THE PHONOLOGICAL PROCESS OF THE SUFFIX /-i/ IN THE JAVANESE LANGUAGE: A GENERATIVE PHONOLOGY APPROACH

This research explains the Javanese sound distribution, the sound change that is caused by the suffix /-i/, and the phonological process of the base word that is attached by the suffix /-i/. The data used in this study are from the utterances of Javanese native college students from Semarang, Kendal, and Solo. The result shows that the distribution is divided into two based on the position. Besides, in Javanese, the suffix /-i/ has the functions, which are (1) to change the part of speech, (2) to show the passive verb, (3) to show the repetitive action. Perkembangan Kota Solo berjalan dengan dinamis dalam tiap tahunnya, Perkembangan tersebut tidak lepas dari adanya jiwa seni dan budaya dari masyarakatnya yang sangat dilestarikan. Berbagai Kesenian yang ada di Solo membuat Kota Solo lebih Hidup dan di kenal di kancah domestic maupun Internasional. Semua lahir dari adanya jiwa seni yang ada pada masyarakat Solo. Namun karena skala pertunjukan kesenian di Solo yang sudah melebihi dari gedung yang sudah ada sehingga dibutuhkan bangunan yang dapat menampung kapasitas besar tersebut dan pada perancangan ini di maksudkan untuk mewadahi pertunjukan kesenian yang sudah berskala besar dan internasional. Permainan Treasure Hunt sebagai Sebuah Strategi Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab

Pembelajaran akan terasa sangat menjenuhkan jika di dalamnya tidak disertai dengan adanya pemakaian media-media pembelajaran oleh seorang guru. Dengan adanya media pembelajaran kegiatan pembelajaran akan berlangsung dengan sangat menyenangkan. Selain itu, dengan adanya media dalam kegiatan pembelajaran, materi ajar yang disampaikan oleh guru pun akan lebih mudah diterima dengan maksimal oleh peserta didik. Kaitannya dengan pembelajaran bahasa Arab, ia adalah salah satu mata pelajaran yang menjadi momok “menakutkan†bagi sebagian peserta didi. Oleh karenanya diperlukan adanya media-media yang mungkin berupa permainan untuk menciptakan pembelajaran bahasa Arab yang enjoy dan menyenangkan. Salah satunya adalah permainan “Treasure Hunt†ini, ia dihadirkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab agar proses pembelajarannya terasa enjoy dan menyenangkan tanpa adanya tekanan bagi peserta didik. “Treasure Hunt†ini adalah sebuah permainan berburu mencari harta karun yang kemudian diadopsi ke dalam pembejaran bahasa Arab. Upaya Peningkatan Kemampuan Kognitif melalui Pembelajaran Learning Tournament Materi Pokok Kalor dan Perpindahannya Siswa Kelas VII-H SMP Negeri 1 Magetan Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015

Rendahnya kemampuan kognitif siswa pada pembelajaran IPA di SMP Negeri 1 Magetan dikarenakan siswa belum terbiasa aktif dalam proses pembelajaran merupakan latar belakang dari penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa dengan pembelajaran Learning Tournament siswa kelas VII-H SMP Negeri 1 Magetan Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015 pada materi pokok Kalor dan Perpindahannya. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus yang setiap siklusnya terdiri dari tahap persiapan dilanjutkan tahap pelaksanaan yang terdiri dari perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan evaluasi, serta refleksi. Siswa kelas VII-H SMP Negeri 1 Magetan tahun ajaran 2014/2015 sebanyak 28 siswa terdiri dari 10 siswa laki-laki dan 18 siswa perempuan merupakan subyek penelitian dan dikhususkan pada materi pokok Kalor dan Perpindahannya yang dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Data diperoleh melalui teknik observasi awal untuk mengetahui keadaan awal siswa dan permasalahan di dalam kelas serta teknik tes untuk mengetahui kemampuan kognitif siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan penguatan berupa uji t 1 ekor dan regresi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: pembelajaran Learning Tournament dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada materi pokok Kalor dan Perindahannya. Hal tersebut diketahui melalui peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa dari tes kemampuan awal sebesar 46,43% menjadi 67,86% setelah diberi perlakuan siklus I, menjadi 85,71% setelah diberi perlakuan siklus II. Untuk hasil tes formatif (posttest) persentase tercapainya ketuntasan yaitu 85,71%. Dari hasil uji t 1 ekor didapatkan thitung>ttabel yaitu 7,40>1,67356, disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan kognitif siswa setelah pembelajaran lebih baik daripada sebelum pembelajaran dengan penerapan Learning Tournament. Dari hasil regresi didapatkan rata-rata kemampuan kognitif siswa sebesar 5,083 mendapatkan sumbangan peningkatan sebesar 0,005 dari pembelajaran siklus I (X1) dan 0,936 dari pembelajaran siklus II (X2). Dari perhitungan diperoleh harga Fhitung>Ftabel pada taraf signifikansi 5% yaitu 495,209>3,34, disimpulkan bahwa hubungan regresi linier antara pembelajaran siklus I, pembelajaran siklus II, dan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada posttest berarti. Sumbangan relatif pembelajaran terhadap kemampuan kognitif akhir, pembelajaran siklus I (X1) sebesar 0,63%, dan pembelajaran siklus II (X2) sebesar 99,37%. Sumbangan efektif pembelajaran terhadap kemampuan kognitif akhir, pembelajaran siklus I (X1) sebesar 0,62%, dan pembelajaran siklus II (X2) sebesar 96,92%. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING DIRECTED READING ACTIVITY TO INCREASE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ABILITY AT THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 1 LOSARI BREBES

