    Inventario taxonómico de los ositos de agua (tardigrada) del sector medio de la ribera del río garupal, Cesar, Colombia

    En términos de diversidad biológica, Colombia es considerada un país mega-diverso; sin embargo, existen grupos de animales que no son tenidos en cuenta en los inventarios nacionales. Los tardígrados, que están dentro de estos grupos, son micro-metazoos hidrófilos con distribución cosmopolita en ambientes marinos, terrestres y dulceacuícolas. Una de sus características más remarcables, conocida como criptobiosis, es su capacidad para entrar en un estado de vida latente cuando las condiciones del entorno no son favorables. Diferentes ecosistemas colombianos reúnen las características necesarias para el desarrollo de briófitos y líquenes, que corresponden precisamente a los principales micro-habitas para los tardígrados; sin embargo, han sido pobremente estudiados en el país. Por lo tanto, el objetivo del presente estudio consistió en evaluar la composición taxonómica de los tardígrados asociados a briófitos y líquenes epífitos en la ribera del sector medio del río Garupal en el departamento del Cesar. Para ello se realizaron recolectas de material vegetal, para la búsqueda y separación de los tardígrados, y la posterior identificación de estos y de las muestras vegetales. Se encontraron 10 géneros de tardígrados: Calcarociotus, Diphascon, Doryphoribius, Echiniscus, Itaquascon, Macrobiotus, Milnesium, Minibiotus, Paramacrobiotus y Pseudechiniscus; de estos, se identificaron las espcies E. kofordi,Do. amazonicus, Do. cf. huangguoshuensis y Ps. Novaezeelandiae. Las dos primeras son por primera vez registradas para Colombia. El material biológico fue depositado en el Centro de Colecciones Biológicas de la Universidad del Magdalena

    A comparison of Clinical Risk Index for babies (CRIB-II), Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology (SNAP-II) and SNAPPE-II in predicting parenteral nutrition necessity in low birth weight preterm neonates.

    Advances in perinatal care have made it possible to improve survival of low birth weight neonates. Clinical risk index for babies (CRIB-II), score for neonatal acute physiology (SNAP-II), and SNAP-perinatal extension-II (SNAPPE-II) have been used as mortality predictors for preterm infants. Feeding intolerance is very frequent in preterm neonates, and the development of an early effective biomarker for its prediction could be useful for carrying out a proper feeding strategy. Our aim was to compare the ability of CRIB-II, SNAP-II and SNAPPE-II in predict the feeding intolerance and parenteral nutrition necessity in preterm neonates. Methods: A retrospective cohort study on preterm neonates’ born at Jaen Hospital Complex with low birth weight and ≤ 36 weeks of gestation was done. Epidemiological, clinical and clinical scores CRIB II, SNAP-II and SNAPPE-II were recorded. Results: 255 low birth weight preterm neonates, 131 males (51.4%), aged ≤32 weeks of gestation (71%), were enrolled at our hospital. Parenteral nutrition needed were significantly higher in preterm neonates weighed 2500-1500 g (73.3%) and ≤ 1000g (87%). CRIB-II, SNAP-II and SNAPPE-II mean values were higher in neonates group subjected to parenteral nutrition compared with oral nutrition (p<0.05). CRIB-II and SNAPPE-II scores significantly correlated with parenteral nutrition days (p<0.05). Overall mortality rate was 11%. The 78.6% of all deceased infants needed parenteral nutrition. Conclusion: Clinical Risk Index for babies (CRIB-II) better than SNAPPE-II correlated with the feeding intolerance and thus the parenteral nutrition days in preterm neonates with low birth weight.Subvencionado: Ayuda del Plan Propio de Investigación de la UMA. Its progressive nature requires a continuous and well-coordinated care approach. The follow-up for COPD should primarily focus on disease screening and control, which includes monitoring of pulmonary function, prevention of exacerbations, identification of aggravating factors and comorbidities, as well as ensuring treatment adequacy and adherence. However, existing clinical practice guidelines and consensus documents offer limited recommendations for the follow-up. In this context, we undertake a review of COPD treatment and the continuity of care recommendations endorsed by several scientific societies. Moreover, we underscore the importance of the involvement of nursing and community pharmacy in this process, as well as the utilization of quality indicators in the provision of care for the disease

O objetivo deste estudo é analisar a situação do mercado de trabalho no setor saúde à brasileiro luz dos conceitos da vulnerabilidade no contexto da globalização. Foi realizado um estudo sistemático a partir da produção técnico-científica nacional e internacional. Os conceitos de vulnerabilidade foram tomados como base teórica, pois consideram não somente questões pertinentes ao setor saúde como também sua relação com a estrutura e superestrutura social, passível de integrar-se no marco das condições de trabalho desse setor, que em termos das condições de trabalho podem elucidar a formulação de políticas mais humanas aos trabalhadores.In the globalization process, labor flexibilization and the population's vulnerability tend to increase. The purpose of this study is to analyze the situation of the work market in the Brazilian health sector under the light of vulnerability in the globalization context. A systematic study was carried out based on national and international technical and scientific production. The concepts of vulnerability were used as the theoretical base, as they consider not only issues that are pertinent to the health sector, but also to its relationship with the social structure and superstructure, which can integrate with each other in the framework of this sector's work conditions, which, in turn, can elucidate the formulation of policies that are more human for the workers

