“Consumers’ emotions in the digital world: brand love, fomo, and their connection to social media content”
Understanding the emotions consumers go through in relation to brands is a never-ending study, and many concepts have been created to describe these emotions, two of them are brand love, a highly positive passionate emotional connection between consumers and brands, and fear of missing out (FOMO), a fear of not participating in desirable experiences that affects consumers. With the rise of social media, it’s safe to say brands have to find innovative ways to connect and establish healthy relationships with consumers in the digital world, and brands like Spotify are excelling at tampering with positive and negative consumer emotions. This study’s focus and main objective is exploring the manifestations of Brand love and FOMO in the digital context, and discovering if they are connected through content shared on social media. The present exploratory research takes a qualitative approach, and benefited from testimony of 14 participants, of diverse backgrounds, to comprehend the concerned topics. The results showcased a previously unexplored connection between brand love and FOMO and describes how it is established through content sharing, while commenting on topics such as brand love and FOMO, and surrounding topics like overall social media behavior, advertisement, and joy of missing out. This knowledge serves companies by instructing them on how important sharable content can be in the future of digital advertisement
plenos. This paper has the objective of investigating the behavior of learners of Portuguese
foreign language in the interpretation of overt and null subjects in inter and intra-sentence
structures, and in contexts anaphoric and cataphoric when there are two potential
antecedents.
Analyzing two groups of learners with distinct mother language, that demonstrate
substantial differences relating to the parameter of the null subject, the Italian and the
French, tried to understand the role of the mother language in acquiring this parameter in
foreign language. The Italian language, like the Portuguese, is a language of null subject,
it allows the lexicalized omission of the subject in finite prayers. The French, on the other
hand, is a compulsory subject language, i.e. it does not allow the subject phonetic
omission. The phonetic absence of the subject in a finite prayer leads to an ungrammatical
sentence.
The results of an offline sentence interpretation task show that the control group
of the European Portuguese adult speakers, behave as expected, distinguishing null
subjects from overt subjects. The results of the italophone group are close to those of the
control group, while the francophone group is rather distanced from those of the control
group. In this last group it is noted that it is not clear the distribution of tasks existing
between null subjects and overt subjects, the group interprets both null pronouns as overt
pronouns as related to the subject of the prayer matrix. All the informants showed
themselves sensitive to the anaphorical and cataphoric conditions, as well as to the intersentence
and intra-sentence structures.
The results show that the properties of the mother tongue can facilitate the
interpretation of pronominal subjects. The data also show that the interpretation of null
subjects is more stable and precocious
piloto, a operar no regime borbulhante.
energeticamente.
florestais.
ABSTRACT: This work fit with need to find alternative solutions for waste management and
the respective processes of reuse, recycling and valorization, in result of the
risks associated with direct application of waste in soils and legal applicable
requirements.
The work consisted in the evaluation of the poultry litter composting process
which is a rich material in organic matter and with high content of nitrogen.
Two types of tests of poultry litter composting were carried out: laboratorial
scale and pilot scale. In laboratorial scale tests the objective was to study the
composting process controlling some of the fundamental parameters of the
process and quantify the NH3 emissions. In tests on the pilot scale, with
composters exposed to the conditions of the environment, the objective was to
analyze the characteristics of the process when it occurs naturally and evaluate
the stability of the compost produced through the seed test.
In both types of tests for composting the material temperature and carbon
dioxid content through the gaseous phase were monitored along the process,
as well as the periodic solid phase characterization concerning to: humidity,
volatile solids, pH and nitrogen content.
The experimental results allowed to conclude that the obtain compost has
adequate characteristics to apply on soil and favorable to plants growth.
Related to the nitrogen distribution during the process, laboratorial tests
permitted to realize that there is always a considerable mobility of amoniacal
nitrogen from the solid to the gaseous phase specially when the composting
process occurs at higher temperatures (T=55ºC).
