    Dynamics of Fluid Fuel Reactors in the Presence of Periodic Perturbations

    The appearance of perturbations characterized by a periodic time behavior in fluid fuel reactors is connected to the possible precipitation of fissile compounds which are moved within the primary circuit by the fuel motion. In this paper the time-dependent response of a critical fluid fuel system to periodic perturbations is analyzed, solving the full neutronic model and comparing the results with approximate methods, such as point kinetics. A fundamental eigenvalue of the problem is defined, characterizing the trend of divergence of the power. Parametric studies on the reactivity insertion, the fuel velocity and the recirculation time are performed, evidencing the sensitivity of the eigenvalue on typical design parameters. Non-linear calculations in the presence of a negative feedback term are then performed, in order to assess the possibility to control a fluid fuel system when periodic reactivity perturbations are involved

    Pseudohypoaldosteronisms, report on a 10-patient series

    Background. Type 1 pseudohypoaldosteronism (PHA1) is a salt-wasting syndrome caused by mineralocorticoid resistance. Autosomal recessive and dominant hereditary forms are caused by Epithelial Na Channel and Mineralocorticoid Receptor mutation respectively, while secondary PHA1 is usually associated with urological problems. Methods. Ten patients were studied in four French pediatric units in order to characterize PHA1 spectrum in infants. Patients were selected by chart review. Genetic, clinical and biochemistry data were collected and analyzed. Results. Autosomal recessive PHA1 (n = 3) was diagnosed at 6 and 7 days of life in three patients presenting with severe hyperkalaemia and weight loss. After 8 months, 3 and 5 years on follow-up, neurological development and longitudinal growth was normal with high sodium supplementation. Autosomal dominant PHA1 (n = 4) was revealed at 15, 19, 22 and 30 days of life because of failure to thrive. At 8 months, 3 and 21 years of age, longitudinal growth was normal in three patients who were given salt supplementation; no significant catch-up growth was obtained in the last patient at 20 months of age. Secondary PHA1 (n = 3) was diagnosed at 11, 26 days and 5 months of life concomitantly with acute pyelonephritis in three children with either renal hypoplasia, urinary duplication or bilateral megaureter. The outcome was favourable and salt supplementation was discontinued after 3, 11 and 13 months. Conclusions. PHA1 should be suspected in case of severe hyperkalemia and weight loss in infants and need careful management. Pathogenesis of secondary PHA1 is still challenging and further studies are mandatory to highlight the link between infection, developing urinary tract and pseudohypoaldosteronis

    Control of citrus scab, melanose and leprosis with fungicides and miticide mixed to foliar fertilizer

    Pulverizações com ziram (Rodisan SC), oxicloreto de cobre (Coprantol BR) e óxido de fembutatina (Torque 500 SC) em dosagens normais e subdosagens, isoladamente ou em mistura com um adubo foliar originário da fermentação glutâmica do melaço, controlaram de forma efetiva a verrugose, melanose e leprose em laranja pera. A aplicação isolada do resíduo da fermentação glutâmica do melaço, base para diversos adubos foliares, nas dosagens de 0,25% e 5% do produto comercial Ajifol, não interferiu na ocorrência de verrugose e melanose. Entretanto, ocasionou um aumento do número de frutos com leprose, do número de lesões de leprose por fruto e do número de ácaros da leprose (Brevipalpus phoenicis Geipsks) nas folhas e nos frutos.Normal dosage and tinder-dosage sprays of ziram (Rodisan SC); cooper oxychloride (Coprantol BR) and fenbutatin oxide (Torque 500 SC), isolately or in association with Ajifol, a foliar fertilizer from molasses glutamic fermentation, provided efficient control of scab, melanose and leprosis in 'Pera' orange. Sprays of Ajifol at 0.25 and 5% had no effect on the rate of occurrence of scab and melanose, but was correlated with increases in the rates of fruits with symptoms of leprosis, number of leprosis spots per fruit, and the number of leprosis mites (Brevipalpus phoenicis Geijskes) on leaves and fruits

    Synthesis of 7-Chloroquinoline Derivatives Using Mixed Lithium-Magnesium Reagents

    We have prepared a library of functionalized quinolines through the magnesiation of 7-chloroquinolines under mild conditions, employing both batch and continuous flow conditions. The preparation involved the generation of mixed lithium-magnesium intermediates, which were reacted with different electrophiles. Mixed lithium-zinc reagents allowed the synthesis of halogenated and arylated derivatives. Some of the synthesized 4-carbinol quinolines have shown interesting antiproliferative properties, their hydroxyl group being a suitable amino group bioisostere. We also report a two-step approach for optically active derivatives

    Este artículo analiza las perspectivas de los académicos de la Educación Física en el contexto de la enseñanza y de la actuación con los estudiantes con discapacidad en la Educación Física y el Deporte en la escuela. El estudio tiene como objetivo analizar las opiniones de los académicos respecto al contexto de actuación. Esta investigación es de naturaleza descriptiva y transversal abordándose de manera cuantitativa. Se llevó a cabo por medio de una encuesta en la que 82 estudiantes de Educación Física respondieron a un cuestionario. Se realizó distribución de frecuencias, análisis factorial y análisis temático. Los participantes fueron de la opinión de que los objetivos de la Educación Física y el Deporte en la escuela, promover conductas sanas, la práctica del deporte y las relaciones socio-afectivas, son beneficiosas para el desarrollo del trabajo con personas con diferentes discapacidades. Creemos que este trabajo puede ser de ayuda en los planes de estudio de Educación Física y ayudar a gestionar y dirigir mejor la formación de profesores para los alumnos con discapacidades.This article discusses the perspectives of academics on Physical Education within the context of teaching and against the background of working with students with disabilities in Physical Education and Sports in school.
