Personalized Web Search Using Browsing History and Domain Knowledge Based on Enhanced User Profile

    Get PDF
Generic search engines are important for retrieving relevant information from web. However these engines follow the "one size fits all" model which is not adaptable to individual users. Personalized web search is an important field for tuning the traditional IR system for focused information retrieval. This paper is an attempt to improve personalized web search. User's Profile provides an important input for performing personalized web search. This paper proposes a framework for constructing an Enhanced User Profile by using user's browsing history and enriching it using domain knowledge. This Enhanced User Profile can be used for improving the performance of personalized web search. In this paper we have used the Enhanced User Profile specifically for suggesting relevant pages to the user. The experimental results show that the suggestions provided to the user using Enhanced User Profile ae better than those obtained by using a User Profile

Deployment of Mobile Ad-hoc Network Ticket Based QoS Routing Protocol for Healthcare

A Mobile Adhoc Network comprises of set of portable hosts which are equipped for corresponding with one another with no aid of base stations. MANET are quick evolving topology, broad exploration is going ahead to outline directing conventions for MANETs. The Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector convention concerns with most limited way steering and changing the courses powerfully in work space. Quality of Service (QoS) prerequisite issues are less tended to in MANETs and the motivation behind this paper is to address QoS directing in a MANET domain and concentrate principally on ticket based QoS steering convention to figure out course fulfilling certain data transmission and delay obliges. The essential thought is to utilize tickets to keep the quantity of route searching packets to abstain from flooding and to make courses progressively to accomplish proficient Quality of Service

This paper examines the effectiveness of the Google Classroom App in learning for higher education institutions in Oman. The massive advancement in technology has contributed to changes in learning and delivery of learning resources in the classroom. Thus, it has saved the resources and reduced the cost of learning associated with the traditional learning model. The main goal of this paper is to investigate the students' perception about the cloud computing services accessibility, ease of use and usefulness by measuring the implementation effectiveness of Google Classroom as a mode of teaching. This study used quantitative approach mode to determine the effectiveness and the effect of using Google Classroom e-learning model, 225 completed questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS tool. Its evident that using Google Classroom for the learning is more effective and gained highest level of satisfaction among the learners. As a general result of this work students can use Google classroom in very comfortable and easy way really on the ability of online, remote, and time unconstrained conditions. The students also like to learn through the lecturer with the support of google classroom

COVID-19 Is Associated With a 4 Fold Increase in 30-day Mortality Risk in Hip Fracture Patients in the United Kingdom: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Background: Hip fracture in elderly patients is associated with a significant mortality which may be worsened by COVID-19 infection. Objective: To undertake a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies assessing the effect of COVID-19 infection and mortality rates in hip fracture patients in the United Kingdom (UK) during the first surge of the pandemic. Design: A systematic literature search of 9 online databases was undertaken independently by 2 reviewers using the Cochrane methodology for systematic reviews. Eligibility criteria were any study of an adult population with a hip fracture that assessed the relationship between COVID-19 infection and 30-day mortality in the UK. Meta-analysis was conducted using a random-effects model. Results: Out of 309 identified articles, 10 studies reporting on 2448 hip fracture patients met the inclusion criteria. Meta-analysis showed that the estimated mortality rate in patients with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 infection was 32.5% (95% CI= 28.3 to 37.0) compared to 8.6% (95% CI= 6.3 to 11.6) in COVID-19 negative patients. Meta-analysis of 9 comparative studies showed a significantly higher mortality in patients with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 infection as compared to patients without (RR=3.937, 95% CI= 2.867 to 5.406, P<.001). Similar findings were obtained when comparing mortality in COVID-19 laboratory confirmed or clinically suspected infected vs non-infected patients (RR=4.576, 95% CI = 3.589 to 5.835, P <.001). Conclusions: COVID-19 infection is associated with a 4-fold increase in mortality risk in hip fracture patients. Every effort should be made to avoid COVID-19 infection and nosocomial exposure in this highly vulnerable patient group

A Web-based Visual Simulator for Hospital Management Using Discrete Event Simulation

Access, demand and resource management issues in hospitals continue to plague the area of hospital management. Access is the capacity to provide patients with health care in a timely fashion, demand is a community’s need for health care satisfied by available health services and resource management is the use of various resources available to hospitals for managing them. Problems in these three areas lead to long waits in emergency, prolonged periods for patients on procedural waiting lists and cancellation of surgical operations. To support hospital managers in effective management of a hospital, managers require software that presents them with necessary information about resources, such as beds available for patients in emergency. This study presents a new Web-based visual solution to the abovementioned problems using discrete event simulation. This system builds on our previous work where simulations are generated using a Web site, but the Web site generates an enormous quantity of data as output. This output needs to be processed in a very short amount of time (given managers need for quick access to information) and displayed in visual manner for easy use and interpretation by managers. Our software solution is absolutely novel as our earlier work on which the new solution is based was also novel as a solution for hospital managers

Agriculture sector in India is contributing to Indian economy to around 15 to 20 % when data of last five year is considered. The products cultivated from this sector are mainly affected by the processing for preservation. The developing countries of the world are lacking with facilities in agriculture sector and there are several factors affecting agriculture. In India near about 50% people are directly or indirectly associated with agriculture sector through farming and associated byproduct manufacturing. Agricultural application of solar dryer is used widely in developed countries to preserve the vegetable. The preservation of many products from agriculture is possible with solar dryers. The solar energy is available in India in abundant amount. Use of solar energy for drying the product will be very economic. Authors have presented the design of solar dryer in this paper
