    Shipping noise assessment in the Black Sea: insights from large-scale ASI CeNoBS survey data

    Sighting data deriving from the ACCOBAMS1 Survey Initiative (ASI), conducted through the CeNoBS2 project, enabled the investigation of the habitat preferences for three different cetacean subspecies occurring in the Black Sea waters: the bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), the common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) and the harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). ASI aerial surveys, aiming at assessing the distribution and abundance of cetacean populations, were conducted during summer of 2019 in waters in front of Romania, Georgia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Ukraine. The surveys allowed recording of 1716 sightings: 117 bottlenose dolphins, 715 common dolphins and 884 harbour porpoises. The aim of this study was twofold: (i) to develop habitat models, using physical characteristics, such as depth and slope, as covariates, in order to estimate the presence probability of the three cetacean species in the Black Sea; (ii) to demonstrate the usefulness of the habitat models in support of environmental status assessments on marine mammals where the stressor is the shipping noise. The results of this study show the reliability of physical covariates as predictors of the probability of occurrence for the three species of interest in the Black Sea, providing additional knowledge, complementary to abundance estimates, which may support the assessment of the vulnerability of marine areas to different pressures, including noise

    Co-exposure of the organic nanomaterial fullerene C60 with benzo[a]pyrene in Danio rerio (zebrafish) hepatocytes: Evidence of toxicological interactions

    Compounds from the nanotechnology industry, such as carbon-based nanomaterials, are strong candidates to contaminate aquatic environments because their production and disposal have exponentially grown in a few years. Previous evidence shows that fullerene C60, a carbon nanomaterial, can facilitate the intake of metals or PAHs both in vivo and in vitro, potentially amplifying the deleterious effects of these toxicants in organisms. The present work aimed to investigate the effects of fullerene C60 in a Danio rerio (zebrafish) hepatocyte cell lineage exposed to benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in terms of cell viability, oxidative stress parameters and BaP intracellular accumulation. Additionally, a computational docking was performed to investigate the interaction of the fullerene C60 molecule with the detoxificatory and antioxidant enzyme πGST. Fullerene C60 provoked a significant (p 0.05) alter the enzyme activity when added to GST purified extracts from the zebrafish hepatocyte cells. These results show that fullerene C60 can increase the intake of BaP into the cells, decreasing cell viability and impairing the detoxificatory response by phase II enzymes, such as GST, and this latter effect should be occurring at the transcriptional level.Fil: Ribas Ferreira, Josencler L..     Estrés laboral y procrastinación en docentes de una institución pública de la ciudad de Chiclayo en el marco de la educación virtual, 2020 – 2021

    La presente investigación planteó como objetivo establecer la relación entre Estrés laboral y procrastinación en docentes de una institución pública de la ciudad de Chiclayo en el marco de la educación virtual, 2020-2021. A su vez, es de naturaleza cuantitativa, diseño no experimental - transversal y de tipo correlacional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 25 docentes pertenecientes a la institución educativa 10023 – Suazo de la ciudad de Chiclayo. Así mismo, los instrumentos utilizados fueron la escala de estrés laboral de OIT/OMS, diseñada por Ivancevich y Matterson (1989); y el inventario de postergación activa y pasiva en el entorno laboral (IPAP), adaptado y baremado por Yunis (2018). Los hallazgos más importantes son los siguientes: Existe correlación altamente significativa entre estrés laboral y procrastinación (p<0.01); así mismo se encontró relación altamente significativa entre las dimensiones postergación activa y pasiva, y la dimensión superiores y recursos; por otro lado, se encontró relación significativa entre las dimensiones postergación activa y pasiva, y la dimensión Organización y equipo. Finalmente, el 68% de los evaluados presentan niveles de procrastinación media, mientras que el 28% obtuvo un nivel bajo de estrés laboral.TesisComunicación y desarrollo human

Tots els treballs s’han dut a terme a través de la plataforma de GoogleDocs i han estat tutoritzats pel professor de l’assignatura i revisats i finalment co-avaluats entre els propis estudiants.     Prevalence, associated factors and outcomes of pressure injuries in adult intensive care unit patients: the DecubICUs study

Epidemiologic data is however unavailable. We aimed to provide an international picture of the extent of pressure injuries and factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries in adult ICU patients. Methods: International 1-day point-prevalence study; follow-up for outcome assessment until hospital discharge (maximum 12 weeks). Factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injury and hospital mortality were assessed by generalised linear mixed-effects regression analysis. Results: Data from 13,254 patients in 1117 ICUs (90 countries) revealed 6747 pressure injuries; 3997 (59.2%) were ICU-acquired. Overall prevalence was 26.6% (95% confidence interval [CI] 25.9–27.3). ICU-acquired prevalence was 16.2% (95% CI 15.6–16.8). Sacrum (37%) and heels (19.5%) were most affected. Factors independently associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries were older age, male sex, being underweight, emergency surgery, higher Simplified Acute Physiology Score II, Braden score 3 days, comorbidities (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, immunodeficiency), organ support (renal replacement, mechanical ventilation on ICU admission), and being in a low or lower-middle income-economy. Gradually increasing associations with mortality were identified for increasing severity of pressure injury: stage I (odds ratio [OR] 1.5; 95% CI 1.2–1.8), stage II (OR 1.6; 95% CI 1.4–1.9), and stage III or worse (OR 2.8; 95% CI 2.3–3.3). Conclusion: Pressure injuries are common in adult ICU patients. ICU-acquired pressure injuries are associated with mainly intrinsic factors and mortality. Optimal care standards, increased awareness, appropriate resource allocation, and further research into optimal prevention are pivotal to tackle this important patient safety threat
