Effects of contract and trust on franchisor performance

The franchisor-franchisee relationship is governed by contracts and trust. This paper analyzes how formal (contracts) and relational (trust) governance mechanisms affected franchisor performance in a service sector franchise for the period 2008¬2015. Using the SOM method in the empirical analysis, the results revealed that trust-based governance was more prominent than contractbased governance in the multi-unit franchise network and the cross-franchising network, negatively affecting franchisor performance in the multi-unit franchise network and positively affecting franchisor performance in the cross-franchising network. In contrast, contracts were more prominent than trust in single-unit franchising, negatively affecting franchisor performance. The primary practical implication is that the franchisor should prevent franchisees in the MUF network from opening new outlets in the same city and competing for the existing outlet’s customers

La publicidad comportamental en línea es la apuesta del mercado publicitario al vertiginoso crecimiento de la industria en la red. La instalación y uso de las cookies en los dispositivos de los usuarios es lo que posibilita esta práctica comercial, pero, al mismo tiempo, pone en jaque derechos de los usuarios como el control de sus datos personales o su derecho a la intimidad. Las políticas europeas han respondido a esta controversia poniendo el acento en el principio del consentimiento previo (optin), sin embargo, las recientes iniciativas de autorregulación puestas en marcha por la industria e inspiradas por el planteamiento estadounidense, no parecen respetar del todo este principio. Resulta evidente la necesidad de un acuerdo y equilibrio ente los intereses públicos y privados implicados en este conflicto.Behavioral advertising is the advertising market bet the rapid growth of the industry in the network. The installation and use of cookies on users’ devices allows this commercial practice, and at the same time, they have the rights of users and control their personal data or privacy. La construcción de la imagen de marca «Andalucía» como destino turístico a través de las campañas publicitarias «Smail you are in Andalucía» y «Andalucía te quiere»

This paper analyzes the institutional advertising of Andalucía. The objective is to understand the meanings associated with the tourism brand of «Andalusia». The research technique used is «content analysis» and «sample» is three national and international advertising campaigns funded by the «Junta de Andalucía». Results show that brand «Andalucía» is associated, in all advertisements, with the meanings «sun and sand». However, there are meanings that are associated with «Andalucía» depending on «consumer representation» of each ad, such as «golf».Este trabajo analiza la semántica de la marca «Andalucía» en las campañas publicitarias de promoción turística «Smail you are in Andalucía» y «Andalucía te quiere». A través del «análisis de contenido» se ha elaborado un esquema semántico de la marca «Andalucía» que recoge el discurso común presente en las tres campañas. A su vez, se identifican las promesas y significados que actúan de manera singular en cada anuncio como propuestas o valores añadidos según el tipo de consumidor destinatario del mensaje

Conflict. Case study of a young girl after a family reunification process

El presente estudio de caso aborda la evolución de una de las participantes del taller de arteterapia “Sentirse en casa” organizado por el Máster de arteterapia UCM/ Grupo de investigación 941035 dentro del proyecto ARIADNE:”Art and adaptation in intercultural enviroments” en el que trabajamos con adolescentes y familias reagrupadas. Semi-occlusive dressing therapy versus surgical treatment in fingertip amputation injuries: a clinical study.

OBJECTIVES Treatment of fingertip amputations is subject of controversial debates. Recently, semi-occlusive dressings have increased in popularity in these injuries. AIMS To compare clinical outcomes of conservative semi-occlusive dressing therapy versus surgical treatment of fingertip amputations. METHODS Eighty-four patients with fingertip amputations were re-examined clinically after a mean follow-up of 28.1 months (range 9.6-46.2). Sixty-six patients (79%) were treated with semi-occlusive dressings (group 1) and 18 (21%) underwent surgery (group 2). Range of motion, grip strength, and two-point discrimination were measured at the final follow-up. Furthermore, VAS score, Quick-DASH score, subjective aesthetic outcome and loss of working days were obtained. RESULTS Group 1 demonstrated healing in all 66 patients (100%) while in Group 2 5 out of 18 patients (28%) failed to achieve healing after a mean of 17 days (range 2-38) due to graft necrosis. Group 1 showed significantly lower VAS scores and significantly lower loss of two-point discrimination compared to Group 2. Work absence was significantly shorter in Group 1 versus Group 2. Trophic changes in finger (46%) and nail (30%) were significantly lower in Group 1 compared to Group 2 (44% and 70%, respectively). Disturbance during daily business activities (14%) and cold sensitivity (23%) were significantly lower in Group 1 compared to Group 2 (86% and 77%, respectively). CONCLUSIONS Semi-occlusive dressing therapy for fingertip amputations demonstrated excellent healing rates. Compared to surgical treatment, it resulted in significantly better clinical outcomes, lower complication rates and significantly higher reported satisfaction rates. Therefore, semi-occlusive dressing for fingertip injuries is a very successful procedure and shall be preferred over surgical treatment in most cases. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE III therapeutic

