The aim of the present study was to observe if there are differences in the level of the burnout dimensions between teachers who have experienced symptoms or health problems in the last year and those who have not  in a sample of 223 teachers working in educational institutions (elementary school level). Participants completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) in its teachers’ version, and a sociodemographic survey. A two –independent t test was carried out in order to see if both groups of teachers differed significantly in the values obtained for the MBI dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and lack of personal accomplishment). The results of the t test showed significant differences between the groups of teachers, specifically in the dimensions of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, showing higher values in the group of teachers who reported suffering from symptoms or health problems in the last 12 months.

Does the ‘Mountain Pasture Product’ claim affect local cheese acceptability?

This paper aims to explore the impact of “mountain pasture product” information on the acceptability of local protected designation of origin (PDO) cheese produced from the raw milk of cows grazing in mountain pastures (P) or reared in valley floor stalls (S). A total of 156 consumers (55% males, mean age 41 years) were asked to evaluate their overall liking on a 9-point hedonic scale of four samples: Cheeses P and S were presented twice with different information about the origin of the milk (cows grazing on mountain pasture or reared in a valley floor stall). Demographics, consumer habits, and opinions on mountain pasture practice (MPP), attitudes towards sustainability, and food-related behaviours (i.e., diet, food waste production, organic food, and zero food miles products purchase) were recorded and used to segment consumers. The cheeses were all considered more than acceptable, even though they were found to be significantly different in colour and texture by instrumental analyses. In the whole consumer panel, the cheese P was preferred, while in consumer segments less attentive to product characteristics, this effect was not significant. External information had a strong effect: Overall liking was significantly higher in cheeses presented as “mountain pasture product”, both in the whole panel and in consumer segments with different attitudes (except for those with a low opinion of MPP

[Ag(PcL)]-Catalysed Domino Approach to 6-Substituted Benzoxazino Isoquinolines

In this paper, we describe a new silver catalysed domino approach to 6-substituted benzoxazino isoquinolines starting from 2-alkynylbenzaldehydes and 1-substituted-(2-aminophenyl)methanols. The strategy is characterized by good reaction yields, and can be performed at room temperature as well as under heating (conventional or dielectric) in different reaction times. Best results have been obtained by using silver complexes of macrocyclic pyridine-containing ligands (PcL) as catalysts. The stereoselectivity of the transformation has been investigated by using chiral reaction partners and chiral catalyst, but unfortunately, modest stereoselectivities has been achieved. On the other hand, this approach represents an alternative synthetic strategy for the preparation of 6-substituted benzoxazino isoquinolines, which are the key scaffold of some compounds endowed of biological activity

The potential role of MR based radiomic biomarkers in the characterization of focal testicular lesions

How to differentiate with MRI-based techniques testicular germ (TGCTs) and testicular non-germ cell tumors (TNGCTs) is still under debate and Radiomics may be the turning key. Our purpose is to investigate the performance of MRI-based Radiomics signatures for the preoperative prediction of testicular neoplasm histology. The aim is twofold: (i), differentiating TGCTs and TNGCTs status and (ii) differentiating seminomas (SGCTs) from non-seminomatous (NSGCTs). Forty-two patients with pathology-proven testicular neoplasms and referred for pre-treatment MRI, were retrospectively enrolled. Thirty-two out of 44 lesions were TGCTs. Twelve out of 44 were TNGCTs or other histologies. Two radiologists segmented the volume of interest on T2-weighted images. Approximately 500 imaging features were extracted. Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) was applied as method for variable selection. A linear model and a linear support vector machine (SVM) were trained with selected features to assess discrimination scores for the two endpoints. LASSO identified 3 features that were employed to build fivefold validated linear discriminant and linear SVM classifiers for the TGCT-TNGCT endpoint giving an overall accuracy of 89%. Four features were employed to build another SVM for the SGCT-SNGCT endpoint with an overall accuracy of 86%. The data obtained proved that T2-weighted-based Radiomics is a promising tool in the diagnostic workup of testicular neoplasms by discriminating germ cell from non-gem cell tumors, and seminomas from non-seminomas