The present work also studied the probability of energetic valorisation from
waste (composted and non-composted). For this purpose, combustion
experiments were conducted in a bubbling fluidized bed combustor at pilot
scale. One of the objectives of the tests is to evaluate in which way the
composting of the waste is able to improve its properties if the energetic
valorization is intended.
During the experiences of combustion was examined the composition of the
gaseous effluent in terms of the concentration of CO2, CO, O2 and NO and its
relationship with the operative conditions (temperature, excess air and
composition of the fuel mixture). It was found that the composting contributes to
the reduction of emission of NOx, when the combustion occurs in the adequate
conditions, such as for example with 50% excess air, however it would be
necessary to reduce the concentration of CO. The combustion of composted
and non-composted waste also presented some problems of operation, such
as agglomeration of the bed and deposition of ash in the installation.
It will be possible to obtain a reasonable compromise between the emissions of
CO and NOx in exhaustion gases and minimize operating problems with a cocombustion
of composted poultry litter with pellets of wood wastes
Assessing the economic value of academic libraries: a case study in the University of Lisbon
The assessment of academic libraries is an important management issue of the services and of Library Advocacy. Determining the monetary value of the services may be an interesting element at a time when there are constraints on the budgets of the institutions. The main aim of this paper is to calculate the tangible value in monetary terms of certain services of two libraries of the University of Lisbon. In this task we use six statistical indicators: document loans, accesses to the Internet; accesses to computers, accesses to journals, training, and interlibrary loans. The method to calculate the monetary value for specialized quality service is to verify the current market value of the service, ie., the current price of the service that can be bought or sold in the free market (ISO16439:2014). According to this investigation, we calculate the monetary values for these indicators. The cost-benefit value is also calculated, that is, the return on investment, the relationship between the total economic benefit of these indicators and the total resources invested in the library according to these indicators.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
eventos.
Financial distress prediction models are a valuable tool at the economic and financial level
since, in addition to allowing companies to assess their financial situation, they function as a means
of support of corporations' strategy and operating activities management. In this sense, these
models reveal their importance by representing a tool that helps economic agents in decision making with regard to anticipate possible insolvency scenarios, preventing, as far as possible, the
occurrence of such events.
In this context, this dissertation proposes a logistic model capable of predicting financial
distress of listed companies in the Eurozone, providing predictive ability up to five years before the
event occurs. The insolvency situation determinants included in the final distress model are
economic and financial ratios, tested using Multiple Discriminant Analysis as a preliminary analysis,
and Logistic Analysis as the main method of analysis.
The sample used in this study is formed of insolvent companies and healthy companies
from the Eurozone and listed on stock exchange markets, covering the 2006 to 2021 period,
inclusive. The data was collected from Moody's Analytics' ORBIS Europe and Refinitiv DataStream
and Worldscope.
