La responsabilitat social universitària: perspectives des de la psicologia

En aquest article es presenta una introducció al marc de treball sobre la temàtica de la responsabilitat social a la Universitat, els principis d’acció que fonamenten el concepte, i el paper que tenen les universitats en la seua missió de formació e investigació envers la societat. El treball d’aquest article és fruit del programa de doctorat de la Universitat de València «Desenvolupament personal i participació social», tal com indica el títol, el desenvolupament de les nostres capacitats i responsabilitats com éssers humans i el treball en comú, permetran aconseguir que des de les estructures en què ens organitzem, procurem una societat global més igualitària i sostenible per a les persones que l’habitem i les pròximes generacions. Mitjançant una recerca de literatura des de la psicologia bàsica en valors i empatia, es proposa una fonamentació de la responsabilitat social com a capacitat d’actuar pel bé comú amb arrels, amb emoció i cognició que hauria de ser part del procés universitari en formació i investigació. S’hi presenten algunes conclusions fruit de la tesi doctoral empresa per l’autor que assenyalen una escassa in- fluència en universitats iberoamericanes per promoure la responsabilitat social en estudiants, atès que no s’aprecien canvis entre alumnes de primer a últim any, ni un compromís prenent com a base valors de compromís social, sinó més prompte orientat al respecte a la norma

Estudio de variables de responsabilidad social universitaria

El estudio de la Responsabilidad Social Universitaria (RSU) implica la investigación sobre las variables psicológicas que intervienen en la adquisición y desarrollo de comportamientos socialmente responsables por parte del alumnado, como finalidad de la educación superior de formar a personas responsables, procurando que la educación cívica en la juventud universitaria tenga un impacto en las futuras generaciones de profesionales. Este estudio ha identificado como variables psicológicas en las cuales tener presente el impacto de la formación universitaria, los valores humanos, según adquieran orientación a la auto-promoción o a la auto-trascendencia, y el efecto de la empatía como mediadora de la capacidad de auto-regular emociones y cogniciones sobre la relación entre uno mismo y la sociedad. Se considera que la educación universitaria, para ser socialmente responsable, debe tener un papel importante en proporcionar al alumnado orientaciones de valor, y herramientas psicológicas clave para llevar a cabo comportamientos responsables en su desarrollo personal y profesional. El ámbito de estudio se realiza en 3 países, España, Perú y Colombia, dado que se considera necesario validar metodologías que puedan ser aplicadas en diferentes países y modelos universitarios; más aun, teniendo presentes las políticas existentes para la creación de un Espacio Iberoamericano de Conocimiento, que sea socialmente responsable. La metodología innovadora para desarrollar esta investigación parte del uso de una plataforma virtual, facilitando la administración de cuestionarios a alumnado de diferentes universidades. Una década de Responsabilidad social universitaria en Iberoamérica

Los procesos por los cuales instituciones de educación superior en Latinoamérica y España están formulando marcos conceptuales y metodologías de responsabilidad social universitaria (RSU), transcurren en la primera década del siglo XXI en convergencia con las tendencias de encuentro entre sector privado, social y público, en los cuales la universidad tiene un papel relevante al formar a la mayoría de personas que trabajan y ocupan cargos de responsabilidad en la gestión de la sociedad. En este artículo se realiza una aproximación a algunas iniciativas de universidades iberoamericanas que han emprendido pasos para analizar su responsabilidad social, desarrollando medidas que permitan conocer su actuar y se concluye con reflexiones acerca de desarrollos que desde la educación superior podrían plantearse. Responsabilidad social en la educación básica y superior: Una perspectiva desde el espacio iberoamericano.

Resumen El artículo presenta una revisión acerca de la educación básica y superior en materia de responsabilidad social en los países iberoamericanos, con el fin de obtener una aproximación al estado del arte. Teniendo en cuenta este objetivo se realiza un breve estudio exploratorio sobre los documentos de política de educación de organismos multilaterales como la UNESCO y la Organización de los países iberoamericanos. El documento destaca que después de los discursos, la educación debe aterrizar las habilidades, entre otras, las relacionadas con ejercer una ciudadanía responsable, y se ofrece una fundamentación desde la psicología. En el documento se hace referencia a algunas experiencias en las que la enseñanza y la evaluación de la educación ciudadana son compatibles. En la conclusión, se argumenta la conveniencia de establecer una política de evaluación internacional de la educación en valores de responsabilidad social para el ejercicio de la ciudadanía durante todo el proceso formativo. Abstract Abstract. The paper offers a review about basic and higher education on social responsibility in Ibero-American countries, in order to get an approach to the state of the art. Considering this objective is done a brief exploratory study over education policy documents from multilateral agencies such as UNESCO and the Organization of Ibero-American countries. The paper highlights that after the discourses, education must land skills, between others, those related to exercise responsible citizenship, and its presented a psychological fundamentation. The paper refers and discusses some experiences in education and evaluation of citizenship education is supported. In the conclusion is argued the suitability of establishing a policy of international assessment of education in values of social responsibility for the exercise of citizenship all over the education process

