Around Origin Zawisza Czarny [Zawisza The Black] by Juliusz Słowacki’s Based on Correspondence Poet and his Friends

Juliusz Słowacki’s drama Zawisza Czarny [Zawisza the Black] is one of the poet’s least described and analysed works. This drama is one of the last literary texts of the poet (next to Samuel Zborowski from 1845), written in 1844–1845. The researchers included it in the socalled “Mystical period” of the work of the poet. It seems that it is still worth asking about the genesis of a literary work, as it is, after all, an immanent part of the history of literature. The article outlines the hypothetical provenance of drama Zawisza Czarny, with particular attention to the biographical context. As the basis for conclusions and assumptions the selected correspondence of the poet to his mother, Salomea Bécu and his friend Joanna Bobrowa. Letters of Zygmunt Krasiński in which he mentioned Słowacki at the time when he was probably working on Zawisza Czarny and later, when writing was completed. The research problems discussed in the text concern: the possible causes of the work, the conditions in which the drama was created, the potential inspiration of the bard and the reconstruction of the biographical context. Considering the work in question in terms of biography is only an interpretative proposal, a set of conjectures and possible references

Religious undead : new conceptualization of vampirism in the media space (based on the example of Mike Flanagan's "Midnight Mass" series)

Celem artykułu jest analiza toposu wampira w serialu "Nocna msza" (2021). Ze względu na wyjątkowe, w aspekcie religijnym, ujęcie figury nieumarłego koniecznym wydaje się odpowiedź na następujące pytania: w jakim zakresie semantycznym produkcja Netflixa wnosi nowe treści do dotychczasowej ewolucji obrazu krwiopijcy w kulturze? Dlaczego powiązanie wampiryzmu z religijnością, chociaż już we wcześniejszych utworach pojawiały się tego typu reprezentacje, stanowi novum? Jakie nawiązania oraz paralele można zaobserwować w serialu w odniesieniu do słynnych antenatów - powieści Brama Stokera, Stephena Kinga, Anne Rice, filmów Friedricha Wilhelma Murnau czy Wernera Herzoga? Metodologia wykorzystana w tekście korzysta z kategorii wypracowanych na gruncie semiotyki kultury popularnej (ewolucja intermedialnego wizerunku wampira), teorii komunikowania masowego (konteksty konwergencyjne) oraz badań komparatystycznych (relacja w zakresie wykorzystania motywów fabularnych między "Nocną mszą" a wcześniejszymi utworami, w których manifestuje się topos krwiopijcy). Wartość poznawcza artykułu opiera się na wykazaniu poszerzenia pola semantycznego wampiryzmu w kontekście religijnym, który pojawił się w serialu Mike'a Flanagana.The aim of this article is to analyse topos of a vampire in the "Midnight Mass" series (2021). Due to the unique, religious aspect of the series, it seems necessary to answer the following questions: to what semantic extent does Netflix's production bring new content to the current evolution of the image of the "bloodsucker" in culture? Why the connection of vampirism and religiosity seems like a novelty, although such representations have already appeared in earlier works? Why the connection between vampirism and religion, when such representations have already appeared in earlier works, is a novelty? What references and parallels can be observed in the "Midnight Mass" series that relate to the famous novels by Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Anne Rice and films by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau or Werner Herzog? The methodology used in this article is based on categories developed on the basis of the semiotics of popular culture (evolution of the intermedia image of a vampire), theory of mass communication (convergent contexts) and comparative research (account of the use of motives between "Midnight Mass" and earlier works in which the bloodsucker topos is manifested). The cognitive value of the article is based on the demonstration of the broadening of the semantic field of vampirism vampirism in the religious context, which appeared in Mike Flanagan's series

The SOLARIS synchrotron located in Krakow, Poland, is a third-generation light source operating at medium electron energy. The first synchrotron light was observed in 2015, and the consequent development of infrastructure lead to the first users’ experiments at soft X-ray energies in 2018. Presently, SOLARIS expands its operation towards hard X-rays with continuous developments of the beamlines and concurrent infrastructure. Celem badania było uzyskanie odpowiedzi na następujące pytania: w jaki sposób została przedstawiona noblistka oraz jej twórczość? Czy zróżnicowanie światopoglądowe gazet miało wpływ na ocenę werdyktu Akademii? Czy zaangażowanie polityczne Elfriede Jelinek rzutowało na ocenę jej pisarstwa? Austriacka prozaiczka, która została uhonorowana najważniejszym literackim laurem, była w Polsce praktycznie zupełnie nieznana przed 2004 rokiem. This article attempts to outline the functioning of streaming series in media culture. Bohaterowie serialu Netflixa „Szkoła dla elity” między transgresją a tragizmem

The main objective of the text is to analyze the character creations in the Netflix series Elite through two reading models: transgression and tragedy. Both concepts are so broad that they became the starting point for subsequent levels of interpretation. Research categories from methodological fields such as anthropology of culture (theory of abjection), the semiotics of popular culture, mythographic criticism, and hermeneutics of suspicion also turned out to be useful.
