Estrés parental: Un programa de salud dirigido a padres de hijos con fibrosis quística
La fibrosis quística es una enfermedad crónica y genética que afecta mayoritariamente a niños y jóvenes. Se diagnostica gracias al cribado neonatal en el recién nacido. A lo largo de la vida del paciente pueden sufrir complicaciones que deriven en una reagudización necesitan tratamiento hospitalario. La fibrosis quística es una patología que requiere muchos cuidados y van a irse produciendo diferentes cambios en el niño, produciendo un gran nivel de estrés en los padres.<br /

El RD 1393/2007 por el que se establece la ordenación de las enseñanzas universitarias oficiales, indica, entre otros aspectos, que la formación en cualquier actividad profesional debe contribuir al conocimiento y desarrollo de los principios de accesibilidad universal, diseño para todos y todas, igualdad entre hombres y mujeres y la protección del medioambiente. El objetivo de esta comunicación es realizar un estudio sobre el grado de cumplimiento de lo establecido en dicho RD en las enseñanzas universitarias de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad de Alicante. Para ello el estudio se centra en dos partes bien diferenciadas, la primera consistente en un análisis de los títulos de grado en referencia a la formación en accesibilidad, diseño e igualdad anteriormente referenciados, y una segunda parte donde se analiza desde la perspectiva del espacio urbano y arquitectónico el edificio de Ciencias II, donde se imparte docencia, promoviendo una serie de mejoras que nos permitan conseguir espacios más accesibles e integradores

Atendiendo a estas necesidades formativas que deben ser recogidas en los títulos de grado, desde la Universidad de Alicante se ha puesto en marcha a través del Secretariado de Desarrollo de Campus del Vicerrectorado de Campus y Sostenibilidad el proyecto “Campus Accesible Campus Igualitario” para potenciar un campus inclusivo que tenga en cuenta esta perspectiva tanto en el espacio urbano como en el arquitectónico. El objetivo de esta comunicación es exponer la metodología seguida para potenciar el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje de estas competencias básicas, que deberían estar incluidas en todos los planes de estudio. Para ello se expone un modelo de taller práctico que pretende potenciar la adquisición de las competencias necesarias sobre igualdad y accesibilidad en el espacio urbano y arquitectónico, así como desarrollar el pensamiento crítico y constructivo para que cada estudiante que se gradúe en nuestra universidad pueda contribuir a la construcción de una sociedad más inclusiva
ImmunoPEGliposomes for the targeted delivery of novel lipophilic drugs to red blood cells in a falciparum malaria murine model
Most drugs currently entering the clinical pipeline for severe
malaria therapeutics are of lipophilic nature, with a relatively
poor solubility in plasma and large biodistribution volumes. Low
amounts of these compounds do consequently accumulate in
circulating Plasmodium-infected red blood cells, exhibiting
limited antiparasitic activity. These drawbacks can in principle
be satisfactorily dealt with by stably encapsulating drugs in
targeted nanocarriers. Here this approach has been adapted for
its use in immunocompetent mice infected by the Plasmodium
yoelii 17XL lethal strain, selected as a model for human blood
infections by Plasmodium falciparum. Using immunoliposomes
targeted against a surface protein characteristic of the murine
erythroid lineage, the protocol has been applied to two novel
antimalarial lipophilic drug candidates, an aminoquinoline and
an aminoalcohol. Large encapsulation yields of >90% were
obtained using a citrate-buffered pH gradient method and the
resulting immunoliposomes reached in vivo erythrocyte targeting
and retention efficacies of >80%. In P. yoelii-infected mice,
the immunoliposomized aminoquinoline succeeded in decreasing
blood parasitemia from severe to uncomplicated malaria parasite
densities (i.e. from >/=25% to ca. 5%), whereas the same
amount of drug encapsulated in non-targeted liposomes had no
significant effect on parasite growth. Pharmacokinetic analysis
indicated that this good performance was obtained with a rapid
clearance of immunoliposomes from the circulation (blood
half-life of ca. 2 h), suggesting a potential for improvement of
the proposed model
Dissecting quasars with the J-PAS narrow-band photometric survey
Nuclear Activity in Galaxies Across Cosmic Time, Proceedings of the conference held 7-11 October 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Edited by Mirjana Pović et al. Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union, Volume 356, pp. 12-16The J-PAS survey will soon start observing thousands of square degrees of the Northern Sky with its unique set of 56 narrow band filters covering the entire optical wavelength range, providing, effectively, a low resolution spectra for every object detected. Active galaxies and quasars, thanks to their strong emission lines, can be easily identified and characterized with J-PAS data. A variety of studies can be performed, from IFU-like analysis of local AGN, to clustering of high-z quasars. We also expect to be able to extract intrinsic physical quasar properties from the J-PAS pseudo-spectra, including continuum slope and emission line luminosities. Here we show the first attempts of using the QSFit software package to derive the properties for 22 quasars at 0.8 < z < 2 observed by the miniJPAS survey, the first deg2 of J-PAS data obtained with an interim camera. Ductular reaction promotes intrahepatic angiogenesis through Slit2-Roundabout 1 signaling
Background and aims: Ductular reaction (DR) expands in chronic liver diseases and correlates with disease severity. Besides its potential role in liver regeneration, DR plays a role in the wound-healing response of the liver, promoting periductular fibrosis and inflammatory cell recruitment. However, there is no information regarding its role in intrahepatic angiogenesis. In the current study we investigated the potential contribution of DR cells to hepatic vascular remodeling during chronic liver disease.
Approach and results: In mouse models of liver injury, DR cells express genes involved in angiogenesis. Among angiogenesis-related genes, the expression of Slit2 and its receptor Roundabout 1 (Robo1) was localized in DR cells and neoangiogenic vessels, respectively. The angiogenic role of the Slit2-Robo1 pathway in chronic liver disease was confirmed in ROBO1/2-/+ mice treated with 3,5-diethoxycarbonyl-1,4-dihydrocollidine, which displayed reduced intrahepatic neovascular density compared to wild-type mice. However, ROBO1/2 deficiency did not affect angiogenesis in partial hepatectomy. In patients with advanced alcohol-associated disease, angiogenesis was associated with DR, and up-regulation of SLIT2-ROBO1 correlated with DR and disease severity. In vitro, human liver-derived organoids produced SLIT2 and induced tube formation of endothelial cells.

