Financial economics: Dynamic analysis of macrofundamental variables and risk cases, Colombia and Lima (Peru)

Dedicated to all those who believe in their dreams and sow day by day to achieve them. This research book is the product of a frank and open debate related to the importance of accurately measuring financial phenomena that turn out to be related to scenarios of economic openness, financial globalization, competitive market environments and their incidence on risk. Thus, the authors of this book have wanted to show in a clear and detailed way methodological approaches that allow future researchers to carry out replications of this work in other contexts or to broaden the theoretical reflection to strengthen the theoretical framework of financial economics. The analysis contexts in this book have been chosen considering spatial, temporal or historical peculiarities that have aroused intellectual interest in understanding how differentiated impacts are produced on commodity prices, exchange rate and risk or which variables are determinants of these categories of analysis. This work aims to provide investors and researchers with a methodological approach to carry out technical and / or fundamental analyzes for the prediction of the behavior of the main currency pairs worldwide, especially those that can be traded through the Internet, in various platforms that brokers develop to facilitate access and participation in these types of markets. In many cases, the broad panorama of research topics related to the field of financial economics may induce a greater focus on performance analysis to leave out very important elements that should be considered when making investment decisions, such as For example, the most appropriate statistical tools for a certain behavior, the combination of analysis to confirm or deny a prediction, the indicators of more and less risky operations, linearity or non-linearity in quantitative relationships of interest. However, this work does not guarantee success in your investment decisions, due to a large number of factors that will be explained later in the following chapters, however, it intends to considerably reduce your deliberate, irrational and unfounded decisions, regarding amounts, risk analysis, types of currency, duration and times when financial operations are carried out. This requires the application of statistical tools (technical analysis) based on longitudinal data available in secondary information sources and the analysis of the most influential economic indicators in the behavior of the assets mentioned in the document (fundamental analysis). Financial Stability Report - September 2015

From this edition, the Financial Stability Report will have fewer pages with some changes in its structure. The purpose of this change is to present the most relevant facts of the financial system and their implications on the financial stability. This allows displaying the analysis more concisely and clearly, as it will focus on describing the evolution of the variables that have the greatest impact on the performance of the financial system, for estimating then the effect of a possible materialization of these risks on the financial health of the institutions. The changing dynamics of the risks faced by the financial system implies that the content of the Report adopts this new structure; therefore, some analyses and series that were regularly included will not necessarily be in each issue. However, the statistical annex that accompanies the publication of the Report will continue to present the series that were traditionally included, regardless of whether or not they are part of the content of the Report. In this way we expect to contribute in a more comprehensive way to the study and analysis of the stability of the Colombian financial system. Executive Summary During the first half of 2015, the main advanced economies showed a slow recovery on their growth, while emerging economies continued with their slowdown trend. Domestic demand in the United States allowed for stabilization on its average growth for the first half of the year, while other developed economies such as the United Kingdom, the euro zone, and Japan showed a more gradual recovery. On the other hand, the Chinese economy exhibited the lowest growth rate in five years, which has resulted in lower global dynamism. This has led to a fall in prices of the main export goods of some Latin American economies, especially oil, whose price has also responded to a larger global supply. The decrease in the terms of trade of the Latin American economies has had an impact on national income, domestic demand, and growth. This scenario has been reflected in increases in sovereign risk spreads, devaluations of stock indices, and depreciation of the exchange rates of most countries in the region. For Colombia, the fall in oil prices has also led to a decline in the terms of trade, resulting in pressure on the dynamics of national income. Additionally, the lower demand for exports helped to widen the current account deficit. This affected the prospects and economic growth of the country during the first half of 2015. This economic context could have an impact on the payment capacity of debtors and on the valuation of investments, affecting the soundness of the financial system. However, the results of the analysis featured in this edition of the Report show that, facing an adverse scenario, the vulnerability of the financial system in terms of solvency and liquidity is low. The analysis of the current situation of credit institutions (CI) shows that growth of the gross loan portfolio remained relatively stable, as well as the loan portfolio quality indicators, except for microcredit, which showed a decrease in these indicators. Regarding liabilities, traditional sources of funding have lost market share versus non-traditional ones (bonds, money market operations and in the interbank market), but still represent more than 70%. Moreover, the solvency indicator remained relatively stable. As for non-banking financial institutions (NBFI), the slowdown observed during the first six months of 2015 in the real annual growth of the assets total, both in the proprietary and third party position, stands out. The analysis of the main debtors of the financial system shows that indebtedness of the private corporate sector has increased in the last year, mostly driven by an increase in the debt balance with domestic and foreign financial institutions. However, the increase in this latter source of funding has been influenced by the depreciation of the Colombian peso vis-à-vis the US dollar since mid-2014. The financial indicators reflected a favorable behavior with respect to the historical average, except for the profitability indicators; although they were below the average, they have shown improvement in the last year. By economic sector, it is noted that the firms focused on farming, mining and transportation activities recorded the highest levels of risk perception by credit institutions, and the largest increases in default levels with respect to those observed in December 2014. Meanwhile, households have shown an increase in the financial burden, mainly due to growth in the consumer loan portfolio, in which the modalities of credit card, payroll deductible loan, revolving and vehicle loan are those that have reported greater increases in risk indicators. On the side of investments that could be affected by the devaluation in the portfolio of credit institutions and non-banking financial institutions (NBFI), the largest share of public debt securities, variable-yield securities and domestic private debt securities is highlighted. The value of these portfolios fell between February and August 2015, driven by the devaluation in the market of these investments throughout the year. Furthermore, the analysis of the liquidity risk indicator (LRI) shows that all intermediaries showed adequate levels and exhibit a stable behavior. Likewise, the fragility analysis of the financial system associated with the increase in the use of non-traditional funding sources does not evidence a greater exposure to liquidity risk. Stress tests assess the impact of the possible joint materialization of credit and market risks, and reveal that neither the aggregate solvency indicator, nor the liquidity risk indicator (LRI) of the system would be below the established legal limits. The entities that result more individually affected have a low share in the total assets of the credit institutions; therefore, a risk to the financial system as a whole is not observed. Pensar, hacer y proyectar la radio universitaria en Hispanoamérica