A multi-study examination of the relevance of the metacognitive beliefs about uncontrollability in emotion regulation and clinical symptoms

Transdiagnostic approaches to psychopathology have postulated that factors related to perceived control are particularly relevant to mental health. Here we focused on a specific perceived control-related construct: metacognitive beliefs about uncontrollability. Evidence suggests that dysfunctional metacognitive beliefs play a role in the activation and maintenance of maladaptive emotion regulation strategies and emotional distress. Metacognitive beliefs about the uncontrollability and danger of worry are the most strongly associated with psychopathology. In this multi-study research, we hypothesized that metacognitive beliefs about uncontrollability make a specific contribution to emotion regulation strategies and clinical symptoms. We tested our hypotheses in four different studies, both cross-sectionally and longitudinally (N = 2224). Participants completed measures of metacognitive beliefs, maladaptive strategies (e.g., worry, thought suppression), and clinical symptoms (e.g., generalized anxiety, emotional distress, depressive and anxiety symptoms). Our results showed that uncontrollability beliefs were the strongest variable associated with maladaptive emotion regulation strategies and clinical symptoms (cross-sectionally), and the only ones that predicted them in the long term. We discuss the theoretical and clinical implications of these results in the light of the metacognitive model and control-related theories.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBU

Comparison of organic packing materials for toluene biofiltration

he paper focuses on the operation of a pilot plant with four biofilters operated in parallel for determining the suitability of coconut fiber, peat, compost from the digested sludge of a wastewater treatment plant and pine leaves as packing materials for biofiltration of toluene. Physical characteristics of packing materials such as specific surface area, density, pore size and elemental composition were determined for each packing material. Biological activity and packing capabilities related to toluene removal were determined during the startup and operation of the four biofilters under different conditions of nutrients, watering and inlet air relative humidity supply. Nutrient addition was key in improving removal efficiency (RE) and elimination capacity (EC) of biofilters. Feeding of medium with nutrients increased the RE and the EC by a factor of 2 to 4 than these found when supplying only tap water. Additionally, when extra nitrogen was supplied in the medium, RE and EC increased by a factor of 2. Nutrient addition also lead to a microbial population change from bacterial to fungal biofilters. It was denoted that watering control is necessary to improve fungal biofilters performance in terms of ensuring a proper washout of acidic by-products to avoid fungi inhibition and consequent lowered removal capacities.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Transforming moroccan adobe Kasbahs into a network of sustainable hotels

The valleys of Southern Morocco are territorial corridors that are extremely rich in landscape and cultural terms but very fragile socially and economically. The 1000 kasbahs and ksars punctuating the length of the valleys have been the links in the chain providing a structure for these regions over the last three centuries. Their imposing presence means they have come to be seen as inseparable elements of the landscape and symbols of the region's identity. The abandonment and rapid deterioration of these rammed-earth constructions demonstrates the risk that this heritage could be lost right across the region. The proposal is to recover and restore some of these kasbahs to create a network of hotels which would also function as centres for the cultural interpretation of the region. The aim is to give the kasbahs back their role as structural elements for the territory, converting them into change agents for its economy and culture while simultaneously recovering their architectural heritage and landscape value.Peer Reviewe

This paper reflects upon how national culture influences on Corporate SocialResponsibility practices. For this purpose, the metaphor of “organizationas culture” was used as theoretical framework, and Sweden as case study byidentifying elements from its history and language which have contributedto the acceptance and reinterpretation of CRS concept in the country.In conclusion, the paper presents the “socially responsible” condition as ambiguousand contextual, emphasizing on national culture as a variable whichcannot be underestimated in the analysis of CSR initiatives.Este artículo es una reflexión acerca de cómo la cultura nacional influencia alas prácticas de Responsabilidad Social Empresarial. Rehabilitation of the Barón de Ariza’s town house in Valencia

[EN] The Barón de Ariza’s town house, designed by the architect A. Ferrer, was totally unknown until its rehabilitation as the headquarters of the Valencia Entrepreneurial Confederation. However, the refurbished facade, the spatial layout of the reception rooms on the noble floor and the ornamentation make of this work a valuable prototype of the Valencian eclecticism of the end of the 19th century. The rehabilitation strove to achieve an equilibrium between its architectural and functional qualities, and to enhance the pieces or elements that best contributed to its historic artistic value. The explanation of the work performed on the building are closed by an article by Enriqueta González about the restoration of the ornaments and brass decorations of the noble floor.[ES] La Casa Palacio del Barón de Ariza, obra del arquitecto A. Ferrer, ha sido hasta su rehabilitación como sede de la Confederación Empresarial Valenciana completamente desconocida. Sin embargo, su fachada rehabilitada, la composición espacial de sus salones en planta noble y su ornamentación, hacen de esta obra un prototipo muy valioso del eclecticismo valenciano de finales del siglo XIX. En su rehabilitación se ha buscado un equilibrio entre sus cualidades arquitectónicas y funcionales, procurando potenciar aquellas piezas o elementos que mejor contribuyan a su valor histórico artístico.