J-PAS: Forecasts for dark matter - dark energy elastic couplings
We consider a cosmological model where dark matter and dark energy feature a
coupling that only affects their momentum transfer in the corresponding Euler
equations. We perform a fit to cosmological observables and confirm previous
findings within these scenarios that favour the presence of a coupling at more
than . This improvement is driven by the Sunyaev-Zeldovich data. We
subsequently perform a forecast for future J-PAS data and find that clustering
measurements will permit to clearly discern the presence of an interaction
within a few percent level with the uncoupled case at more than when
the complete survey, covering sq. deg., is considered. We found that the
inclusion of weak lensing measurements will not help to further constrain the
coupling parameter. For completeness, we compare to forecasts for DESI and

The miniJPAS survey quasar selection IV: Classification and redshift estimation with SQUEzE
We present a list of quasar candidates including photometric redshift
estimates from the miniJPAS Data Release constructed using SQUEzE. This work is
based on machine-learning classification of photometric data of quasar
candidates using SQUEzE. It has the advantage that its classification procedure
can be explained to some extent, making it less of a `black box' when compared
with other classifiers. Another key advantage is that using user-defined
metrics means the user has more control over the classification. While SQUEzE
was designed for spectroscopic data, here we adapt it for multi-band
photometric data, i.e. we treat multiple narrow-band filters as very
low-resolution spectra. We train our models using specialized mocks from
Queiroz et al. (2022). We estimate our redshift precision using the normalized
median absolute deviation, applied to our test sample. Our
test sample returns an score (effectively the purity and completeness) of
0.49 for quasars down to magnitude with and 0.24 for
quasars with . For high-z quasars, this goes up to 0.9 for . We
present two catalogues of quasar candidates including redshift estimates: 301
from point-like sources and 1049 when also including extended sources. We
discuss the impact of including extended sources in our predictions (they are
not included in the mocks), as well as the impact of changing the noise model
of the mocks. We also give an explanation of SQUEzE reasoning. Our estimates
for the redshift precision using the test sample indicate a
for the entire sample, reduced to 0.81\% for
and 0.74\% for . Spectroscopic follow-up of the candidates is required

The miniJPAS & J-NEP surveys: Identification and characterization of the Ly Emitter population and the Ly Luminosity Function
We present the Lyman- (Lya) Luminosity Function (LF) at ,
estimated from a sample of 67 Lya-emitter (LAE) candidates in the J-PAS
Pathfinder surveys: miniJPAS and J-NEP. These two surveys cover a total
effective area of deg with 54 Narrow Band (NB) filters across
the optical range, with typical limiting magnitudes of . This set of
NBs allows to probe Lya emission in a wide and continuous range of redshifts.
We develop a method for detecting Lya emission for the estimation of the Lya LF
using the whole J-PAS filter set. We test this method by applying it to the
miniJPAS and J-NEP data. In order to compute the corrections needed to estimate
the Lya LF and to test the performance of the candidates selection method, we
build mock catalogs. These include representative populations of Lya Emitters
at as well as their expected contaminants, namely low- galaxies
and QSOs. We show that our method is able to provide the Lya LF at the
intermediate-bright range of luminosity (). The photometric information provided
by these surveys suggests that our samples are dominated by bright,
Lya-emitting Active Galactic Nuclei. At
erg\,s, we fit our Lya LF to a power-law with slope . We
also fit a Schechter function to our data, obtaining: Log(\Phi^* /
\text{Mpc^{-3}})=-6.30^{+0.48}_{-0.70}, Log, . Overall, our
results confirm the presence of an AGN component at the bright-end of the Lya
LF. In particular, we find no significant contribution of star-forming LAEs to
the Lya LF at Log / erg\,s)>43.5. This work serves as a
proof-of-concept for the results that can be obtained with the upcoming data

El Proyecto “Campus Accesible, Campus Igualitario” del Vicerrectorado de Campus y Sostenibilidad, la Unidad de Igualdad y el Vicerrectorado de Estudiantes, articulado sobre el trípode que lo vincula a la innovación docente, la investigación y la acción transformadora, en su segundo año de andadura, ha trabajado en tres líneas: por un lado, dando continuidad (y, con ella, sentido) a las acciones emprendidas el curso pasado; por otro, revisando con espíritu crítico tanto los datos como las experiencias recabadas para reinterpretarlos a la luz de nuevos contextos y nuevas posibilidades; y, finalmente, asumiendo el reto que se lanza al Secretariado de Desarrollo de Campus desde el 2ª Plan de Igualdad de Oportunidades entre Mujeres y Hombres de la Universidad de Alicante, 2014-2016, en el Objetivo 2, Incorporar la perspectiva de género en los procesos de planificación y gestión de la actividad deportiva ofertada por la UA, Acción 14, Introducir la perspectiva de género en el diseño y uso de espacios en las instalaciones deportivas. Con este fin, se ha diagnosticado tanto el espacio del Campus en su conjunto como su zona deportiva y se han sentado las bases teóricas para la confección de un sondeo de opinión entre la comunidad universitaria
