TOI-2046b, TOI-1181b, and TOI-1516b, three new hot Jupiters from TESS: planets orbiting a young star, a subgiant, and a normal star
We present the confirmation and characterization of three hot Jupiters, TOI-1181b, TOI-1516b, and TOI-2046b, discovered by the TESS space mission. The reported hot Jupiters have orbital periods between 1.4 and 2.05 d. The masses of the three planets are 1.18 ± 0.14 MJ, 3.16 ± 0.12âMJ, and 2.30 ± 0.28 MJ, for TOI-1181b, TOI-1516b, and TOI-2046b, respectively. The stellar host of TOI-1181b is a F9IV star, whereas TOI-1516b and TOI-2046b orbit F main sequence host stars. The ages of the first two systems are in the range of 2â5 Gyrs. However, TOI-2046 is among the few youngest known planetary systems hosting a hot Jupiter, with an age estimate of 100â400 Myrs. The main instruments used for the radial velocity follow-up of these three planets are located at OndĆejov, Tautenburg, and McDonald Observatory, and all three are mounted on 2â3 m aperture telescopes, demonstrating that mid-aperture telescope networks can play a substantial role in the follow-up of gas giants discovered by TESS and in the future by PLATO
Prolyl hydroxylase 2 inactivation enhances glycogen storage and promotes excessive neutrophilic responses.
Fully activated innate immune cells are required for effective responses to infection, but their prompt deactivation and removal are essential for limiting tissue damage. Here, we have identified a critical role for the prolyl hydroxylase enzyme Phd2 in maintaining the balance between appropriate, predominantly neutrophil-mediated pathogen clearance and resolution of the innate immune response. We demonstrate that myeloid-specific loss of Phd2 resulted in an exaggerated inflammatory response to Streptococcus pneumonia, with increases in neutrophil motility, functional capacity, and survival. These enhanced neutrophil responses were dependent upon increases in glycolytic flux and glycogen stores. Systemic administration of a HIF-prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor replicated the Phd2-deficient phenotype of delayed inflammation resolution. Together, these data identify Phd2 as the dominant HIF-hydroxylase in neutrophils under normoxic conditions and link intrinsic regulation of glycolysis and glycogen stores to the resolution of neutrophil-mediated inflammatory responses. These results demonstrate the therapeutic potential of targeting metabolic pathways in the treatment of inflammatory disease. This work was principally supported by a Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical Fellowship award (098516 to SRW), Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Training Fellowship awards (G0802255 to AART; MR/K023845/1 to RSD), an Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS) starter grant (to AART), a Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical Fellowship award (076945 to DHD), British Lung Foundation Fellowship (F05/7 to HMM), and a Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and Medical Research Council grant (EP/L016559/1, JAW). The reference site collaborative network of the european innovation partnership on active and healthy ageing
Seventy four Reference Sites of the European Innovation
Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA)
have been recognised by the European Commission in
2016 for their commitment to excellence in investing and
scaling up innovative solutions for active and healthy
ageing. The Reference Site Collaborative Network
(RSCN) brings together the EIP on AHA Reference Sites
awarded by the European Commission, and Candidate
Reference Sites into a single forum. The overarching goals
are to promote cooperation, share and transfer good
practice and solutions in the development and scaling up
of health and care strategies, policies and service delivery
models, while at the same time supporting the action
groups in their work. The RSCN aspires to be recognized
by the EU Commission as the principal forum and
authority representing all EIP on AHA Reference Sites.
The RSCN will contribute to achieve the goals of the EIP
on AHA by improving health and care outcomes for
citizens across Europe, and the development of sustainable
economic growth and the creation of jobs

IMPORTANCE: Little is known about the long-term economic and social outcomes for children with longitudinally assessed comorbid externalizing and internalizing symptoms, especially compared with children with externalizing symptoms or internalizing symptoms only. OBJECTIVE: To examine the association between childhood trajectories of externalizing, internalizing, and comorbid symptoms and long-term economic and social outcomes. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: A 32-year prospective cohort study linked with administrative data was conducted in school-aged participants aged 6 to 12 years in the QuĂ©bec Longitudinal Study of Kindergarten Children (Nâ=â3017) followed up from 1985 to 2017. Data analysis was conducted between August 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022. EXPOSURES: Teacher-rated behavioral symptoms were used to categorize children from age 6 to 12 years into developmental profiles using group-based trajectory modeling. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES: Multivariable regression models were used to test the association between childhood symptom profile group and adult employment earnings, welfare receipt, intimate partnership status, and having children living in the household. Participant sex, IQ, and socioeconomic background were adjusted for. RESULTS: Of 3017 participants in this sample, 1594 (52.8%) were male and 1423 (47.2%) were female. Per confidentiality rules established by Statistics Canada, income variables were rounded to base 100 and count variables were rounded to base 10; the mean (SD) age was 37 (0.29) years at follow-up. Four symptom profiles were identified: no/low (nâ=â1369 [45.4%]), high externalizing (882 [29.2%]), high internalizing (354 [11.7%]), and comorbid (412 [13.7%]) symptoms. Compared with the no/low symptom profile, participants in the high externalizing-only profile earned 7988 to -8473 (95% CI, -5717) less per year, had a 2.07 (95% CI, 1.51-2.83) higher incidence of welfare receipt, and had a lower incidence of intimate partnership (incident rate ratio [IRR], 0.89; 95% CI, 0.80-0.99). Participants in the comorbid profile fared especially poorly: they earned 18âŻ030 to -140âŻ515 for the high externalizing, 357âŻ737 for the comorbid profiles. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: In this cohort study, children exhibiting sustained childhood high externalizing, high internalizing, or comorbid symptoms were at increased risk of poor economic and social outcomes into middle age. These findings suggest that children exhibiting comorbid problems were especially vulnerable and that early detection and support are indicated
Synthesis, Solid-state Structures, Solution Behaviour and Catalysis Studies of Nickel Complexes of Bis(benzimidazolin-2-ylidene)pyridine Pincer Ligands
N-Heterocyclic carbeneânickel complexes with five- and four-coordinate geometries [(CNC)NiBr2] and [(CNC)NiBr]X (X = PF6 or BPh4) have been prepared with the pincer ligands 2,6-bis(N-octylbenzimidazolin-2-ylidene)pyridine and 2,6-bis(N-butyl-5,6-dimethoxybenzimidazolin-2-ylidene)pyridine. The addition of the n-octyl substituent significantly extends the solubility of the complexes and has allowed UV-vis solution studies of the complexes in dichloromethane and methanol. The four- and five-coordinate species exist in equilibrium in solution and this equilibrium has been explored by UV-vis studies. The complexes have also been characterized by NMR studies, and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies have been performed on [(CNC)NiBr2] (where CNC = 2,6-bis(N-octylbenzimidazolin-2-ylidene)pyridine) and [(CNC)NiBr]BPh4 (where CNC = 2,6-bis(N-butyl-5,6-dimethoxybenzimidazolin-2-ylidene)pyridine)
