Magnetostratigraphy of the Miocene continental deposits of the Montes de Castejón (central Ebro basin, Spain): geochronological and paleoenvironmental implications

    Get PDF
A detailed magnetostratigraphic study has been carried out in the early to middle Miocene distal alluvial and lacustrine sediments of the Montes de Castejón (central Ebro Basin). The study was based on the analysis of 196 magnetostratigraphic sites sampled along a stratigraphic interval of about 240 meters. Local magnetostratigraphy yielded a sequence of 12 magnetozones (6 normal and 6 reverse) which could be correlated with the Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale (GPTS) interval C5Cr to C5AD (between 17 and 14.3 Ma.). The sampled sedimentary sequences include the boundary between two tectosedimentary units (TSU, T5 and T6) already defined in the Ebro Basin. The magnetostratigraphy of the Montes de Castejón allows to date the T5/T6 TSU boundary at 16.14 Ma, within chron C5Cn.1n. This magnetostratigraphy also allows us to analyse in detail as well as to discuss the variations in sedimentation rates through space and time between different lacustrine environments: Outer carbonate lacustrine fringes and distal alluvial plains (Montes de Castejón sections) show higher sedimentation rates than offshore lacustrine areas (San Caprasio section, 50 km east of Montes de Castejón)

On the Krein–Milman Property and the Bade Property

AbstractThroughout this paper a study on the Krein–Milmam Property and the Bade Property is entailed reaching the following conclusions: If a real topological vector space satisfies the Krein–Milmam Property, then it is Hausdorff; if a real topological vector space satisfies the Krein–Milmam Property and is locally convex and metrizable, then all of its closed infinite dimensional vector subspaces have uncountable dimension; if a real pseudo-normed space has the Bade Property, then it is Hausdorff as well but could allow closed infinite dimensional vector subspaces with countable dimension. On other hand, we show the existence of infinite dimensional closed subspaces of ℓ∞ with the Bade Property that are not the space of convergence associated to any series in a real topological vector space. Finally, we characterize unconditionally convergent series in real Banach spaces by means of a new concept called uniform convergence of series

Las nuevas redes sociales, ¿moda o revolución?

    Get PDF

Digital strategies for innovation in media markets in crisis

    Get PDF
This theoretical narrative paper looks at best international practices, case studies and recent literature in media management, with the goal of improving company performance in the Spanish market, and could be useful to understand the impact and meaning of the digital transition in a global context. It tries to answer questions as the following: Are there ways to innovate in unstable conditions? Are digital scenarios going to kill traditional media? Are they opportunities or threats? What are the quality indicators that are sustainable along time? Can “old” media learn from digital players or social media? We look to relevant cases to draw some lessons and “takeaways” for managers in Spanish media and entertainment companies

In the media we have always faced lights and shadows; problems and opportunities. Somehow the world is in our hands; we are only one-click away from updated and interesting content; we can really have a global audience. At the same time, being so close to news, entertainment and games is a source of distractions and is pushing the audience towards instant gratification, close to addiction and other problems

Activated carbons as catalytic support for Cu nanoparticles

    Get PDF
There are a wide range of catalytic applications for Cu-based nanoparticles materials, since Cu is an abundant and inexpensive metal and Cu nanoparticles possess unusual electrical, thermal and optical properties. The possible modification of the chemical and physical properties of these nanoparticles using different synthetic strategies and conditions and/or via postsynthetic chemical treatments has been largely responsible for the rapid growth of interest in these nanomaterials and their applications in catalysis. A previous work have explored the possibilities of SBA-15 (1,2) as support for Cu nanoparticles. In the present contribution, those results will be compared with the use of a carbon material as support, since activated carbon present many advantages with respect SBA, as the high surface area.Universidad de Málaga. Zwitterionic Rhodium and Iridium Complexes Based on a Carboxylate Bridge-Functionalized Bis-N-heterocyclic Carbene Ligand: Synthesis, Structure, Dynamic Behavior, and Reactivity

    Get PDF
A series of water-soluble zwitterionic complexes featuring a carboxylate bridge-functionalized bis-N-heterocyclic carbene ligand of formula [Cp MIIICl{(MeIm)2CHCOO}] and [MI(diene){(MeIm)2CHCOO}] (Cp* = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl; M = Rh, Ir; MeIm = 3-methylimidazol-2-yliden-1-yl; diene = 1, 5-cyclooctadiene (cod), norbornadiene (nbd)) were prepared from the salt [(MeImH)2CHCOO]Br and suitable metal precursor. The solid-state structure of both types of complexes shows a boat-shaped six-membered metallacycle derived of the ¿2C, C' coordination mode of the bis-NHC ligand. The uncoordinated carboxylate fragment is found at the bowsprit position in the Cp MIII complexes, whereas in the MI(diene) complexes it is at the flagpole position of the metallacycle. The complexes [RhI(diene){(MeIm)2CHCOO}] (diene = cod, nbd) exist as two conformational isomers in dichloromethane, bowsprit and flagpole, that interconvert through the boat-to-boat inversion of the metallacycle. An inversion barrier of ~17 kcal·mol-1 was determined by two-dimensional exchange spectroscopy NMR measurements for [RhI(cod){(MeIm)2CHCOO}]. Reaction of zwitterionic Cp MIII complexes with methyl triflate or tetrafluoroboric acid affords the cationic complexes [Cp MIIICl{(MeIm)2CHCOOMe}]+ or [Cp MIIICl{(MeIm)2CHCOOH}]+ (M = Rh, Ir) featuring carboxy and methoxycarbonyl functionalized methylene-bridged bis-NHC ligands, respectively. Similarly, complexes [MI(diene){(MeIm)2CHCOOMe}]+ (M = Rh, Ir) were prepared by alkylation of the corresponding zwitterionic MI(diene) complexes with methyl triflate. In contrast, reaction of [IrI(cod){(MeIm)2CHCOO}] with HBF4·Et2O (Et = ethyl), CH3OTf, CH3I, or I2 gives cationic iridium(III) octahedral complexes [IrIIIX(cod){(MeIm)2CHCOO}]+ (X = H, Me, or I) featuring a tripodal coordination mode of the carboxylate bridge-functionalized bis-NHC ligand. The switch from ¿2C, C' to ¿3C, C', O coordination of the bis-NHC ligand accompanying the oxidative addition prevents the coordination of the anions eventually formed in the process that remain as counterions
