    Magnetic properties of Fe/Dy multilayers: a Monte Carlo investigation

    We investigate the magnetic properties of a Heisenberg ferrimagnetic multilayer by using Monte Carlo simulations. The aim of this work is to study the local structural anisotropy model which is a possible origin of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in transition metal/rare earth amorphous multilayers. We have considered a face centered cubic lattice where each site is occupied by a classical Heisenberg spin. We have introduced in our model of amorphous multilayers a small fraction of crystallized Fe-Dy nanoclusters with a mean anisotropy axis along the deposition direction. We show that a competition in the energy terms takes place between the mean uniaxial anisotropy of the Dy atoms in the nanoclusters and the random anisotropy of the Dy atoms in the matrix.Comment: accepte pour publication - Proceeding of the Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS 06) - Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Material

    By Monte Carlo simulations in the canonical ensemble, we have studied the magnetic anisotropy in Fe/Dy amorphous multilayers. This work has been motivated by experimental results which show a clear correlation between the magnetic perpendicular anisotropy and the substrate temperature during elaboration of the samples. Our aim is to relate macroscopic magnetic properties of the multilayers to their structure, more precisely their concentration profile. Our model is based on concentration dependent exchange interactions and spin values, on random magnetic anisotropy and on the existence of locally ordered clusters that leads to a perpendicular magnetisation. Our results evidence that a compensation point occurs in the case of an abrupt concentration profile. Moreover, an increase of the noncollinearity of the atomic moments has been evidenced when the Dy anisotropy constant value grows. We have also shown the existence of inhomogeneous magnetisation profiles along the samples which are related to the concentration profiles

    Observation of the lowest energy gamma-ray in any superdeformed nucleus : 196Bi

    New results on the superdeformed 196^{196}Bi nucleus a re reported. We have observed with the EUROBALL IV γ\gamma-ray spectrometer array a superdeformed trans ition of 124 keV which is the lowest observed energy γ\gamma-ray in any superdeformed nucleus. We have de velopped microscopic cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations using the SLy4 effective force and a realistic surface p airing which strongly support the Kπ=2K^\pi=2^-(π\pi[651]1/2ν\otimes \nu[752]5/2) assignment of this su perdeformed band

    Fully differential cross sections for photo-double-ionization of D2

    We report the first kinematically complete study of the four-body fragmentation of the D2 molecule following absorption of a single photon. For equal energy sharing of the two electrons and a photon energy of 75.5 eV, we observed the relaxation of one of the selection rules valid for He photo-double-ionization and a strong dependence of the electron angular distribution on the orientation of the molecular axis. This effect is reproduced by a model in which a pair of photoionization amplitudes is introduced for the light polarization parallel and perpendicular to the molecular axis

    State Selective Scattering Angle Dependent Capture Cross Sections Measured by Cold Target Recoil Ion Momentum Spectroscopy

    We have developed a new kind of recoil ion momentum spectroscopy technique, using a precooled supersonic gas jet target, to determine state selective, scattering angle dependent cross sections for swift ion-atom collisions ( 0. 25 , ..., , 1 MeV He2+ on He), by measuring the transverse and longitudinal momentum of the recoil ion. A longitudinal momentum resolution of ± 0.13 a. u. was achieved, about a factor of 30 better than ever obtained before, which enables a clear separation of K and L shell capture. In the transverse direction a resolution corresponding to a projectile scattering angle uncertainty of Δ ϑ P = ±1 μ rad was obtained

    Spätestens seit den gesellschaftlichen Modernisierungsschüben in den sechziger Jahren identifiziert auch die Germanistik Erkenntnis- und Wissenszuwachs, ja allgemeiner den "Fortschritt" ihres Fachs, mit Komplexitätserhöhung. Vor diesem Hintergrund erscheint es mir wenig plausibel, die seitdem erfolgten inneren Ausdifferenzierungen und interdisziplinären Grenzüberschreitungen als durch Identitätsverlust, Zerstreuung und Desintegration gekennzeichnete Niedergangsszenarien zu beschreiben. Die Veränderungen gehorchen der immanenten Logik germanistischer Forschung, einer "disziplinierten", auf Leistung ausgerichteten, an kooperativen Großforschungsvorhaben partizipierenden Wissensproduktion

    Plant-plant competition influences temporal dynamism of soil microbial enzyme activity.

    Root-derived compounds can change rates of soil organic matter decomposition (rhizosphere priming effects) through microbial production of extracellular enzymes. Such soil priming can be affected by plant identity and soil nutrient status. However, the effect of plant-plant competition on the temporal dynamics of soil organic matter turnover processes is not well understood. This study used zymography to detect the spatial and temporal pattern of cellulase and leucine aminopeptidase activity, two enzyme classes involved in soil organic matter turnover. The effect of plant-plant competition on enzyme activity was examined using barley (Hordeum vulgare) plants grown in i) isolation, ii) intra- and iii) inter-cultivar competition. The enzyme activities of leucine aminopeptidase and cellulase were measured from portions of the root system at 18, 25 and 33 days after planting, both along the root axis and in the root associated area with detectable enzyme activity. The activities of cellulase and leucine aminopeptidase were both strongly associated with plant roots, and increased over time. An increase in the area of cellulase activity around roots was delayed when plants were in competition compared to in isolation. A similar response was found for leucine aminopeptidase activity, but only when in intra-cultivar competition, and not when in inter-cultivar competition. Therefore, plant-plant competition had a differential effect on enzyme classes, which was potentially mediated through root exudate composition. This study demonstrates the influence of plant-plant competition on soil microbial activity and provides a potential mechanism by which temporal dynamism in plant resource capture can be mediated

    Mídias Sociais e Administração Pública: Análise do sentimento social perante a atuação do governo federal brasileiro

    Este estudo procurou identificar como a análise de sentimento, baseada em textos extraídos de mídias sociais, pode ser um instrumento de mensuração da opinião pública sobre a atuação do governo de forma a contribuir para a avaliação da administração pública. Trata-se de um estudo aplicado, interdisciplinar, exploratório, qualitativo e quantitativo. Foram revisadas as principais formulações teóricas e conceituais acerca do tema e realizadas demonstrações práticas, utilizando-se uma ferramenta de mineração de opinião que proporcionou precisão satisfatória no processamento de dados. Para fins de demonstração, foram selecionados temas que motivaram a realização da onda de protestos que envolveu milhões de pessoas no Brasil em junho de 2013. Foram coletadas, processadas e analisadas, aproximadamente, 130.000 mensagens postadas no Facebook e no Twitter sobre esses temas em dois períodos distintos. Por meio desta investigação, observou-se que a análise de sentimento pode revelar a opinião polarizada dos cidadãos quanto à atuação do governo
