    Highly stretchable and sensitive self-powered sensors based on the N-Type thermoelectric effect of polyurethane/Na_{x}(Ni-ett)_{n}/graphene oxide composites

    The development of stretchable organic thermoelectric materials is prompted by fast evolving application fields like flexible electronic devices, soft robotics, health monitoring and internet-of-things. Stretchability in thermoelectric materials is usually obtained by using an insulating elastomer, either as a substrate or as a matrix in a blend or composite, which, unfortunately, leads to a compromise in thermoelectric performance. Herein, a potential solution is reported exploiting the addition of graphene oxide as a secondary (nano)filler in a polyurethane/poly nickel-ethenetetrathiolates film. Compared with traditional binary blends, our ternary composite shows an increased electrical conductivity (4 times), air-stability (∼20 times after 3 months), and stretchability (38% increase in strain at break). With a gauge factor (GF) of ∼58, this new composite film shows high sensitivity to tensile strain. Thanks to its Seebeck coefficient of ∼ −40 μV K^{−1}, the composite film can generate a thermopower of ∼0.25 pW when subjected to a small temperature difference (30 °C), which could be exploited by self-powered strain sensors. Therefore, the ternary polyurethane/poly nickel-ethenetetrathiolates/graphene oxide composite film can work as a stretchable strain sensor, providing a strategy to reconcile the compromise between thermoelectric performance and stretchability

    Quasiparticle interfacial level alignment of highly hybridized frontier levels: H2_2O on TiO2_2(110)

    Knowledge of the frontier levels' alignment prior to photo-irradiation is necessary to achieve a complete quantitative description of H2_2O photocatalysis on TiO2_2(110). Although H2_2O on rutile TiO2_2(110) has been thoroughly studied both experimentally and theoretically, a quantitative value for the energy of the highest H2_2O occupied levels is still lacking. For experiment, this is due to the H2_2O levels being obscured by hybridization with TiO2_2(110) levels in the difference spectra obtained via ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy (UPS). For theory, this is due to inherent difficulties in properly describing many-body effects at the H2_2O-TiO2_2(110) interface. Using the projected density of states (DOS) from state-of-the-art quasiparticle (QP) G0W0G_0W_0, we disentangle the adsorbate and surface contributions to the complex UPS spectra of H2_2O on TiO2_2(110). We perform this separation as a function of H2_2O coverage and dissociation on stoichiometric and reduced surfaces. Due to hybridization with the TiO2_2(110) surface, the H2_2O 3a1_1 and 1b1_1 levels are broadened into several peaks between 5 and 1 eV below the TiO2_2(110) valence band maximum (VBM). These peaks have both intermolecular and interfacial bonding and antibonding character. We find the highest occupied levels of H2_2O adsorbed intact and dissociated on stoichiometric TiO2_2(110) are 1.1 and 0.9 eV below the VBM. We also find a similar energy of 1.1 eV for the highest occupied levels of H2_2O when adsorbed dissociatively on a bridging O vacancy of the reduced surface. In both cases, these energies are significantly higher (by 0.6 to 2.6 eV) than those estimated from UPS difference spectra, which are inconclusive in this energy region. Finally, we apply self-consistent QPGWGW (scQPGWGW1) to obtain the ionization potential of the H2_2O-TiO2_2(110) interface.Comment: 12 pages, 12 figures, 1 tabl

    We present results of a search for R-parity-violating decay of the neutralino chi_1^0, taken to be the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle. It is assumed that this decay proceeds through one of the lepton-number violating couplings lambda-prime_2jk (j=1,2; k=1,2,3).     We describe Quaero, a method that i) enables the automatic optimization of searches for physics beyond the standard model, and ii) provides a mechanism for making high energy collider data generally available. We apply Quaero to searches for standard model WW, ZZ, and ttbar production, and to searches for these objects produced through a new heavy resonance.     A Quasi-Model-Independent Search for New Physics at Large Transverse Momentum

    We apply a quasi-model-independent strategy ("Sleuth") to search for new high p_T physics in approximately 100 pb^-1 of ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV collected by the DZero experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron. Over thirty-two e mu X, W+jets-like, Z+jets-like, and 3(lepton/photon)X exclusive final states are systematically analyzed for hints of physics beyond the standard model. Simultaneous sensitivity to a variety of models predicting new phenomena at the electroweak scale is demonstrated by testing the method on a particular signature in each set of final states. No evidence of new high p_T physics is observed in the course of this search, and we find that 89% of an ensemble of hypothetical similar experimental runs would have produced a final state with a candidate signal more interesting than the most interesting observed in these data.Comment: 28 pages, 17 figures.     We present a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays of pair-produced top quarks in pbar p collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV using 62.2 pb^-1 of data recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. No evidence is found for signal, and we exclude at 95% confidence most regions of the (M higgs, tan beta) parameter space where the decay t->H b has a branching fraction greater than 0.36 and B(H -> tau nu) is large.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Phys.     Big data-driven fuzzy cognitive map for prioritising IT service procurement in the public sector

    YesThe prevalence of big data is starting to spread across the public and private sectors however, an impediment to its widespread adoption orientates around a lack of appropriate big data analytics (BDA) and resulting skills to exploit the full potential of big data availability. In this paper, we propose a novel BDA to contribute towards this void, using a fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) approach that will enhance decision-making thus prioritising IT service procurement in the public sector. This is achieved through the development of decision models that capture the strengths of both data analytics and the established intuitive qualitative approach. By taking advantages of both data analytics and FCM, the proposed approach captures the strength of data-driven decision-making and intuitive model-driven decision modelling. This approach is then validated through a decision-making case regarding IT service procurement in public sector, which is the fundamental step of IT infrastructure supply for publics in a regional government in the Russia federation. The analysis result for the given decision-making problem is then evaluated by decision makers and e-government expertise to confirm the applicability of the proposed BDA.     Improved W boson mass measurement with the D0 detector

    We have measured the W boson mass using the D0 detector and a data sample of 82 pb^-1 from the Tevatron collider. This measurement used W -> e nu decays, where the electron is close to a boundary of a central electromagnetic calorimeter module. Such 'edge' electrons have not been used in any previous D0 analysis, and represent a 14% increase in the W boson sample size. For these electrons, new response and resolution parameters are determined, and revised backgrounds and underlying event energy flow measurements are made. When the current measurement is combined with previous D0 W boson mass measurements, we obtain M_W = 80.483 +/- 0.084 GeV. The 8% improvement from the previous D0 measurement is primarily due to the improved determination of the response parameters for non-edge electrons using the sample of Z bosons with non-edge and edge electrons.Comment: submitted to Phys.
