Generalized inverses of a sum in rings

We give expressions for generalized inverses of 1 − ba in terms of generalized inverses of 1 − ab. An electro-rheological study of the nematic liquid crystal 4-n-heptyl-4'-cyanobiphenyl

An experimental and theoretical study of the electro-rheological effects observed in the nematic phase of 4-n-heptyl-4'-cyanobiphenyl has been conducted. This liquid crystal appears to be a model system, in which the observed rheological behaviour can be interpreted by the Leslie-Ericksen continuum theory for low molecular weight liquid crystals. Flow curves are illustrated at different temperatures and under the influence of an external electric field ranging from 0 to 3 kV mm-1, applied perpendicular to the direction of flow. Also presented is the apparent viscosity as a function of temperature, over similar values of electric field, obtained at different shear rates. A master flow curve has been constructed for each temperature by dividing the shear rate by the square of the electric field and multiplying by the square of a reference value of electric field. In a log-log plot, two Newtonian plateaux are found to appear at low and high shear rates, connected by a shear-thinning region. We have applied the Leslie-Ericksen continuum theory, in which the director alignment angle is a function of the electric field and the flow field boundary conditions are neglected, to determine viscoelastic parameters and the dielectric anisotropy

Physical Activity, Seasonal Sensitivity and Psychological Well-Being of People of Different Age Groups Living in Extreme Environments

Physical activity can prevent many organic and mental pathologies. For people living in extreme southern high-latitude environments, weather conditions can affect these activities, altering their psychological well-being and favoring the prevalence of seasonal sensitivity (SS). This study aims to determine the relationships between the practice of physical activity, seasonal sensitivity and well-being in people living in high southern latitudes. A cross-sectional study was conducted, using the Seasonal Pattern Assessment Questionnaire (SPAQ), applying a psychological well-being scale, and determining sports practice according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the 370 male (n = 209; 55%) and female (n = 173; 45%) participants. The main results indicated that 194 people (52 ± 7.7 years) reported physical activity. High-intensity physical activity practitioners recorded a significantly lower proportion of SS. In terms of psychological well-being, an adverse effect was found between the Seasonal Score Index (SSI) and five subcategories of the Ryff well-being scale. In conclusion, those who perform high-intensity physical activity have a lower SS, and those who have a higher SS have a lower psychological well-being

A decade of theory as reflected in Psychological Science (2009–2019)

The dominant belief is that science progresses by testing theories and moving towards theoretical consensus. While it’s implicitly assumed that psychology operates in this manner, critical discussions claim that the field suffers from a lack of cumulative theory. To examine this paradox, we analysed research published in Psychological Science from 2009–2019 (N = 2,225). We found mention of 359 theories in-text, most were referred to only once. Only 53.66% of all manuscripts included the word theory, and only 15.33% explicitly claimed to test predictions derived from theories. We interpret this to suggest that the majority of research published in this flagship journal is not driven by theory, nor can it be contributing to cumulative theory building. These data provide insight into the kinds of research psychologists are conducting and raises questions about the role of theory in the psychological sciences

Elaboración y desarrollo de video educativo en salud “Conociendo la gastrostomía”

O presente artigo tem como objetivo descrever a criação e o desenvolvimento de um vídeo educativo em saúde elaborado em plataforma digital a fim de contribuir para a educação em saúde sobre a gastrostomia. Considerando que a educação em saúde são saberes destinados ao desenvolvimento humano, o vídeo educativo caracteriza-se como produto de apoio e suporte com fins didáticos na mediação do processo de ensino e aprendizagem em diferentes contextos educacionais. Foram avaliadas seis plataformas, Moravi, Promo-Brazil, Animoto.com, Sparkol, Doodly.com e VideoScrib. Selecionamos a plataforma VideoScribe para execução do projeto. Desejamos que este produto venha contribuir para a educação em saúde a respeito da temática, contribuindo para a melhoria da qualidade de vida dos pacientesThis article aims to describe the creation and development of a health educational video prepared on a digital platform in order to contribute to health education on gastrostomy. Considering that health education is knowledge intended for human development, the educational video is characterized as a support product with didactic purposes in the mediation of the teaching and learning process in different educational contexts. Six platforms were evaluated, Moravi, Promo-Brazil, Animoto.com, Sparkol, Doodly.com and VideoScrib. We selected the VideoScribe platform to execute the project. IMPACTOS PSÍQUICOS SOCIAIS OCASIONADOS PELO TRAUMA NA QUALIDADE DE VIDA DE UM PACIENTE POLITRAUMATIZADO: ESTUDO DE CASO

O trauma tem se tornado um grave problema de saúde pública sendo a principal causa de morte e incapacidades em indivíduos jovens no mundo inteiro

Uso de babosa (aloe vera l.) como pró – cicatrizante em diferentes formas farmacêuticas: uma revisão integrativa

Introdução: aloe vera é uma planta medicinal que apresenta diversas propriedades biológicas, dentre elas atividade cicatrizante.Objetivo: realizar uma revisão de literatura com o intuito de observar a atividade pró-cicatrizante de A. vera em diferentes formasfarmacêuticas. Metodologia: trata-se de uma revisão de literatura do tipo integrativa, realizada nas bases de dados Lilacs e SciElo.Resultados: dentre os 115 estudos encontrados, somente 7 artigos, publicados entre os anos de 1999 a 2018, foram utilizados paraa construção dos resultados. A. vera apresentou atividade cicatrizante em modelos humanos e animais, sendo a forma farmacêuticagel a mais utilizada (42,8%), seguida de extratos (28,6%). A atividade cicatrizante pode estar associada a presença de polissacarídeosque atuam diretamente sobre fibroblastos contribuindo para o processo de cicatrização. Conclusão: a. vera em géis, extratos,unguento e nanopartículas demonstrou apresentar não somente atividade cicatrizante, mas também relacionada a inibição deprocessos inflamatórios