This study was designed to increase the students’ vocabulary mastery by using DRA Technique with the aims (1) to find out the students achievement before using Directed Reading Activity in vocabulary ability, (2) to find out the students achievement after using Directed reading Activity in vocabulary ability, (3) to find out there is a positive and effectiveness of using of Directed Reading Activity to increase vocabulary ability at the second year students of SMA Negeri 1 Losari. Vocabulary is the basic that must be learnt first by learners in study language. As stated by Tarigan (1986:p.2) state that the quality of language skill depends on the quantity and quality of vocabulary, there are many problem to increase vocabulary and the solution is using Directed Reading Activity Supardi (2010) in his thesis states that apply DRA Technique because this technique is not only very beneficial to increase the students’ vocabulary mastery but also to raise the students’ motivation in memorizing and increasing new vocabulary. So DRA technique can increase and give motivation student to memorizing the new vocabulary. This research method is quantitative, that used pre-experimental design; the population of this research are all the students in second year grade of SMA Negeri 1 Losari, the sample of the research are students in XI IPS 1 that consist of 29 students. The techniques of collecting data are observation and test. The result findings shows that the achievement of students’ before and after using Directed Reading Activity method to increase vocabulary ability has increase after using the method, it since the mean of pretest is 42.75 and posttest is 60.51 so, it mean the students has good achievement after using directed reading activity in process and learning and the Directed Reading Activity Method is positive and effctiveness to students’ vocabulary ability with the result of T-test it shows t is 9.686 and t table is 2.048, it means t count > t table it mean that the effectiveness of Directed Reading Activity is positive and effectiveness on students’ vocabulary ability, and then the value of DC is 36.2404 (0.362 it shows in Software SPSS) it sign 36.2% and the rest 63.8% is effectiveness by other factors that uncounted in this research perhaps, students’ absence, teacher’s factor, students’ learning style, condition of class etc. from calculation by d’cohen formula got 1.7, it mean the effect of the application of the method gives large effect to students’ reading skill. Program 5R adalah suatu program dengan cara menerapkan lima langkah penataan dan pemeliharaan tampat kerja yang dikembangkan melalui upaya intensif dan mempunyai tujuan untuk menciptakan tempat kerja aman, nyaman, meningkatkan produktivitas pekerja, dan mencegah kecelakaan kerja. 5R merupakan ilmu perilaku karena 5R yang penting adalah praktiknya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan praktik program 5R di PT. Antam (Persero) Tbk, UBPP. Logam Mulia Jakarta Timur. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian penjelasan (explanatory research) dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Subjek penelitian ini adalah Prime Mover, CL Coordinator, dan PIC di PT. Antam (Persero) Tbk, UBPP. Logam Mulia Jakarta Timur. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu 27 orang dengan menggunakan metode total populasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan (p-value=1,00) dan sikap (p-value=1,00) dengan praktik program 5R serta ada hubungan antara keikutsertaan peningkatan keterampilan (p-ivalue=0,036) dan pengawasan (p-value=0,014) dengan praktik program 5R. Berdasarkan hasil observasi diketahui sebanyak 85,2% responden mempunyai praktik program 5R tidak baik dan 14,8% responden mempunyai praktik program 5R baik Kata Kunci: Praktik program 5R, 5R di tempat kerj