    Trabajo de grado para optar el título de especialista en Derechos Humanos y Derechos Internacional Humanitario De acuerdo al tema objeto de este proyecto se evidencia su viabilidad ya que es un tema de suma relevancia para la comunidad en general, las familias de los niños (as) con discapacidad visual y el personal docente que cotidianamente trabaja en la calidad de su educación. Se observa que la educación en esta clase de población cuenta con un marco jurídico amplio tanto a nivel internacional como nacional enfocado en la protección de sus derechos y en miras de una educación plenamente inclusiva, infortunadamente la realidad nos muestra que la problemática no se encuentra en la regulación normativa sino en la efectividad de éstas y la carencia de recursos para hacerlas efectivas. Nuestras autoridades locales, Alcaldía Municipal de Santa Marta, Gobernación del Magdalena, centros educativos y el Bienestar familiar comparten una política común de fomentar una educación integral e inclusiva para los niños y niñas con discapacidad visual, por lo tanto, en la ejecución de este proyecto se cuenta con el apoyo de estas entidades para lograr la consecución de los objetivos propuestos por el grupo para lograr fomentar una educación de calidad para los niños y niñas con discapacidad visual del plantel educativo Edgardo Vives Campo. Las repercusiones que a nivel sociocultural tendrá este proyecto en los sujetos participes de este proyecto tales como docentes, estudiantes con y sin discapacidad visual, padres de familias de niños con discapacidad visual, serán de gran beneficio, teniendo en cuenta que favorecerá el desarrollo integral del niño (a) con discapacidad visual dentro y fuera del plantel educativo asimismo los padres jugaran un papel activo en equipo con el cuerpo docente quienes recibirán también la capacitación y herramientas necesarias para lograr mitigar la vulneración de los derechos de estos niños y propender al mejoramiento de la calidad de la educación actual que reciben en el aula escolar

    Assessment of Multilocus Sequence Analysis (MLSA) for Identification of Candidatus Liberibacter Solanacearum from Different Host Plants in Spain

    [EN] Liberibacteris a bacterial group causing different diseases and disorders in plants. Among liberibacters,CandidatusLiberibacter solanaceraum (CLso) produces disorders in several species mainly within Apiaceae and Solanaceae families. CLso isolates are usually grouped in defined haplotypes according to single nucleotide polymorphisms in genes associated with ribosomal elements. In order to characterize more precisely isolates of CLso identified in potato in Spain, a Multilocus Sequence Analysis (MLSA) was applied. This methodology was validated by a complete analysis of ten housekeeping genes that showed an absence of positive selection and a nearly neutral mechanism for their evolution. Most of the analysis performed with single housekeeping genes, as well as MLSA, grouped together isolates of CLso detected in potato crops in Spain within the haplotype E, undistinguishable from those infecting carrots, parsnips or celery. Moreover, the information from these housekeeping genes was used to estimate the evolutionary divergence among the different CLso by using the concatenated sequences of the genes assayed. Data obtained on the divergence among CLso haplotypes support the hypothesis of evolutionary events connected with different hosts, in different geographic areas, and possibly associated with different vectors.     Association of Irisin Serum Concentration and Muscle Strength in Normal-Weight and Overweight Young Women

    Background: Irisin is a muscle-contraction-induced myokine. In previous studies, it has been related to exercise type, fitness and physical activity; however, evidence is not consistent. Thus, the aim of this study was to research the association between health-related fitness and irisin in young women. Methods: The study was designed as a prospective cross-sectional one. Young, healthy, nonsmoking women were enlisted. The sample comprised 40 overweight (OW) and 40 normal-weight (NW) individuals. The average age was 18.63 ± 0.63 and 18.78 ± 0.73 years, respectively. Components of health-related fitness, metabolic parameters, serum irisin and body composition were analyzed. Results: Statistically significant differences were found in physical tests between NW and OW groups for one-leg standing, hand grip strength, vertical jump, modified push-up, fitness index and maximal oxygen uptake (VO2MAX). There were no differences in concentrations of serum irisin between the groups. We found a positive correlation between irisin and hand grip strength (r = 0.374, p = 0.023). In a multivariate analysis adjusted by body fat, a significant association between irisin and hand grip strength was observed in OW group (β = 0.380, p = 0.026); as well, a positive association between irisin and one-leg standing test in NW group (β = 0.311, p = 0.044) was found. Conclusions: According to our findings, hand grip strength could be linked to irisin concentration in overweight young women

    The OTELO survey: A case study of [O III] lambda 4959,5007 emitters at z=0.83

    Context. The OSIRIS Tunable Filter Emission Line Object (OTELO) survey is a very deep, blind exploration of a selected region of the Extended Groth Strip and is designed for finding emission-line sources (ELSs). The survey design, observations, data reduction, astrometry, and photometry, as well as the correlation with ancillary data used to obtain a final catalogue, including photo-z estimates and a preliminary selection of ELS, were described in a previous contribution. Aims. Here, we aim to determine the main properties and luminosity function (LF) of the [O III] ELS sample of OTELO as a scientific demonstration of its capabilities, advantages, and complementarity with respect to other surveys. Methods. The selection and analysis procedures of ELS candidates obtained using tunable filter pseudo-spectra are described. We performed simulations in the parameter space of the survey to obtain emission-line detection probabilities. Relevant characteristics of [O III] emitters and the LF ([O III]), including the main selection biases and uncertainties, are presented. Results. From 541 preliminary emission-line source candidates selected around z = 0.8, a total of 184 sources were confirmed as [O III] emitters. Consistent with simulations, the minimum detectable line flux and equivalent width in this ELS sample are ∼5 × 10−19 erg s−1 cm2 and ∼6 Å, respectively. We are able to constrain the faint-end slope (α = −1.03 ± 0.08) of the observed LF ([O III]) at a mean redshift of z = 0.83. This LF reaches values that are approximately ten times lower than those from other surveys. The vast majority (84%) of the morphologically classified [O III] ELSs are disc-like sources, and 87% of this sample is comprised of galaxies with stellar masses of M⋆ <  1010 M⊙
