Gestión óptima de aguas subterráneas : regulación frente a no regulación

    Get PDF
In this paper two management models of groundwater (control and no-control) are compared. The difference between these models is that in the first one user cost is considered whilst in the second one is not. The groundwater demand is disaggregated by crops, which makes possible to obtain an inter and intratemporal resource allocation. Furthermore, an application to the aquifer of Ascoy-Sopalmo (Segura Basin) is carried out. From the present value of the farmer's net surplus, derived in both models, we can conclude that the efficiency loss is minimum for normal values of the discount rate and recharge rate

Observational evidence of the formation of cyanopolyynes in CRL618 through the polimerization of HCN

The abundance ratio of consecutive members of the cyanopolyynes family has been explored in CRL618 using data acquired in a complete line survey covering the frequency range 81-356 GHz. The Jup range explored for the different molecules is the following: 1 to 4 for HCN and HNC, 9 to 39 for HC3N, 31 to 133 for HC5N, and 72 to 85 for HC7N (not detected beyond Jup=85). The lowest vibrationally excited state of HC7N (nu_15 at 62 cm^-1) has been tentatively detected. Data analysis has been performed by extending our previous geometrical and radiative transfer model of the slowly expanding envelope (SEE) surrounding the compact central continuum source of CRL 618, that was established from the study of rotational lines in several vibrationally excited states of HC_3N. The new lines analyzed here require to model the high velocity wind (HVW) component and the colder circumstellar gas, remnant of the AGB phase of CRL618. The derived HC3N/HC5N and HC5N/HC7N abundance ratios from this set of uniformly calibrated lines are between 3 and 6 in the different regions, similar to standard values in the CSM and ISM, and consistent with previous estimates obtained from ISO observations and chemical models. However, the abundance ratios of HC3N, HC5N and HC7N with respect to HCN are at least two orders of magnitude larger than those typical for AGB C-rich stars, such as IRC+10216. This fact indicates that, in the short transition toward the Planetary Nebula phase, HCN is quickly reprocessed into longer cyanopolyyne chains. A similar behavior was previously found in this object for the polyacetylenic chains (C(2n)H2).Comment: 8 figures, accepted in ApJ main journa

The correlation of some angular magnitudes is used to evaluate the positional and orientational correlations in the liquid as well as in the rotator phase. The results show significant similitudes in the relative position of the molecules surrounding a central one but striking differences in their relative orientations, which could explain the changes in SRO between the two phases and the puzzling behavior of the local density in the liquid and rotator phases. © 2007 The American Physical Society. We would also like to acknowledge “Generalitat de Catalunya” Project No. 2005SGR- 00535 and MEC Project No. FIS2005-00975 for partial support of this work.Peer Reviewe

Toward the biochemical assessment of myocardial fibrosis in hypertensive patients

The serum concentrations of amino-terminal procollagen type III and carboxy-terminal procollagen type I-derived peptides, which have been proposed as useful markers of the tissue synthesis of collagen types III and type I, respectively, were abnormally increased in patients with essential hypertension and became normal after angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition. An association was found between baseline serum concentrations of these peptides and left ventricular hypertrophy, diastolic dysfunction, and ventricular arrhythmias in hypertensive patients. On the other hand, increased serum concentration of the carboxy-terminal procollagen type I-derived peptide was found in spontaneously hypertensive rats compared with normotensive Wistar-Kyoto control rats. An association was found between the serum concentration of this peptide and the extent of myocardial fibrosis and the hydroxyproline concentration in the left ventricle of spontaneously hypertensive rats. It is proposed that procollagen-derived peptides in serum may be markers of exaggerated collagen tissue synthesis involved in hypertensive myocardial fibrosis

Improving Indicators of Hydrological Alteration in Regulated and Complex Water Resources Systems: A Case Study in the Duero River Basin

[EN] Assessing the health of hydrological systems is vital for the conservation of river ecosystems. The indicators of hydrologic alteration are among the most widely used parameters. They have been traditionally assessed at the scale of river reaches. However, the use of such indicators at the basin scale is relevant for water resource management since there is an urgent need to meet environmental objectives to mitigate the effects of present and future climatic conditions. This work proposes a methodology to estimate the indicators of hydrological alteration at the basin scale in regulated systems based on simulations with a water allocation model. The methodology is illustrated through a case study in the Iberian Peninsula (the Duero River basin), where different minimum flow scenarios were defined, assessing their effects on both the hydrological alteration and the demand guarantees. The results indicate that it is possible to improve the hydrological status of some subsystems of the basin without affecting the water demand supplies. Thus, the methodology presented in this work will help decision makers to optimize water management while improving the hydrological status of the river basins. This research was funded by the Spanish Research Agency (AEI), grant number PID2019-106322RB-100; AEI/10.13039/501100011033. Strain-induced coupling of electrical polarization and structural defects in SrMnO3 films

Letter.-- et al.Local perturbations in complex oxides, such as domain walls, strain and defects, are of interest because they can modify the conduction or the dielectric and magnetic response, and can even promote phase transitions. Here, we show that the interaction between different types of local perturbations in oxide thin films is an additional source of functionality. Taking SrMnO 3 as a model system, we use nonlinear optics to verify the theoretical prediction that strain induces a polar phase, and apply density functional theory to show that strain simultaneously increases the concentration of oxygen vacancies. These vacancies couple to the polar domain walls, where they establish an electrostatic barrier to electron migration. The result is a state with locally structured room-temperature conductivity consisting of conducting nanosized polar domains encased by insulating domain boundaries, which we resolve using scanning probe microscopy. Our 'nanocapacitor' domains can be individually charged, suggesting stable capacitance nanobits with a potential for information storage technology.M.F., D.M. and M.L. acknowledge funding from grant ‘ETH-06 12-2’ and from SNF proposal no. 200021-149192. Comparación de la eficacia y seguridad diagnóstica entre el estudio isotópico hepatobiliar y la ecografía en la colecistitis aguda

    Get PDF
