Experimental setup for carrier lifetime measurement based on photoluminescence response. Design, construction and calibration

The measurement of the effective carrier lifetime in silicon has a great importance for material characterization in the photovoltaic field since carrier lifetime represents a fundamental quality factor in solar cell production. Photoluminescence is a technique that allows lifetime measurement at low injection level not affected by the measurement artifacts (minority carrier trapping and the depletion-region modulation) typically found in other techniques. We have designed and constructed a device to calibrate and measure the photoluminescence response of silicon solar cells. Then we have applied the quasisteady- state photoluminescence technique (QSS-PL) to obtain the minority carrier lifetime curve. The objective is to extend the available measurement range to obtain additional information about surface recombination

Motivación y vigencia en seis locuciones del universo de Carlos Ruiz Zafón

El autor catalán Carlos Ruiz Zafón se ha revelado, con la publicación de La sombra del viento, como un fenómeno literario mundial, traducido a más de cincuenta lenguas. Su proceso creativo pone de relieve diversos elementos de la cultura española y, entre ellos, un considerable botón de muestra del acervo fraseológico de esta lengua. El cuidado en la elección de las locuciones que utiliza, y que nos interesa particularmente en este trabajo, nos da a conocer a un escritor extremadamente coherente en lo que respecta a la adecuación de dichas unidades fraseológicas al tiempo de su narrativa. En este artículo trataremos de esbozar una radiografía de seis locuciones que se han extraído de la segunda fase del conjunto de su obra, volcada a los lectores adultos (La sombra del viento, 2001; El juego del ángel, 2008; y El prisionero del cielo, 2011). Nuestro objetivo no es otro, sino averiguar el camino que han recorrido estas locuciones desde sus orígenes y primeros registros, sus posibles mutaciones al paso de los años y, por fin, su vigencia en el español actual.The catalan author, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, revealed himself - with the publishing of The Shadow of the Wind, a literary world phenomenon, translated to more than fifty languages. His creative process highlights various elements of the spanish culture and, among them, a considerable examples of the phraseological collection of this language. Also, the carefulness on the choice of the locutions (phrases) the author uses, and which are particularly of our interest in this study, for it allows us to know a writer extremely coherent in relation to the proper adequacy of such phraseological units in relation to the time of his narrative. In this article we intend to outline a radiography of six locutions extracted from the second phase of the overall set of his writings, written for adult readers (The Shadow of the Wind, 2001; The Angel's Game, 2008; and The Prisioner of Heaven, 2011. Our only aim in this study is to ascertain the path which these locutions (phrases) thrilled since its origins and first registers, possible mutations as time went by and, finally, sua its period of validity in spanish spoken nowadays

QoS-based surrogates selection and service proposal formulation in offloading environments

Resource constraints are becoming a problem as many of the wireless mobile devices have increased generality. Our work tries to address this growing demand on resources and performance, by proposing the dynamic selection of neighbor nodes for cooperative service execution. This selection is in uenced by user's quality of service requirements expressed in his request, tailoring provided service to user's speci c needs. In this paper we improve our proposal's formulation algorithm with the ability to trade o time for the quality of the solution. At any given time, a complete solution for service execution exists, and the quality of that solution is expected to improve overtime

Evolution of the coastal bottom trawl fishery at Puerto Quequén, Buenos Aires province, Argentina: 1999-2010 period

El objetivo del presente trabajo es estudiar la posibilidad de la ocurrencia del proceso denominado "pescar descendiendo por la red trófica" en Puerto Quequén, por medio de la relación entre el patrón temporal de los desembarques e indicadores indirectos de ese proceso, tales como el nivel trófico medio y el índice de pesca balanceada. La estimación del total desembarcado se efectuó a partir de la información suministrada por los partes de pesca confeccionados por los patrones de los barcos de pesca. Para cada año de estudio, se calculó el nivel trófico medio y el índice de pesca balanceada. El análisis de la serie temporal de la variación del nivel trófico medio se realizó a través del modelo de regresión lineal. Con relación al total desembarcado no se apreciaron variaciones para el periodo de estudio. Más del 90 %del total desembarcado está representado por 10 especies o grupos de especies. El análisis de regresión muestra una tendencia positiva significativa. No se observa una declinación en el nivel trófico medio de la pesquería, concluyéndose que no se está produciendo el proceso denominado "pescar descendiendo por la red trófica". No obstante el índice de pesca balanceada indica que la flota ha llegado a un punto máximo de expansión comenzando, probablemente un proceso de declinación que haría que la pesquería se encuentre desbalanceada en términos ecológicos, volviéndose no sustentable.The occurence of the "fishing down food web" process at Puerto Quequén was studied, based on the relationship between the temporal pattern of landings and indirect indicators as the mean trophic level an the "fishing in balance" index. Total landings were obtained from vessels landing reports. For each year the mean trophic level of fishery and the "fishing in balance" index were calculated. For the analysis of the temporal series of the mean trophic level, a linear regression model was used. With relation to total landings, no changes were -distinguished. Ten species represent more than the 90 of total landings. The regression analysis showed a significant and positive tendency. No declination in the mean trophic level of fishery was observed, thus the "fishing down food web" process is no occurring at Puerto Quequén. However, the "fishing in balance index" shows that the fleet has reached a level of limit expansion, starting, probably, with a descendent process making the fishery unbalanced in ecological terms and turning it no sustainable.Fil: Perez Comesaña, Jorge Eduardo. High-accurate SPH method with Multidimensional Optimal Order Detection limiting

International audienceWe present a new high-accurate, stable and low-dissipative Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method based on Riemann solvers. The method derives from the SPH-ALE formulation first proposed by Vila and Ben Moussa. Moving Least Squares approximations are used for the reconstruction of the variables and the computation of Taylor expansions. The stability of the scheme is achieved by the a posteriori Multi-dimensional Optimal Order Detection (MOOD) paradigm. Such a procedure enables to provide genuine gains in accuracy both for one-and two-dimensional problems involving non-smooth flows when compared to classical SPH methods
