Positioning And Design Recommendations For Materials Of Efficient Thermal Storage Mass In Passive Buildings

The role of mass in energy storage has long been a subject of interest in passive buildings. Thermal mass is used to diminish temperature variations for interior spaces in desert or semi- desert climates. Energy from solar and internal gains during the day in winter is often greater than daytime heating requirements. This energy can be stored in materials within the building, and released at night to offset building heat loss. In a similar manner, building mass may allow the interior to remain cooler during the daytime in summer and reduce air conditioning requirements. In this paper, the geometric and energetic positioning of thermal mass has been studied in order to determine most convenient locations. It is found that floors receive direct solar energy for a high percentage of time, usually 70%-90% of the radiation transmitted through the window during the day (9 am to 3 pm solar time). The materials related to the technical efficiency of thermal mass are reviewed specifying the thickness most suitable for storing solar heat in the winter or keeping the interior cool in summer.Fil: Esteves, Alfredo. Análisis de trayectoria del capital intelectual en una universidad pública mexicana

Si bien el conocimiento contribuye a la creación del capital intelectual y existen estudios para medirlo en universidades europeas, es poco lo que al respecto se ha generado en México. El objetivo de este trabajo es proponer un modelo construido a partir de un análisis de trayectorias sobre el capital intelectual de una universidad pública mexicana, con la finalidad de demostrar que el elemento que más influye es el capital humano dedicado a la docencia. Se revisaron investigaciones previas, se observaron las correlaciones entre los componentes del capital intelectual y se elaboró el modelo. Se obtuvo evidencia para determinar que el capital humano dedicado a la docencia influye sobre el capital humano dedicado a la investigación, así como sobre el capital estructural y en menor grado sobre el capital relacional

One Year Effects of Rock Steady Boxing Exercise in Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease resulting in physical function decline. Exercise slows the progression of PD. Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) is a high-intensity, non-contact boxing program designed for people with PD. While it is typically ideal to obtain measurable improvements upon starting an exercise regimen, due to the progressive nature of PD and ensuing decline in function, maintenance is a primary goal in this population. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine whether an RSB program maintains physical function in people with PD. METHODS: Eighteen people with PD (Hoehn-Yahr levels 1-4, ages 65-83) completed tests of physical function prior to starting the RSB program and were tested again after one year of participation. Tests included the 9-hole peg test, grip strength, timed up and go, 10-meter walk, number of steps during the 10-meter walk, and 5 times sit to stand. Participants attended two or three RSB classes per week for the duration of one year. RESULTS: After one year of participating in the RSB program, there were no significant changes in any tests (p\u3e.1) which measured upper extremity strength, dexterity, balance, lower extremity strength and endurance. CONCLUSION: Participation in RSB exercise may contribute to the maintenance of physical function in people with PD

El capital intelectual en la Universidad Pública

La aportación de la universidad como creadora y difusora del conocimiento es inminente. Gracias a las investigaciones que allí se realizan, así como al cumplimiento de su misión, formar investigadores y profesionistas, algunos países, sobre todo los más desarrollados, han logrado mayores niveles de competitividad y bienestar para su población. En México las universidades públicas tienen un papel fundamental, prueba de ello es el reconocimiento que el Gobierno Federal otorga a su quehacer como fuerte apoyo para el cambio estructural anhelado por nuestro país al incrementar su nivel de competitividad por el camino de la investigación y la formación de capital humano altamente especializado. Ante este panorama, las universidades públicas mexicanas deben cumplir fehacientemente su misión como formadoras y forjadoras de personal calificado para la empresa, sector público, organizaciones no gubernamentales y demás instituciones de educación; pero, al mismo tiempo impulsar la investigación científica y desarrollo tecnológico, así como la difusión de la cultura y la promoción del deporte, elementos fundamentales para vivir en una sociedad más justa, equitativa e incluyente.Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Méxic

Evaluacion del proceso de inventario en hotel Selva Negra, Matagalpa, para su atomatizacion durante el primer semestre 2017