INTERPRETATION OF TRI (3) PROVIDER “BEBAS ITU NYATA ALWAYS ON†SLOGAN BY T HE USERS IN ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OF FACULTY OF CULTURAL STUDIES AT UNIVERSITAS BRAWIJAYA

Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis, Slogan, Tri (3) Provider This research is about the analysis of critical discourse analysis in slogan“Bebas itu nyata always on†used by Tri provider by using Fairclough model ofCDA. There are three objectives in to achieve this research, first is to find out thelexical and structural meanings of Tri provider slogan of “Bebas itu nyata alwaysonâ€, the second one is to identify the users’ interpretation of Tri provider inEnglish Department at Universitas Brawijaya toward the slogan of “Bebas itunyata always onâ€, and the last one is identify the impact of Tri slogan “Bebas itunyata always on†toward the users in English Department at UniversitasBrawijaya.This study used a qualitative approach to analyze two data. The first datumis the slogan text “Bebas Itu Nyata Always On†used in Tri (3) provider. Thesecond one is the opinion about the product produced by the students of Englishdepartment at Universitas Brawijaya. There are two data collections, namely preresearch and whilst research. In addition the researcher also needs othersinstruments such as questionnaire and interview guide to conduct the research. In data analysis, the researcher uses two processes such as analyzing the sentence of the slogan text and analyzing the result of interviewed.The result of this research revealed that semantically the slogan has good lexical choice since it emphasizes the words Bebas, Nyata, and always on to persuade the audiences.Furthermore, sintagmaticlly the slogan consists of twosentences, the first sentence is Bebas yang diberikan Tri itu nyata and the second one is we are always on. At the level of interpretation, there are similarities between the research participants and the researcher in interpreting the slogan. Besides, slogan has less power to influence the users or researcher participants in buying a certain product.In conclusion, the power of language in advertisement is very importantsince it has the function to persuade people in buying a certain product, in fact in this research the researcher found that language has less power in influencingpeople to choose a certain product, people choose a certain product since theproduct has good quality of services. For further research, the researchersuggested for the next researcher to apply more theories in CDA such as analyzing the coherence or cohesive in the text analysis so that it will be helpful for the readers to understand more about the theory of CDA

Transactional and Interpersonal Conversation Texts in English Textbook

In this study, The researcher analyzed the transactional andinterpersonal conversation texts found in grade VIII English textbookentitled ―EOS English on Sky 2‖ and I also analyzed the linguisticfeatures of the transactional and interpersonal conversations in theEnglish textbook. This study focuses on the issues of structuralfunctionalapproach which analyzes the speech function, structuralapproach which analyzes linguistic features. This is a qualitative study.In calculating the data and the final result of data percentage,quantification was used to support this study. Units of analysis in thisstudy are moves and clauses. The conversation texts are presented in 8units. The moves were analyzed functionally and the clauses wereanalyzed structurally. The result shows that the speech functions of thetransactional conversation texts are 54.5% matching the standard ofcontent, the speech functions of the interpersonal conversation texts are2.1% matching the standard of content. The linguistic feature applied inthe transactional and interpersonal conversation texts uses the linguisticfeature in functional literacy level. The speech functions of conversationtexts introduced in EOS English on Sky 2 for junior high school grade VIII are less compatible with the standard of content based on thecompatibility levels. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti akan menganalisis teks percakapantransaksional dan teks percakapan interpersonal yang ada di dalam bukubahasa Inggris kelas VIII yang berjudul ―EOS English on Sky 2‖ danjuga menganalisis fitur linguistik (linguistic feature) dari percakapantransaksional maupun interpersonal dalam buku tersebut. Penelitian inifokus pada pendekatan fungsional dan struktural yang menganalisisfungsi bicara (speech function) dan linguistic feature. Ini merupakanpenelitian kualitatif. Untuk membantu dalam menghitung data dan hasilakhir prosentase data, maka digunakan kuantifikasi. Unit analisispenelitian ini adalah move dan clause. Teks percakapan dipersembahkandalam unit 8. Move dianalisis secara fungsional dan clause dianalisissecara struktural. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa speech function dari tekspercakapan transaksional adalah 54,5% yang sesuai dengan standar isi,speech function dari teks percakapan interpersonal adalah 2,1% yangsesuai dengan standar isi. Linguistic feature yang diterapkan dalam tekspercakapan transaksional maupun transaksional menggunakan linguisticfeature pada tingkat literasi fungsional. Berdasarkan tingkatkompatibilitas, speech function dari teks percakapan yang ada dalambuku ―EOS English on Sky 2 for junior high school grade VIII‖ kurangsesuai dengan standar isi