The final logistic model for forecasting financial distress is composed of variables that have
revealed the greatest predictive ability regarding insolvency prediction, namely: Return on Sales,
Market Value of Sales, Leverage, Solvency, Retained Earnings, and Size. Furthermore, this model
passed through different robustness tests, revealing a good predictive capacity with an associated
precision level of 80%, up to five years before the insolvency situation
Phylogenetic analysis and accessory genome diversity reveal insight into the evolutionary history of Streptococcus dysgalactiae
LA/P/0140/2020Streptococcus dysgalactiae (SD) is capable of infecting both humans and animals and causing a wide range of invasive and non-invasive infections. With two subspecies, the taxonomic status of subspecies of SD remains controversial. Subspecies equisimilis (SDSE) is an important human pathogen, while subspecies dysgalactiae (SDSD) has been considered a strictly animal pathogen; however, occasional human infections by this subspecies have been reported in the last few years. Moreover, the differences between the adaptation of SDSD within humans and other animals are still unknown. In this work, we provide a phylogenomic analysis based on the single-copy core genome of 106 isolates from both the subspecies and different infected hosts (animal and human hosts). The accessory genome of this species was also analyzed for screening of genes that could be specifically involved with adaptation to different hosts. Additionally, we searched putatively adaptive traits among prophage regions to infer the importance of transduction in the adaptation of SD to different hosts. Core genome phylogenetic relationships segregate all human SDSE in a single cluster separated from animal SD isolates. The subgroup of bovine SDSD evolved from this later clade and harbors a specialized accessory genome characterized by the presence of specific virulence determinants (e.g., cspZ) and carbohydrate metabolic functions (e.g., fructose operon). Together, our results indicate a host-specific SD and the existence of an SDSD group that causes human–animal cluster infections may be due to opportunistic infections, and that the exact incidence of SDSD human infections may be underestimated due to failures in identification based on the hemolytic patterns. However, more detailed research into the isolation of human SD is needed to assess whether it is a carrier phenomenon or whether the species can be permanently integrated into the human microbiome, making it ready to cause opportunistic infections.publishersversionpublishe
Inteligência Artificial em Radiologia: Do Processamento de Imagem ao Diagnóstico
The objective of this article is to present a view on the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on processing medical images, in particular in relation to diagnostic. This topic is currently attracting major attention in both the medical and engineering communities, as demonstrated by the number of recent tutorials [1-3] and review articles [4-6] that address it, with large research hospitals, as well as engineering research centers contributing to the area. Furthermore, several large companies like General Electric (GE), IBM/Merge, Siemens, Philips or Agfa, as well as more specialized companies and startups are integrating AI into their medical imaging products. The evolution of GE in this respect is interesting. GE SmartSignal software was developed for industrial applications to identify impending equipment failures well before they happen. As written in the GE prospectus, with this added lead time, one can transform from reactive maintenance to a more proactive maintenance process, allowing the workforce to focus on fixing problems rather than looking for them. With this background experience from the industrial field, GE developed predictive analytics products for clinical imaging, that embodied the Predictive component of P4 medicine (predictive, personalized, preventive, participatory). Another interesting example is the Illumeo software from Philips that embeds adaptive intelligence, i. e. the capacity to improve its automatic reasoning process from its past experience, to automatically pop out related prior exams for radiology in face of a concrete situation. Actually, with its capacity to tackle massive amounts of data of different sorts (imaging data, patient exam reports, pathology reports, patient monitoring signals, data from implantable electrophysiology devices, and data from many other sources) AI is certainly able to yield a decisive contribution to all the components of P4 medicine. For instance, in the presence of a rare disease, AI methods have the capacity to review huge amounts of prior information when confronted to the patient clinical data
Importance of nutritional counseling and dietary fiber content on glycemic control in type 2 diabetic patients under intensive educational intervention
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the importance of nutritional counseling within a set of multidisciplinary interventions. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Forty-seven patients with type 2 diabetes and hyperglycemia (A1C > 8%), treated conventionally (n = 19, GC) or intensively in six weekly visits (n = 28, GI) were analyzed. We evaluated mean weekly blood glucose (MWG) at baseline and after 6 weeks in both groups. RESULTS: GI reduced caloric (p = 0.001), carbohydrate (p = 0.004), and fat (p = 0.001) intake, and increased fiber consumption, while GC reduced fiber intake (p = 0.018). Glycemic control (MWG < 150 mg/dL) occurred in 75% of GI patients and in 31.6% of CG patients (p = 0.003), with negative correlation between changes in fiber intake and MWG values (r =-0.309; P = 0.035). Results were maintained after 12 weeks. CONCLUSION: Educational short-term intensive intervention was more effective than conventional treatment to achieve glycemic control. Our results also indicate that a more appropriate fiber content in the diet contributes for better blood glucose control in these patients.OBJETIVO: Avaliar a orientação nutricional dentro de um conjunto de intervenções multidisciplinares.
