    Thickness and temperature dependent damping in La0.67_{0.67}Sr0.33_{0.33}MnO3_{3} epitaxial films

    The damping of La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) epitaxial films as a function of thickness at different temperatures was studied. The competition between two scattering types (\r{ho}-like and {\sigma}-like) with entirely distinct thickness and temperature dependencies resulted in complicated damping behavior. The behavior of {\sigma}-like damping in LSMO films is consistent with the behavior in magnetic metal films. However, because \r{ho}-like damping is sensitive to the fine electron structure near the Fermi surface, the distortion of the oxygen octahedra controlled by the film thickness is an important factor in controlling the damping. Our study demonstrates that the complexity of damping in LSMO epitaxial films is a consequence of strong-correlation effects, which are characteristic of complex transition-metal oxides

    Photoassisted High-Performance Lithium Anode Enabled by Oriented Crystal Planes

    Lithium (Li) metal anodes are candidates for the next-generation high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, uncontrolable Li dendrite growth leads to safety issues and a low Coulombic efficiency (CE), which hinders the commercialization of Li metal batteries. Stable Li anodes based on the tailored plane deposition and photoassisted synergistic current collectors are currently the subject of research; however, there are few related studies. To suppress the growth of Li dendrites and achieve dense Li deposition, we design a low-cost customized-facet/photoassisted synergistic dendrite-free anode. The tailored (002) plane endows it with a nanorod array/microsphere composite structure and exhibits a strong affinity for Li, which effectively reduces the Li+ nucleation overpotential and promotes uniform Li deposition. Notably, during the photoassisted Li deposition/stripping process, due to electron–hole separation, a weakly charged layer is formed on the (002) surface and local charge carrier changes are induced, reducing the overpotential by 8.3 mV, enhancing the reaction kinetics, and resulting in a high CE of ∼99.3% for the 300th cycle at 2 mA cm–2.     Summary: This study systematically reviewed the application of large language models (LLMs) in medicine, analyzing 550 selected studies from a vast literature search. LLMs like ChatGPT transformed healthcare by enhancing diagnostics, medical writing, education, and project management. They assisted in drafting medical documents, creating training simulations, and streamlining research processes. Despite their growing utility in assisted diagnosis and improving doctor-patient communication, challenges persisted, including limitations in contextual understanding and the risk of over-reliance. The surge in LLM-related research indicated a focus on medical writing, diagnostics, and patient communication, but highlighted the need for careful integration, considering validation, ethical concerns, and the balance with traditional medical practice. Future research directions suggested a focus on multimodal LLMs, deeper algorithmic understanding, and ensuring responsible, effective use in healthcare

    Regulatory effects of Shewanella putrefaciens isolated from shrimp Penaeus orientalis on the virulence factors of Vibrio parahaemolyticus and evaluation of the role of quorum sensing in virulence factors regulation

    As an aquatic pathogen widely present in aquatic food, Vibrio parahaemolyticus causes outbreaks of gastroenteritis across the globe. Virulence factors of V. parahaemolyticus increases with the amount of spoilage in aquatic organisms including shrimp, but mechanisms regulating its virulence factors are not well understood. In this study, five spoilage bacteria isolated from shrimp were investigated for their regulatory effects on the virulence factors including haemolysin and biofilm of V. parahaemolyticus. Among these isolates, Shewanella putrefaciens induced haemolytic activity in V. parahaemolyticus in a time-dose-temperature-dependent manner and we found the main component responsible for this effect to be the supernatant or cell-free extract of S. putrefaciens. Total haemolytic activity, expression of the thermostable direct haemolysin gene tdh and biofilm production of V. parahaemolyticus were significantly up-regulated by S. putrefaciens, but also by deletion of quorum-sensing luxM or luxS gene of V. parahaemolyticus. However, this regulation by S. putrefaciens was significantly impaired by deletion of the luxM gene, but not by deletion of the luxS gene. Further study showed that S. putrefaciens exhibited a strong degradation ability on the signalling molecule acylated homoserine lactone (AHL) synthesised by the LuxM enzyme. This study revealed a novel virulence regulatory mechanism that S. putrefaciens can significantly increase the virulence factors of V. parahaemolyticus via interfering with the luxM- type quorum-sensing signalling pathway through its AHL-degradation ability