Las primeras radios universitarias de Hispanoamérica datan de la segunda década del siglo XX, pero su crecimiento solo fue notorio a partir de los años setenta. En el tránsito al siglo XXI, la radio universitaria se convirtió en un verdadero fenómeno comunicativo, gracias al surgimiento de las emisoras de radio por internet. Actualmente, existe una gran diversidad de propuestas radiales, marcadas por el tipo de institución a la que pertenecen: universidades públicas o universidades privadas, de índole religiosa o secular. Así mismo, y a diferencia de las college radios estadounidenses, donde los estudiantes trabajan con un alto grado de autonomía, la radio universitaria hispanoamericana se caracteriza por un control más directo por parte de las instituciones en las que opera. A causa de su impacto y de sus significativos niveles de audiencia, estas emisoras han creado importantes espacios de práctica para estudiantes de carreras como Comunicación, Música e Ingeniería. Además, han convocado a expertos de las profesiones liberales y las artes y, a veces, le han apostado a proyectos educativos o comunitarios innovadores, que otras propuestas radiales han descuidado. Por todo esto, este libro invita a reflexionar sobre el fenómeno de la radio universitaria —académicamente poco estudiado en la región— a partir de diversos puntos de vista y de distintas experiencias radiales en Colombia, México, Costa Rica, España y Alemania, así como sus apuestas, limitaciones y oportunidades.Bogot

Se presenta el plan tecnológico del Centro de Diseño e Innovación Tecnológico Industrial del SENA para la vigencia 2002 - 2030. Comprende el análisis y diagnóstico de la industria risaraldense, sus necesidades y tendencias, con enfoque a la industria 4.0. Se provee información para: identificar tecnologías y ocupaciones emergentes que permitan anticipar la definición de perfiles de instructores, determinar requerimientos de modernización de infraestructura física y tecnológica del Centro de formación, actualizar, crear o eliminar programas de formación, establecer el tipo de formación, servicios tecnológicos e innovación que el centro de formación ofrecerá en un horizonte de 10 años e identificar los proyectos y actores estratégicos para el centro de formación.The technological plan of the SENA Industrial Technological Design and Innovation Center for the period 2002-2030 is presented. Compromising between European and US allergen immunotherapy schools: Discussions from GUIMIT, the Mexican immunotherapy guidelines

