El “Palcho della sala” del palacio Ramírez de Montalvo en Florencia (1567-1570)
The main hall of the piano nobile is a key axis in Ammannati’s architectural project for the Ramírez de Montalvo palace in Florence and
its status is entrusted to its wooden celiling, as well as to its monumental hearth and its spatial organisation. This architectural setting is
also key to the palace project of the Spanish courtier and for his protector Duke Cosimo I’s strategy to
fl
aunt the social position of his most
loyal collaborators in the new order of the Principato. Through the further exploration of the design and construction of the ‘palcho della
sala’ of the Palace of Antonio Ramírez de Montalvo this study focuses on inherent features of the architecture of the Florentine secondo
Cinquecento: from the complex relationship between architecture and politics based on the role played by Cosimo I and other court
clients, to the more technological matters concerning the organisation of the work-site or – regarding speci

A Data-Driven Framework to Model Physical Fatigue in Industrial Environments Using Wearable Technologies
Industry 4.0 is the tendency towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing and the process sector. However, many manual material handling and repetitive operations can still cause the operators fatigue or exhaustion. Once the operator
experiences physical fatigue, their performance decreases. The consequences may result in reduced production quality and efficiency and increased operational human errors that could give rise to incidents and accidents. Over time, physical fatigue can result in more adverse effects for the operators, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WSMD). For this reason, from an occupational health and safety point of view, the operator’s hysical fatigue must be managed. The increasing availability of wearable devices combined with health information can provide real-time measuring and monitoring of physical fatigue in the operational environment while minimally influencing the primary job. This paper presents a physiological signal-based approach using a non-intrusive wristband for continuous health monitoring to predict physical fatigue in industrial-related tasks. These data are used as input to classification algorithms to detect physical fatigue. Accurate and real-time physical fatigue detection helps to improve operator safety and prevent work accidents. Future work will deploy the model in a real-world environment in the industry
On-street illegal parking costs in urban areas
Private transport represents more than a third of all the journeys carried out in large cities urban areas. The high amount of traffic in metropolitan zones implies the appearance of congestion that is one of the most important complications transport engineers must fight against. Bottle necks are one of the most common reasons of congestion effect and on-street illegal parking (double parked or driving lane parked) implies the creation of a (or successive) bottle neck. This paper is focused on to evaluate the costs that appear when on-street illegal parking is detected. To achieve the paper’s goal, first of all, the different costs of the journey have been defined and formulated; next, the effect of illegal parking has been considered and the cost related to that has been formulated for each of the different types of cost.
In order to use the formulation obtained two real scenarios have been evaluated, Barcelona and New York City. The results obtained in real scenarios have demonstrated that the economic cost due to car parking indiscipline to the whole city is significant; also it is worth to remark that unit cost (cost provoked for a single vehicle) differs depending on the location of the violation and the affected vehicle.Postprint (published version

On-street illegal parking cost is significantly outstanding. According to data, on street illegal parking reduction has to be one basic pillar of mobility policies. This reduction would allow a higher road capacity and, consequently, greater traffic fluidity.Postprint (published version
IJTC2008-71155 TRIBOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF ALUMINA NANOCOMPOSITES FOR ORTHOPEDICS APPLICATIONS
ABSTRACT In this study the tribological analysis of Al 2 O 3 nanocomposites/Al 2 O 3 pair; proposed as a candidate material to fabricate hip prostheses was carried out. Nanopowders of Al 2 O 3 (AKP 50, 300 nm), TiO 2 (PS-25, 50 nm) and Co metallic powder (Nilaco, 28 nm) were mixed and hot pressed. Wear test was carried out in a pin-on-plate tribometer, with a frequency of 1 Hz, a load of 49 N, for 4h; the counterface used was Al 2 O 3 . Mechanical properties as Vickers hardness, fracture toughness and Young's modulus were estimated using the indentation method. Distilled water and fetal bovine serum solution (FBSS) were used as environment. It was found that the specific wear rate of Al 2 O 3 nanocomposites was about 10 -8 mm 3 /N*m and the coefficients of friction were around 0.3-0.5 for FBSS. Worn surfaces were observed using SEM
Z-Axis Meandering Patch Antenna and Fabrication Thereof
Apparatus and techniques described herein can include antenna configurations and related fabrication. For example, a Z-axis meandering antenna configuration can be fabricated, such as by forming a dielectric substrate extending in two dimensions and defining an undulating region extending out of a plane defined by the two dimensions; and forming at least one conductive region following a contour of the dielectric substrate including at least a portion of the undulating region. The at least one conductive region can follow the contour of the dielectric substrate, such as including a first conductive region on a first layer, and a second conductive region on another layer separate from the first conductive region of the first conductive layer

vistas.[EN]This Master’s thesis develops the problem of the photons trajectory in a gravitational field generated by a source within the framework of general relativity, a geometric theory where gravity is explained from the curvature of space-time. This situation is important because it has been the basis for recent photographs of the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy M87 [3] by the Event Horizont Telescope Collaboration (EHT) .Let us present the solution to the problem in a general way based on physically interesting
parameters. The geometric scalars obtained by following a tetrad in 1+3 formalism des cribe the source and the energy and angular momentum parameters describe the photon
orbits around the source.
Through our new model with these parameters, we can first classify and parameterize all possible geodesics in a simple way. After that, we check that we obtain the already known results. Finally, new unknown cases are introduced that open lines of research on other types of geodesics never seen before
