Four Loop Massless Propagators: an Algebraic Evaluation of All Master Integrals

The old "glue--and--cut" symmetry of massless propagators, first established in [1], leads --- after reduction to master integrals is performed --- to a host of non-trivial relations between the latter. The relations constrain the master integrals so tightly that they all can be analytically expressed in terms of only few, essentially trivial, watermelon-like integrals. As a consequence we arrive at explicit analytical results for all master integrals appearing in the process of reduction of massless propagators at three and four loops. The transcendental structure of the results suggests a clean explanation of the well-known mystery of the absence of even zetas (zeta_{2n}) in the Adler function and other similar functions essentially reducible to the massless propagators. Once a reduction of massless propagators at five loops is available, our approach should be also applicable for explicit performing the corresponding five-loop master integrals.Comment: 34 pages, few typos have been fixed, references and acknowledgements have been updated. Results for master integrals (together with some auxiliary information) are now available in http://www-ttp.physik.uni-karlsruhe.de/Progdata/ttp10/ttp10-18

Parity violating asymmetry in inclusive scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons by unpolarized protons with π0\pi^0 or π+\pi^+ meson production, is calculated as a function of the momentum transfer squared Q2Q^2 and the total energy WW of the πN\pi N-system. This asymmetry, which is induced by the interference of the one-photon exchange amplitude with the parity-odd part of the Z0Z^0-exchange amplitude, is calculated for the γ(Z)+pN+π\gamma^*(Z^*)+p\to N+\pi processes (γ\gamma^* is a virtual photon and ZZ^* a virtual Z-boson) considering the Δ\Delta-contribution in the ss-channel, the standard Born contributions and vector meson (ρ\rho and ω\omega) exchanges in the tt-channel. Taking into account the known isotopic properties of the hadron electromagnetic and neutral currents, we show that the P-odd term is the sum of two contributions. The main term is model independent and it can be calculated exactly in terms of fundamental constants. It is found to be linear in Q2Q^2. The second term is a relatively small correction which is determined by the isoscalar component of the electromagnetic current. Near threshold and in the Δ\Delta-region, this isoscalar part is much smaller (in absolute value) than the isovector one: its contribution to the asymmetry depend on the polarization state (longitudinal or transverse) of the virtual photon.Comment: 30 pages 9 figure

Risk profiles and one-year outcomes of patients with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation in India: Insights from the GARFIELD-AF Registry.

BACKGROUND: The Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD-Atrial Fibrillation (GARFIELD-AF) is an ongoing prospective noninterventional registry, which is providing important information on the baseline characteristics, treatment patterns, and 1-year outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). This report describes data from Indian patients recruited in this registry. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 52,014 patients with newly diagnosed AF were enrolled globally; of these, 1388 patients were recruited from 26 sites within India (2012-2016). In India, the mean age was 65.8 years at diagnosis of NVAF. Hypertension was the most prevalent risk factor for AF, present in 68.5% of patients from India and in 76.3% of patients globally (P < 0.001). Diabetes and coronary artery disease (CAD) were prevalent in 36.2% and 28.1% of patients as compared with global prevalence of 22.2% and 21.6%, respectively (P < 0.001 for both). Antiplatelet therapy was the most common antithrombotic treatment in India. With increasing stroke risk, however, patients were more likely to receive oral anticoagulant therapy [mainly vitamin K antagonist (VKA)], but average international normalized ratio (INR) was lower among Indian patients [median INR value 1.6 (interquartile range {IQR}: 1.3-2.3) versus 2.3 (IQR 1.8-2.8) (P < 0.001)]. Compared with other countries, patients from India had markedly higher rates of all-cause mortality [7.68 per 100 person-years (95% confidence interval 6.32-9.35) vs 4.34 (4.16-4.53), P < 0.0001], while rates of stroke/systemic embolism and major bleeding were lower after 1 year of follow-up. CONCLUSION: Compared to previously published registries from India, the GARFIELD-AF registry describes clinical profiles and outcomes in Indian patients with AF of a different etiology. The registry data show that compared to the rest of the world, Indian AF patients are younger in age and have more diabetes and CAD. Patients with a higher stroke risk are more likely to receive anticoagulation therapy with VKA but are underdosed compared with the global average in the GARFIELD-AF. Cryptococcosis in Gilbert's and long-nosed potoroo

Two cases of fatal cryptococcosis are described, one of Cryptococcus neoformans infection in a Gilbert's potoroo (Potorous gilbertii) and one of Cryptococcus gattii infection in a long-nosed potoroo (Potorous tridactylus). The diagnoses were confirmed by culture and specific immunohistochemistry, respectively. The long-nosed potoroo tested positive using the latex cryptococcal antigen test (LCAT), whereas the Gilbert's potoroo had a negative LCAT result despite having advanced disease of some duration. In both cases, the clinical presentation was a progressive neurologic disease associated with a central nervous system infection. Pulmonary infection was also observed in the long-nosed potoroo. Specific treatment with antifungal agents was unsuccessful in the long-nosed potoroo

A splendid tree frog with edema syndrome and intestinal adenocarcinoma

    No full text
A splendid tree frog (Pelodryas splendida) presented with subcutaneous edema extending along its dorsum from head to vent, which resolved with improvement of ambient temperature and humidity conditions in its enclosure. Four months later, this same frog presented in a moribund state with intracoelomic fluid accumulation. An intestinal adenocarcinoma, a rarely reported neoplasm in amphibians, was diagnosed post mortem. Neoplasia is one of a number of causes of edema syndrome, which is a nonspecific response to disease and debility in anurans

An outbreak of mycobacteriosis in Gouldian finches caused by Mycobacterium peregrinum

    No full text
An outbreak of mycobacteriosis was detected in an aviary containing Gouldian finches (Erythrura gouldiae) and golden shouldered parrots (Psephotus chrysopterygius). Affected birds developed granulomatous lesions, usually of the liver and intestine. Mycobacterium peregrinum, a species of the Mycobacterium fortuitum group, was cultured on pooled samples of intestinal tract from 31 euthanized finches. These rapid-growing mycobacteria are saprophytic organisms that are generally not associated with clinical disease in immunocomponenet hosts. This is the first report of mycobacteriosis in finches implicating M peregrinum as a causative agent

The photo-absorption cross section of trifluoromethyl sulphur pentafluoride, SF5CF3 has been measured using synchrotron radiation in the range of 4–11 eV (310 nm > λ > 110 nm) and comparison made with electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). The measured VUV cross sections are used to derive the photolysis rate of SF5CF3 in the terrestrial atmosphere. It is estimated that the lifetime for this molecule is the order of a 1000 years and the calculated global warming potential (GWP) is found to be between 17000 and 18100, making it one of the most potent global warming gases in the terrestrial atmosphere
