The Paintings in the Cathedral. At the end of the 15th century, Rodrigo de Borja, Cardenal of Rome and Bishop of Valencia, brought two Italian artists in his entourage, namely Francisco Pagano and Paolo da San Leocadio. He proposed they should decorate the main chapel “Capilla Mayor” of Valencia Cathedral and they painted the best Renaissance Artwork known in Spain. In the 17th century, however, the Archbishop Luis Alonso de los Cameros had the chapelredecorated and the paintings were covered up. In 2004, when the chapel was being restored, the frescos were found to be in quite an acceptable state below the baroque vaulted ceiling. Nowadays, after dismantling the baroque ceiling and carrying out careful restoration, one can see these frescos in all their glory in Valencia Cathedral

The results obtained after evaluating the psychological functioning of 150 participants with severe and prolonged mental illness are presented. So we've used the Battery Luria-DNA and Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. Specifically, we aim to: (1) provide data on the concurrent validity of the Luria - DNA battery through the study of correlations between this battery and WAIS scale. (2) Analyze the impact of clinical variables in the psychological performance of these patients; (3) obtain a profile of neuropsychological performance. The results support the reliability and validity of the battery and its usefulness in the neuropsychological examination of patients with schizophrenia. The results obtained provide suggestions to improve the provision of support.peerReviewe

The relationship between knowledge management and innovation level in Mexican SMEs: Empirical evidence

    Get PDF
The transformation of the current society from an industry-based economy to a knowledge management and innovation-based economy is changing the design and implementation of business strategies and the nature of the competition among the organizations which are mainly small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). They struggle to survive in a market which is more demanding and competitive, so they seeknowledge management as one of the most effective strategies that may help to enable the innovation activities into the businesses. For these reasons, this research paper has as a main goal to analyze the relationship between knowledge management and innovation in Mexican SMEs. The empirical analysis used 125 manufacturing SMEs (each SME having from 20 to 250 employees) as a sample to be carried out. The obtained results indicate that knowledge management has a positive impact in products, process, and management systems innovation

A Pattern Based Approach for Re-engineering Non-Ontological Resources into Ontologies

    Get PDF
With the goal of speeding up the ontology development process, ontology engineers are starting to reuse as much as possible available ontologies and non-ontological resources such as classification schemes, thesauri, lexicons and folksonomies, that already have some degree of consensus. The reuse of such non-ontological resources necessarily involves their re-engineering into ontologies. Non-ontological resources are highly heterogeneous in their data model and contents: they encode different types of knowledge, and they can be modeled and implemented in different ways. In this paper we present (1) a typology for non-ontological resources, (2) a pattern based approach for re-engineering non-ontological resources into ontologies, and (3) a use case of the proposed approach

Peer Victimization in Overweight Adolescents and Its Effect on Their Self-Esteem and Peer Difficulties

This study has three objectives: to examine whether adolescents who perceive themselves as overweight differ from others in terms of offline victimization at school, cybervictimization, self-esteem, and difficulties relating to peers; to examine the possible effects of offline and cybervictimization on self-esteem and difficulties relating to peers; and to examine the possible moderating role of perceiving oneself as overweight on those effects. Previously validated questionnaires were applied to a sample of 3145 adolescents in Asturias (Spain). Descriptive, inferential, correlational, and structural equation analyses were performed. Adolescents who perceived themselves as overweight reported being victims of both offline victimization and most forms of cybervictimization to a greater extent than those who did not perceive themselves as overweight. They also reported lower self-esteem and more peer difficulties (shyness or social anxiety). In both groups of adolescents, victimization and cybervictimization were correlated with each other, both types of victimization had direct, negative effects on self-esteem, and self-esteem in turn had a direct, negative effect on peer difficulties. Furthermore, offline victimization had a direct, positive effect on peer difficulties. Perceiving oneself as overweight moderated the effect of self-esteem on peer difficulties. In adolescents perceiving themselves as overweight, low self-esteem was a stronger risk factor of peer difficulties than in the rest of the adolescents. With high overall self-esteem there were no significant differences in peer difficulties between the adolescents perceiving themselves as overweight and the rest of the adolescents