En el presente artículo se realizará una aproximación a la regulación jurídica de la publicidad institucional de las Administraciones Públicas. Primero, se realizará un estado de la cuestión. A continuación, se explicará la naturaleza de esta modalidad publicitaria caracterizada por ser una comunicación informativa cargada de persuasión. Posteriormente, se estudiará el marco jurídico en el que se encuadra dicha comunicación y las controversias causadas por esta publicidad como el “autobombo”, el descrédito de los competidores, la financiación y la falta de transparencia.This study examines approach the legal regulation of public service advertising. Estudio de impacto ambiental del proyecto de Nuevo eje Hospital Virgen de los Lirios con Autovía del Mediterráneo (A-7), T.M. Alcoy

[EN] The Environmental Impact Study that has been written depicts de road project that links the Hospital Virgen de los Lirios with the A-7. This project consists of: Defining the axis that connects the A-7 with the Virgen de los Lirios public hospital. Study and consider if the proposal is environmentally viable or if no further action should be taken. This project will enhance the connection between neighbouring towns and the Alcoy public hospital, completely facilitating the access. Description of the action and derivative responses: The actions that comprise this present project are clearly divided into two phases: Expanding the platform of the current Poblado Nuevo de San Rafael road (Camí del Poble Nou a Alcoi) The construction of a new road, including a bridge that exceeds the channel of the river Serpis. The proposed road will run from East to West according to progress of Pk¿s. The starting point is located on the A-7 (Mediterranean Highway) along Alcoy, right on the spot where it crosses through the current Poblado Nuevo San Rafael road, and the end of it is located in the Santa Teresa Jornet road (Alcoy) next to the Caramanxell sports centre. A series of actions are present throughout the construction and exploitation phases, all of which have been studied in the memory. Alternative Examination: The stated path (alternative 1)has been acquired as best alternative, as the majority of the other possible alternatives (and action zones) where already raised on the Francisco Aura Boronat bridge project and resulted environmentally unviable. Environmental Inventory: Data about the natural environment and socio-economic environment has been obtained in the environmental inventory. The most notable feature of the area, also included in the environmental inventory, is the location of the Protected Landscape of the Serpis river, which is under construction. Identification and evaluation of impacts: Several matrixes have been executed for both alternatives, in one of them the impacts where identified (matrix cause-effect), the other one proceeds to the evaluation and further input of numerical values to obtain the value of the impact of both alternatives. The actions in the operating phase for both alternatives are the same, but the social effects are negative in Alternative 2 and positive in Alternative 1. It has also been kept in mind that in the alternative corresponding to this action, negative effects are related to the construction phase. An Environmental Monitoring Program has also been developed, establishing the aspects and monitoring indicators, both for the construction and operation implementation phase, and the warranty period. Finally the EIS contains the corresponding summary document.[ES] Se ha redactado el Estudio de Impacto Ambiental del proyecto de carretera que una el Hospital Virgen de los Lirios con la A-7 , que consiste en: Definir el eje que conecte la A-7 (T.M.Alcoy) con el Hospital Público Virgen de los Lirios. Estudiar si la propuesta es viable medioambientalmente o si conviene no realizar ninguna actuación. Este proyecto mejorará la conexión desde los pueblos vecinos al Hospital Público de Alcoy, facilitando completamente el acceso. Descripción de la actuación y sus acciones derivadas: Las actuaciones que comprenden el presente proyecto se dividen claramente en dos fases: La ampliación de plataforma del actual camino del Poblado Nuevo de San Rafael (Camí del Poble Nou a Alcoi). La construcción de un nuevo vial, incluyendo este un puente que sobrepasará el cauce del río Serpis. La carretera proyectada discurrirá de este a oeste según avance de Pk¿s. Inventario ambiental: En el inventario ambiental se han obtenido datos tanto del medio natural como del medio socioeconómico. El rasgo más destacable de la zona e incluido en el inventario ambiental es la localización del Paisaje Protegido del río Serpis, el cual se ve atravesado por las obras. Identificación y valoración de impactos: Se han realizado distintas matrices para ambas alternativas, en una de ellas se identificaban los impactos (matriz causa-efecto), en la siguiente se procede a la valoración y posteriormente se le han introducido valores numéricos obteniendo así un valor de impacto para cada una de ellas. Además, se han establecido una serie de medidas correctoras y protectoras tanto para la fase de construcción como para la de funcionamiento. Especialmente centradas en los espacios naturales (protección del Paisaje Protegido del Serpis), en la fauna y flora y en la población (tanto por la generación de ruido, vibraciones, etc.) También se ha desarrollado un Programa de vigilancia ambiental, estableciendo los aspectos e indicadores de seguimiento, tanto para la fase de ejecución de obras y para la fase de explotación como para el periodo de garantía.