Background: Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) has a longstanding history and still remains the only disease-changing treatment for allergic rhinitis and asthma. Over the years 2 different schools have developed their strategies: the United States (US) and the European. Allergen extracts available in these regions are adapted to local practice. In other parts of the world, extracts from both regions and local ones are commercialized, as in Mexico. Here, local experts developed a national AIT guideline (GUIMIT 2019) searching for compromises between both schools. Methods: Using ADAPTE methodology for transculturizing guidelines and AGREE-II for evaluating guideline quality, GUIMIT selected 3 high-quality Main Reference Guidelines (MRGs): the European Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (EAACI) guideines, the S2k guideline of various German-speaking medical societies (2014), and the US Practice Parameters on Allergen Immunotherapy 2011. We formulated clinical questions and based responses on the fused evidence available in the MRGs, combined with local possibilities, patient's preference, and costs. We came across several issues on which the MRGs disagreed. These are presented here along with arguments of GUIMIT members to resolve them. GUIMIT (for a complete English version, see Supplementary data) concluded the following: Results: Related to the diagnosis of IgE-mediated respiratory allergy, apart from skin prick testing complementary tests (challenges, in vitro testing and molecular such as species-specific allergens) might be useful in selected cases to inform AIT composition. AIT is indicated in allergic rhinitis and suggested in allergic asthma (once controlled) and IgE-mediated atopic dermatitis. Concerning the correct subcutaneous AIT dose for compounding vials according to the US school: dosing tables and formula are given; up to 4 non-related allergens can be mixed, refraining from mixing high with low protease extracts. When using European extracts: the manufacturer's indications should be followed; in multi-allergic patients 2 simultaneous injections can be given (100% consensus); mixing is discouraged. In Mexico only allergoid tablets are available; based on doses used in all sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) publications referenced in MRGs, GUIMIT suggests a probable effective dose related to subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) might be: 50–200% of the monthly SCIT dose given daily, maximum mixing 4 allergens. Also, a table with practical suggestions on non-evidence-existing issues, developed with a simplified Delphi method, is added. Finally, dissemination and implementation of guidelines is briefly discussed, explaining how we used online tools for this in Mexico. Conclusions: Countries where European and American AIT extracts are available should adjust AIT according to which school is followed

Buenas prácticas de manufactura y su contribución al sector panelero.

Este libro aborda la investigación en el contexto educativo y su contribución al desarrollo en procesos productivos paneleros a través de la implementación de buenas prácticas de manufactura, como estrategia de mejoramiento en aspectos ambientales, de seguridad y salud en el trabajo, dando respuesta a necesidades del contexto local y desarrollo de su región. A través de la investigación se lleva a cabo una revisión de procesos productivos del municipio de Guaduas y sus alrededores, especialmente en el sector agrícola, lo que permite evidenciar que el sector panelero es un renglón económico de relevancia en la región, que requiere cualificación del personal que realiza dicha actividad; mejora en el proceso productivo con el fin de obtener un producto de calidad y que contribuya a minimizar los impactos ambientales en el entorno; es por ello que, a través de la implementación de buenas prácticas de manufactura, se desea contribuir al mejoramiento del proceso productivo, incentivando el uso adecuado de recursos naturales, fomentando la cualificación del personal que labora en dicha actividad, y propiciando la búsqueda de la expansión a mercados locales y nacionales de un producto de buena calidad para el consumidor

The Research Journey as a Challenge Towards New Trends

The academic community of the department of Risaralda, in its permanent interest in evidencing the results of the research processes that are carried out from the Higher Education Institutions and as a product of the VI meeting of researchers of the department of Risaralda held in November 2021 presents its work: “The journey of research as a challenge towards new trends”, which reflects the result of the latest research and advances in different lines of knowledge in Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Technology and Information Sciences, which seek to solve and meet the demands of the different sectors.
