Skarby pamięci. Socjologiczna analiza fotografii rodzinnej

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań socjologicznych nad znaczeniem fotografii rodzinnej we współczesnym społeczeństwie. Analizuję fotografię rodzinną jako nośnik pamięci zbiorowej wyrażającej się w interpretatywnym rekonstruowaniu przeszłości w teraźniejszości poprzez jej idealizację i mistyfikację. Fotografia amatorska wpisuje się w szerszy proces wizualizacji współczesnej kultury, a dokonujące się przemiany w obrębie technologii nasilają konsumpcyjny wydźwięk tego zjawiska. Rozwój technologii informatycznej udostępnił nowe formy gromadzenia, przechowywania i eksponowania fotografii. Czy jednak znaczenie tych działań pozostaje takie same, jak w przypadku zdjęć analogowych? Odwołuję się przede wszystkim do dwóch teorii – Maurice’a Halbwachsa oraz Ervinga Goffmana i w oparciu o nie traktuję albumy rodzinne jako wyselekcjonowany i wyidealizowany zbiór rodzinnych reprezentacji poddawanych kreatywnej rekonstrukcji w teraźniejszości, która staje się osią rodzinnej pamięci. Oprócz tego, artykuł dotyka kwestii ontologicznych samej analizy fotografii oraz jej przydatności we współczesnych rozważaniach naukowych socjologów

Proteolytic rafts for improving intraparenchymal migration of minimally invasively administered hydrogel-embedded stem cells

The physiological spaces (lateral ventricles, intrathecal space) or pathological cavities (stroke lesion, syringomyelia) may serve as an attractive gateway for minimally invasive deployment of stem cells. Embedding stem cells in injectable scaffolds is essential when transplanting into the body cavities as they secure favorable microenvironment and keep cells localized, thereby preventing sedimentation. However, the limited migration of transplanted cells from scaffold to the host tissue is still a major obstacle, which prevents this approach from wider implementation for the rapidly growing field of regenerative medicine. Hyaluronan, a naturally occurring polymer, is frequently used as a basis of injectable scaffolds. We hypothesized that supplementation of hyaluronan with activated proteolytic enzymes could be a viable approach for dissolving the connective tissue barrier on the interface between the scaffold and the host, such as pia mater or scar tissue, thus demarcating lesion cavity. In a proof-of-concept study, we have found that collagenase and trypsin immobilized in hyaluronan-based hydrogel retain 60% and 28% of their proteolytic activity compared to their non-immobilized forms, respectively. We have also shown that immobilized enzymes do not have a negative effect on the viability of stem cells (glial progenitors and mesenchymal stem cells) in vitro. In conclusion, proteolytic rafts composed of hyaluronan-based hydrogels and immobilized enzymes may be an attractive strategy to facilitate migration of stem cells from injectable scaffolds into the parenchyma of surrounding tissue

Acclimating Students To College Campus Utilizing Games

The purpose of this project is to see if the usage of a video game given to the students at Mohawk Valley Community college can better acquaint them with the various offices and services found on campus. Students will be given access to the game and asked to complete it in a timely manner. Through qualitative analysis, participating students will be given a survey inquiring about their experience with the game and any gained familiarity with the college. This survey will be completed and handed in to the advisement department. This project is expected to have a positive influence on students by increasing their spatial awareness of the campus for better navigational purposes, as well as giving a better understanding of the key roles and services available at each of the campus offices.SUNY Polytechnic Institut

"Die Aegyptische Finsterniss" – a contribution to the history of Poznań satirical periodicals of the first half of the nineteenth century

Artykuł przedstawia „Die Ägyptische Finsterniss” – niemieckojęzyczne czasopismo satyryczne z 1849 roku. Jest to drugie ze zidentyfikowanych niemieckojęzycznych czasopism satyrycznych wydawanych na terenie Wielkopolski, efemeryda, nienotowana w bibliografiach. Komplet, tj. sześć numerów, zachował się w zbiorach Biblioteki Uniwersyteckiej w Poznaniu. Artykuł nie omawia szczegółowo zawartości, nie analizuje treści poszczególnych artykułów. Przedstawia historię pis-ma, sytuuje je na tle innych ówczesnych poznańskich czasopism satyrycznych. Artykuł rozstrzyga kwestie redakcji, omawia sprawy wydawnicze – periodyczność, cenę, kolportaż, objętość i format, strukturę wewnętrzną pisma.The article presents the journal: Die Aegyptische Finsterniss, a German-language satirical paper from 1849. The journal is the second from a pool of the identified German-language satirical periodicals published in the region (Wielkopolska-Greater Poland). Of transient character and not listed in any bibliography, its full complete edition, i.e. 6 issues in all, is still preserved in the collection of Poznań University Library. The present article does not venture into discussing the content of the journal or analyzing particular articles published in it. It simply shows the history of the journal placing it against the background of other Poznań satirical periodicals of the time. The article establishes certain facts concerning the editorial board and those pertaining to strictly publishing matters such as – periodicity, price, distribution, size and format and the inner structure of the journal
