Mindfulness-based emotional regulation for patients with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators: A randomized pilot study of efficacy, applicability, and safety

The efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions to reduce anxiety or improve quality of life (QoL) in patients with cardiac pathologies is well established. However, there is scarce information on the efficacy, applicability, and safety of these interventions in adult patients with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). In this study, we examined their efficacy on QoL, psychological and biomedical variables, as well as the applicability and safety of a mindfulness-based intervention in patients with an ICD. Methods: Ninety-six patients with an ICD were randomized into two intervention groups and a control group. The interventions involved training in mindfulness-based emotional regulation, either face-to- -face or using the “REM Volver a casa” mobile phone application (app). Results: The sample presented medium-high QoL baseline scores (mean: 68), low anxiety (6.84) and depression (3.89), average mindfulness disposition (128), and cardiological parameters similar to other ICD populations. After the intervention, no significant differences were found in the variables studied between the intervention and control groups. Retention was average (59%), and there were no adverse effects due to the intervention. Conclusions: After training in mindfulness-based emotional regulation (face-to-face or via app), no significant differences were found in the QoL or psychological or biomedical variables in patients with an ICD. El mejor gazpacho del mundo. Un cómic en Instagram

El propósito de este proyecto es aprender a realizar un cómic para publicar en Instagram, utilizando el formato de la red social para jugar con la narración. Además, utilizar herramientas digitales, en concreto, el programa Procreate, con un Ipad Pro, como único medio para resolver el dibujo con el fin de mejorar la técnica en digital y, obligarme así, a salir de mi zona de confort, del lápiz y el papel. Por otro lado, pretendo crear un cómic a partir de un tema sencillo, de manera que quede un resultado fresco que se refleje en la misma manera de dibujar y me permita prestar atención a la narración a través de imágenes sin texto, o apenas sin él. De este modo, la idea es generar una imagen que en general quede bien resuelta, acorde con mis gustos personales en dibujo, para que pueda utilizar el perfil de Instagram que cree específicamente para el proyecto como portfolio online.ABSTRACT: The purpose of this project is to learn to make a comic as Instagram as format, using the social network way to play with the narration. El inicio del juicio de residencia a donAlonso de Granada Venegas (Ocaña,Toledo, 1597) : algunas notas sobresu procedimiento

El artículo se centra en el inicio del juicio de residencia a don Alonso de Granada Venegas, noble de ascendencia nazarí, gobernador de la provincia de Castilla la Mancha y Ribera del Tajo perteneciente a la Orden Militar de Santiago desde 1594 a 1597, así como a los oficiales públicos y del concejo de Ocaña, sede de gobernación. La residencia tiene su especificidad propia en tierras de órdenes militares y refleja la problemática existente en torno a este control, que adquiere especial relevancia durante el reinado de Felipe II, donde la compleja burocracia hacía necesaria una información puntual de la situación social, política y económica de cada uno de los territorios gobernados. El gobernador debía mantener un difícil equilibrio entre las facciones locales y las directrices políticas de la monarquía. Las reacciones ante las órdenes cursadas por el juez comisionado don Diego Navarro Galindo relativas a la presentación de fianzas, y la selección de testigos para la residencia secreta permiten observar los primeros conflictos, precursores de una residencia reñida.The article focuses on the beginning of the juicio de residencia to Don Alonso de Granada Venegas, nobleman of moorish descent, governor of the province of Castilla Mancha y Ribera del Tajo, belonging to Military Order of Santiago, from 1594 to 1597, as well as public officials and the town council of Ocaña, seat of government. The residencia has its own specificity in the land of military orders and reflects the existing problems on this control, which is especially important during the reign of Philip II, where the complex bureaucracy necessitated timely information on the social, political and economic each of the territories governed. The governor must maintain a delicate balance between local factions and policy of the monarchy. Atención de enfermería en el trasplante de córnea