El presente trabajo investigativo consiste en la evaluación del proceso de control de inventario en Hotel Selva Negra Matagalpa, durante el primer semestre 2017, para ello se analizaron las diferentes actividades como compras, abastecimientos a las áreas, evaluación de inventario y generación de reportes. Para realizar esta investigación se aplicó el enfoque cuantitativo con elementos cualitativos debido a que se trata de describir el proceso de inventario para posteriormente analizarlas, el alcance es descriptivo, el diseño es no experimental debido a que las variables se describen tal y como es, el universo de estudio es el Hotel Selva Negra, debido al tamaño de la población no se determinó muestra. Mediante este estudio se encontraron dificultades para controlar el inventario por lo cual se presentaron propuestas informáticas para mejorar los procesos y registrarlos de manera eficiente. A través de la aplicación de criterios de factibilidades y el uso del criterio estándar ISO 9126 para evaluar las diferentes herramientas tecnológicas que den solución a las problemáticas encontradas, se determinó que la mejor alternativa es la implementación de un software de escritorio desarrollado a la medida entida

The fracking debate in the media: the role of citizen platforms as sources of information

This article focusses on the analysis of the news coverage of fracking in the seven daily national Spanish newspapers in 2012. The results of the analysis of the 246 news items, based on the theory of framing, have demonstrated that the debate in the Spanish press also focusses on the concept of risks versus benefits. The environmental threat stands out as a result of the large number of actors, appearing as sources in the news items that are against the technique of fracking. Regional politicians and anti-fracking platforms lead the public debate, forming a negative opinion of this technique in Spain

Some insights for a relationship marketing model integrating SERVQUAL and customer loyalty in dental clinics

The demand of new services, the emergence of new business models, insufficient innovation, underestimation of customer loyalty and reluctance to adopt new management are evidence of the deficiencies and the lack of research about the relations between patients and dental clinics. In this article we propose the structure of a model of Relationship Marketing (RM) in the dental clinic that integrates information from SERVQUAL, Customer Loyalty (CL) and activities of RM and combines the vision of dentist and patient. The first pilot study on dentists showed that: they recognize the value of maintaining better patients however they don't perform RM actions to retain them. They have databases of patients but not sophisticated enough as compared to RM tools. They perceive that the patients value "Assurance" and "Empathy" (two dimensions of service quality). Finally, they indicate that a loyal patient not necessarily pays more by the service. The proposed model will be validated using Fuzzy Logic simulation and the ultimate goal of this research line is contributing a new definition of CL

Energy conservation and solar energy use for cooking impact of its massive adoption in the arid zone of Argentina

The use of solar energy is essential in transforming today's human environments into tomorrow's sustainable human habitats. This paper presents the positive impacts produced by the adoption of energy-efficient cooking equipment-using heat retention box cookers and the solar drum ovens-in the arid zone of Argentine. These solar cooking technologies improve the quality of life for local populations and, at the same time, save energy, time and effort in trying to obtain firewood. They minimize serious health problems associated with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions control. The study documental in this paper demonstrates that usage of these technologies results in the saving of 65.7% of Liquefied Petroleum Gas and 63.8% of Firewood utilized in Argentina's rural and arid zone. These results indicate that, if 50% of the arid zone population were to adopt these technologies, a reduction of 3.09KgCO2e of greenhouse gases per capita from 2015 to 2050 is possible.Fil: Esteves Miramont, Alfredo. Autoconcepto y conducta social en los estudiantes del nivel secundario de una institución educativa estatal en la ciudad de Trujillo

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo relacionar el autoconcepto y la conducta social en estudiantes del nivel secundario de una institución educativa estatal de Trujillo. Para ello se consideró una población de 190, cuya muestra fue de 148, en una investigación descriptiva correlacional. Se concluyó que los estudiantes presentan un buen Autoconcepto general (39%); asimismo en relación a la conducta social se relacionan adecuadamente con su entorno, adaptándose a las normas, valores y creencias de su sistema; se aprecia también que existe una relación significativa entre el Autoconcepto y la Conducta Social en los estudiantes de secundaria, indicando que la percepción que tienen sobre sus habilidades, capacidades y creencias, se relaciona con la manera de actuar frente a sus pares o figuras significativas.  This study aimed to relate the self-concept and social behavior among students at the secondary level of a state educational institution of Trujillo. This requires a population of 190, whose sample was 148, in a descriptive correlational research was considered. It was concluded that students have a good general Autoconcepto (39%); also in relation to social behavior properly they relate to their environment, adapting to the norms, values and beliefs of your system; It is also seen that there is a significant relationship between selfconcept and social behavior in high school students, indicating that the perception of their skills, abilities and beliefs, is related to how to act against their peers or significant figures.
