Fuzzy Logic based Edge Detection Method for Image Processing

    Get PDF
Edge detection is the first step in image recognition systems in a digital image processing. An effective way to resolve many information from an image such depth, curves and its surface is by analyzing its edges, because that can elucidate these characteristic when color, texture, shade or light changes slightly. Thiscan lead to misconception image or vision as it based on faulty method. This work presentsa new fuzzy logic method with an implemention. The objective of this method is to improve the edge detection task. The results are comparable to similar techniques in particular for medical images because it does not take the uncertain part into its account

Human Rights are basic rights bestowed by God on human beings, are universal to be protected, respected, maintained, and should not be ignored, reduced or taken away by anyone. It is therefore the responsibility of the State as well as collateral for enforcement against violations of human rights principles. The UN as an International organization in its charter has been put respect and appreciation for human rights into the Charter that dsebut The Universal Declaration of Human Rights were adopted unanimously by the General Assembly of the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. Human rights violations in North Korea should have been the responsibility of the State concerned, and also it is a shared responsibility of the International community. North Korea as one of the countries with the worst human rights records. North Koreans have been referred to as the "most brutalized people in the world", due to the severe restrictions placed on the top of their political and economic freedoms. The North Korean government has committed human rights violations in the form of crimes against humanity against the civilian population, so in this case the UN acts as a protective shield against the civilian population, so that the perpetrators can not act arbitrarily in treating civilian population

The role of quality factors on learning management systems adoption from instructors' perspectives

    Get PDF
Learning management systems have been largely used in universities for teaching, student learning, curriculum, and staff development. However, just providing higher education institutions with a learning management system does not guarantee a success. Quality assurance of these systems has become a central concern for practitioners, researchers, and system providers. In this context, this empirical research investigates quality factors that can contribute to learning management system adoption. In addition, the study developed a research model based on TAM and information systems success model by integrating associated quality indicators inclusive of system quality, service quality, information quality, and instructor quality. Quantitative data using questionnaire gathered from 365 lecturers in Palestine universities were inspected to evaluate the influence of various constructs on lecturers’ adoption of learning management systems using structural equation modeling analysis technique. The research findings show that information quality, system quality, service quality, and instructors’ quality can contribute to e-learning management system adoption with regards to their beliefs. This Research contributes positively to the limited literature on assessing the quality predictors of learning management system adoption

Molecular analysis, particularly sub-genotype classification, and study on the relationship of recent Malaysian NDVs with other isolates from around the world are lacking. Therefore, in the present study, a molecular epidemiological investigation was conducted to characterise six Newcastle disease viruses (NDV) isolated between 2014 and 2015 from vaccinated commercial poultry flocks. Partial Fusion (F) and Hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) genes were amplified from IBS046/2014, IBS060/2014, IBS061/2014, IBS074/2014, IBS160/2015, and IBS162A/2015 isolates using one-step reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), sequenced and phylogenetically analysed. Sequence and phylogenetic analysis revealed that all the recently isolated strains of NDV belonged to sub-genotype VIIa and lineage 5a. Moreover, deduced amino acid sequence at the F protein cleavage site of the isolates revealed either 112RRQKRF117 or 112KRRKRF117 consistent with the motif found in velogenic pathotypes. The study concluded that the genotype VIIa was the causative agent of recent ND outbreaks in vaccinated broiler flocks from Malaysia. Interestingly, five out of the six isolates characterised in this study had a unique F0 protein cleavage site (112KRRKRF117). Further studies are required to determine the role of these motifs on the virulent potential of the isolates

Reduced-Reference Video Quality Metric Using Spatial Information in Salient Regions

    Get PDF
In multimedia transmission, it is important to rely on an objective quality metric which accurately represents the subjective quality of processed images and video sequences. Maintaining acceptable Quality of Experience in video transmission requires the ability to measure the quality of the video seen at the receiver end. Reduced-reference metrics make use of side-information that is transmitted to the receiver for estimating the quality of the received sequence with low complexity. This attribute enables real-time assessment and visual degradation detection caused by transmission and compression errors. A novel reduced-reference video quality known as the Spatial Information in Salient Regions Reduced Reference Metric is proposed. The approach proposed makes use of spatial activity to estimate the received sequence distortion after concealment. The statistical elements analysed in this work are based on extracted edges and their luminance distributions. Results highlight that the proposed edge dissimilarity measure has a good correlation with DMOS scores from the LIVE Video Database

Late Diagnosis of 5-α-Reductase Type 2 Deficiency in an Adolescent Girl with Primary Amenorrhoea : Case report

    Get PDF
Deficiency of the 5-α-reductase enzyme has been found to affect male sexual development. We report an 18-year-old patient who was referred to an endocrinology clinic in Jizan, Saudi Arabia, in April 2014 with primary amenorrhoea, virilisation and a lack of secondary sex characteristics. As female external genitalia were present at birth, she had been raised as a female. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed no uterine or ovarian tissue in the pelvis and the presence of a scrotal sac. She was diagnosed with 5-α-reductase type 2 deficiency, a 46,XY disorder of sexual development. Typically, affected males have pseudovaginal perineoscrotal hypospadias and ambiguous genitalia at birth. Individuals who have been raised as female manifest characteristics of virilisation at puberty, including deepening of the vocal tone, phallus enlargement, scrotal hyperpigmentation and increased muscle mass
