and the other one followed traditional activities such as thumbnails, resolution of problems and exercises in physics. The qualitative analysis of student diagrams elaborated showed conceptual de¯ciencies and demonstrated that, at the end of the semester, the new conceptual diagrams elaborated have higher level compared to the ¯rst ones in the sense that the students were able to present clearly their ideas, elaborate propositions and reach conclusions. An personal survey showed that students approved the use of this didactic resource
This research aimed to verify the daily intraindividual and interindividualvariations of work engagement and to investigate the predictors of this phenomenon and of the role performance at work, as well as the mediating role of engagement in the relationship between these predictors and performance. The sample consisted of 116 workers of both sexes (71.9% female). Through multilevel modelling, it could be identified that role ambiguity constituted a significant and negative predictor of engagement and performance, while participation in decision-making was characterized as a positive predictive variable of both constructs. The task complexity, in turn, proved to be a negative predictor of performance. Contrary to expectations, engagement did not show intra-individual variations. Brazilian organizations can benefit from these findings and seek to intervene in the work context.
