New Solution for Neutrino Masses and Leptogenesis in Adjoint SU(5)
We investigate baryogenesis via leptogenesis and generation of neutrino
masses and mixings through the Type I plus Type III seesaw plus an one-loop
mechanism in the context of Renormalizable Adjoint SU(5) theory. One light
neutrino remains massless, because the contributions of three heavy Majorana
fermions \rho_0, \rho_3 and \rho_8 to the neutrino mass matrix are not linearly
independent. However none of these heavy fermions is decoupled from the
generation of neutrino masses. This opens a new range in parameter space for
successful leptogenesis, in particular, allows for inverted hierarchy of the

Status of QCD
I have been asked to discuss the status of QCD. It seems to me that there are
three main points to be made about the present status of QCD: QCD is
right, and we can do many beautiful things with it. There are several
important concrete problems that lie just beyond the edge of our current
understanding. There are some foundational issues in QCD, and some
recent developments, that may point toward entirely new directions. These
points will, I believe, emerge quite clearly from the following more detailed
discussion. The discussion will be in three parts. I'll first discuss
elementary processes, then more complicated processes, and then finally

Vacuum Stability, Perturbativity, and Scalar Singlet Dark Matter
We analyze the one-loop vacuum stability and perturbativity bounds on a
singlet extension of the Standard Model (SM) scalar sector containing a scalar
dark matter candidate. We show that the presence of the singlet-doublet quartic
interaction relaxes the vacuum stability lower bound on the SM Higgs mass as a
function of the cutoff and lowers the corresponding upper bound based on
perturbativity considerations. We also find that vacuum stability requirements
may place a lower bound on the singlet dark matter mass for given singlet
quartic self coupling, leading to restrictions on the parameter space
consistent with the observed relic density. We argue that discovery of a light
singlet scalar dark matter particle could provide indirect information on the

Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment and mu -> e gamma in B-L Model with Inverse Seesaw
We study the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, a_\mu, and lepton flavor
violating decay \mu -> e \gamma in TeV scale B-L extension of the Standard
Model (SM) with inverse seesaw mechanism. We show that the B-L contributions to
a_\mu are severely constrained, therefore the SM contribution remains intact.
We also emphasize that the current experimental limit of BR(\mu -> e \gamma)
can be satisfied for a wide range of parameter space and it can be within the

Proposal for generalised Supersymmetry Les Houches Accord for see-saw models and PDG numbering scheme
The SUSY Les Houches Accord (SLHA) 2 extended the first SLHA to include
various generalisations of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) as
well as its simplest next-to-minimal version. Here, we propose further
extensions to it, to include the most general and well-established see-saw
descriptions (types I/II/III, inverse, and linear) in both an effective and a
simple gauged extension of the MSSM framework. In addition, we generalise the

Losing the media battle, waging the policy war: The pharmaceutical industryâs response to the access to medicines crisis in the Global South
This article sheds new light on the pharmaceutical industryâs response to the public relations crisis generated by the global civil society campaign for access to HIV/AIDS medicines since the early 2000s â one of the most contentious policy areas of global trade and health governance. Drawing on interviews with industry insiders, the article explores the industryâs communicative agency in both the media sphere and key sites of power, with a focus on the European Union (EU) policy sphere. The analysis shows that the industry has focused primarily on maintaining access to policymakers and sustaining elite consensus around the existing global intellectual property rights regime through political communication activities that largely bypass mediated public arenas â from strategically promoting its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes and mobilizing third-party endorsement to direct lobbying. The article concludes by reflecting on the implications of the findings for critical investigations of the interplay between media and political power in relation to global economic governance
An end is in sight: a perspective on PCR as an endpoint for Chagas disease treatment trials
Novel therapies for chronic indeterminate Chagas disease (CICD) are needed, but trials are limited by the absence of tests to detect infection and early treatment efficacy. This perspective highlights the shortfalls and strengths of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as a study endpoint for anti-parasitic drug development. Serologic reversion, the gold standard test of cure, may take decades to occur in adults and therefore is challenging as an endpoint for drug development. Use of PCR as a marker of infection and treatment response has notable limitations due to low parasitemia in CICD, fluctuations in circulating (versus tissue) parasite burden, strain differences, and assay performance. It is, however, rapidly responsive to therapy, and technological advances have improved detection of different strains and may allow for parasite quantification. Until we have more sensitive tests for parasitological clearance, PCR as a measure of treatment failure may be the best available efficacy endpoint to accelerate early development of much-needed novel therapies. Adequately designed clinical studies are needed to correlate PCR clearance with clinical outcomes and to identify novel biomarkers predictive of clinical outcomes in patients with CICD. Public-private partnerships and health authority engagement are paramount to identify feasible trial endpoints and deliver promising new drug candidates for Chagas disease
Beyond the standard seesaw: neutrino masses from Kahler operators and broken supersymmetry
We investigate supersymmetric scenarios in which neutrino masses are
generated by effective d=6 operators in the Kahler potential, rather than by
the standard d=5 superpotential operator. First, we discuss some general
features of such effective operators, also including SUSY-breaking insertions,
and compute the relevant renormalization group equations. Contributions to
neutrino masses arise at low energy both at the tree level and through finite
threshold corrections. In the second part we present simple explicit
realizations in which those Kahler operators arise by integrating out heavy
SU(2)_W triplets, as in the type II seesaw. Distinct scenarios emerge,
depending on the mechanism and the scale of SUSY-breaking mediation. In
particular, we propose an appealing and economical picture in which the heavy
seesaw mediators are also messengers of SUSY breaking. In this case, strong
correlations exist among neutrino parameters, sparticle and Higgs masses, as
well as lepton flavour violating processes. Hence, this scenario can be tested
at high-energy colliders, such as the LHC, and at lower energy experiments that
measure neutrino parameters or search for rare lepton decays.Comment: LaTeX, 34 pages; some corrections in Section
