Notas acerca de la epigrafía granadina: Ordo Accitanorum Veterum y Colonia Iulia Gemella Acci
It is analyzed in this work a new document epigraphic appeared in the Farm of Periate (Piñar, Granada ) in the one that mentions you for the first time in the Iberian Península the Ordo Accitanorum Veterum and an individual, L. Aemilius Propinquus, to who is denominated accitanus veteris. The Hispanic municipalities are studied with the nickname Vetus: Astigi, Tucci and Acci, reaching the conclusion that these, after the foundation of their respective colonies, continued existing as independent municipalities, although they had to give part of their territory and, in occasions, to pay a compensation to Rome . The appearance of this document in Periate, where Acci Vetus is located, it is an evident test of the continuity of the municipality during the High Empire.
In this document, data from a destructive sampling of a Cupressus sempervirens hedgerow are shown, as well as the followed methodology. Measures of sizes and weights have been taken. With these data, moisture content, fuel load and bulk density have been calculated. Different fuel classes (state and diameter) have been taken into account.Postprint (updated version
Optical pumping of charged excitons in unintentionally doped InAs quantum dots
As an alternative to commonly used electrical methods, we have investigated
the optical pumping of charged exciton complexes addressing impurity related
transitions with photons of the appropriate energy. Under these conditions, we
demonstrate that the pumping fidelity can be very high while still maintaining
a switching behavior between the different excitonic species. This mechanism
has been investigated for single quantum dots of different size present in the
same sample and compared with the direct injection of spectator electrons from
nearby donors.Comment: 4 pages and 3 figures submitted to AP
The EHEA and the Technical Competence: The New Degrees in Translation
English version of abstract: The present paper takes Muñoz Ramos (2012) as its starting point. In first place, we will provide a brief summary of the EHEA since its beginning until nowadays, including its evolution and consequences within Translation Studies. We will show the
connection between the principles of the Bologna Process and the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which are the perfect partner for the achievement of the Bologna Declaration targets. Finally, we will be able to observe the way in which these two points meet in the new Spanish degrees in Translation, according to the EHEA, which have found in translation technologies their cornerstone
Technical Note TN 2.4. Fuel sampling, tree ignition and burning tests in ADAI facilities
In this document, the followed methodology to characterize several natural fuels (trees of Cupressus arizonica, Cupressocyparis leylandii, Prunus laurocerasus and Thuja occidentalis) is presented. Also, the ignition method and the equipment used to monitor the burning of these fuels in two different configurations are described. These activities were performed in ADAI facilities (Lousa, Portugal).Preprin
Stochastic theory of synchronization transitions in extended systems
We propose a general Langevin equation describing the universal properties of synchronization transitions in extended systems. By means of theoretical arguments and numerical simulations we show that the proposed equation exhibits, depending on parameter values: (i) a continuous transition in the bounded Kardar-Parisi-Zhang universality class, with a zero largest Lyapunov exponent at the critical point; (ii) a continuous transition in the directed percolation class, with a negative Lyapunov exponent, or (iii) a discontinuous transition (that is argued to be possibly just a transient effect). Cases (ii) and (iii) exhibit coexistence of synchronized and unsynchronized phases in a broad (fuzzy) region. This reproduces almost all of the reported features of synchronization transitions, providing a unified theoretical framework for the analysis of synchronization transitions in extended systems.Postprint (published version
The entropic origin of disassortativity in complex networks
Why are most empirical networks, with the prominent exception of social ones,
generically degree-degree anticorrelated, i.e. disassortative? With a view to
answering this long-standing question, we define a general class of
degree-degree correlated networks and obtain the associated Shannon entropy as
a function of parameters. It turns out that the maximum entropy does not
typically correspond to uncorrelated networks, but to either assortative
(correlated) or disassortative (anticorrelated) ones. More specifically, for
highly heterogeneous (scale-free) networks, the maximum entropy principle
usually leads to disassortativity, providing a parsimonious explanation to the
question above. Furthermore, by comparing the correlations measured in some
real-world networks with those yielding maximum entropy for the same degree
sequence, we find a remarkable agreement in various cases. Our approach
provides a neutral model from which, in the absence of further knowledge
regarding network evolution, one can obtain the expected value of correlations.
In cases in which empirical observations deviate from the neutral predictions
-- as happens in social networks -- one can then infer that there are specific
correlating mechanisms at work.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures. Accepted in Phys. Rev. Lett. (2010
In Search of Balance between Regulation and Selfregulation of Online Behavioral Advertising
Behavioral advertising is the advertising market bet the rapid growth of the industry in the network. The installation and use of cookies on users’ devices allows this commercial practice, and at the same time, they have the rights of users and control their personal data or privacy. European policies have responded to this problem with the principle of prior consent (optin) against recent industry initiatives and inspired by American ideas of selfregulation. There is clearly a need for an agency agreement and balance public and private interests involved in this conflict