La enfermería quirúrgica necesita conocimientos en cuanto a técnicas quirúrgicas, técnicas anestésicas, anatomía, procedimientos, modelos de actuación, protocolos…para llevar a cabo y desarrollar las intervenciones quirúrgicas con las que nos encontramos en nuestro entorno de trabajo. Así mismo, hemos de adaptar y aplicar todos estos conocimientos a cada paciente y a sus necesidades, y tener siempre en cuenta las condiciones de cada uno de los pacientes en cuanto a antecedentes (intervenciones previas, patologías relevantes…) se refiere, para desarrollar nuestro trabajo obteniendo resultados de calidad y disminución de complicaciones. Los procedimientos quirúrgicos oculares son delicados y precisos y se realizan en su mayor parte bajo anestesia local, con el paciente despierto, por lo que su bienestar también constituye un elemento de máxima importancia. Hay que intentar mantener un entorno quirúrgico tranquilo y relajado, actuando de forma rápida, adecuada y precisa, según el momento y el proceso quirúrgico que se esté efectuando. Self-assembly of physically crosslinked micelles of poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulphonic acid-co-isodecyl methacrylate)-copper(II) complexes

Metal complexes were prepared by the reaction of Cu(II) chloride with sodium salt of random copolymers of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulphonic acid, AMPS, and isodecyl methacrylate, i-DMA. Composition was varied in the feed to obtain copolymers and their corresponding metal chelates with different content of i-DMA hydrophobic monomer. The copolymers and their metal chelates were characterized by Fourier transformed IR spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) as well as energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the polymers and their chelates were amorphous. Also, the stabilities of the copolymers and their metal chelates were investigated using thermal methods such as TGA and DSC analysis. Lower thermal stability was found for the polymer–metal complexes compared to that of the copolymers. Fluorescence spectroscopy was used to further confirm the copolymers and their Cu(II) metal complexes self-aggregate in water. Critical micellar concentrations become lower by metal complexation. A synergistic effect in self-assembly behaviour in water solutions of Cu(II) polycomplexes is attributed to the interplay between hydrophilic–hydrophobic interactions and electrostatic forces with Cu²⁺ ions. Physical crosslinking of polymeric micelles obtained by metal complexation led to more stable micelles. Sodium salt copolymers led to secondary aggregation while ionic crosslinking provided lonely micelles distributed through the substrate as seen by SEM. Synthesis and association properties in water solution of random copolymers of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid and isodecyl methacrylate—potential application as surfactants in micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration processes

Hydrophobically modified water-soluble polymers have been prepared by copolymerization of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) and isodecyl methacrylate (iDMA) in N,N-dimethylformamide under nitrogen atmosphere, varying the composition feed. Fluorescence spectroscopy was used to further confirm the copolymers self-aggregate in water. Critical concentration of the self-aggregate formation (CAC) decreased by increasing the molar fraction of iDMA in the AMPSco copolymers and varied between 1.20 and 0.04 g/L depending on the degree of hydrophobic modification. Hence, copolymer composition and charge density allowed tuning the pseudomicellar characteristics of these new amphiphilic copolymers. The addition of a salt or a low-molecular-weight surfactant was studied. Binding of CTAB to the AMPSco copolymers leads to a high decrease of CAC, i.e., 0.006 g/L. Effect of the composition in the viscosimetric behavior of the hydrophobically modified copolymers AMPSco was investigated. The removal of single metal ions, Cu²⁺, and m-cresol from aqueous solutions by ultrafiltration with the help of the copolymers was investigated. Equilibrium dialysis experiments demonstrate that the formation of hydrophobic microdomains can be used to control the sequestration of foulants, and thus these novel copolymers have potential application as polymeric surfactants in micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration processes for water purification

Valuatios of innovative ICT activities in enviromental eucation by training teachers

In a training proposal, consisting of five phases which are divided into two roles for the Pre service Secondary Science Teacher (PSST) -firstly, in the role of student, and secondly in the role of PSST- this work analyzes, according to the second role, the evaluations carried out by the PSST from the Master's Degree in Teacher of Science Education (MDTSE) at the University of Málaga (Spain) on ICT activities, using the annotations on video in a significant environmental situation. Regarding these evaluations, they had to identify contents and educational competences, as well as highlight and argue the advantages and disadvantages of the annotations on video as a teaching resource. The results show a majority tendency to associate the contents with ecological sciences over environmental sciences; for its part, the most frequently cited competition is that of science and technology. Los proyectos interdisciplinares permiten un mayor aprendizaje significativo al alumnado. Nuestro propuesta es un trabajo conjunto de Ciencias Sociales y Ciencias de la Naturaleza en 1º y 2º de ESO, una unidad integrada del Paisaje Andaluz, centrándonos en paisajes agrarios como el viñedo y el olivar.
