    Pengembangan Multimedia Pembelajaran Matematika Berbasis Quantum Learning pada Materi Segiempat dan Segitiga untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) proses dan hasil produk pengembangan multimedia pembelajaran matematika berbasis quantum learning, (2) kevalidan multimedia pembelajaran matematika, (3) kepraktisan multimedia pembelajaran matematika dan (4) efektivitas multimedia pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan produk tertentu yaitu multimedia pembelajaran matematika berbasis quantum learning. Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model ADDIE. Multimedia pembelajaran matematika akan digunakan oleh siswa kelas VII SMP Islam Al-Falah Jambi. Subjek penelitian yaitu 29 orang siswa kelas VII.5. Dalam penelitian pengembangan ini validasi ahli menyatakan multimedia telah valid dan layak diuji cobakan. Guru dan siswa memberikan respon positif dan menyatakan bahwa multimedia tersebut praktis dan layak diuji cobakan. Hasil penelitian diperoleh peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dalam kategori sedang yaitu berdasarkan Uji N-Gain terlihat bahwa skor yang diperoleh adalah 0,51 pada kriteria sedang, dan berdasarkan uji t dependent (Paired Sample t Test) diperoleh nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0.000 < 0.05 artinya terdapat perbedaan yang nyata pada kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan multimedia pembelajaran matematika berbasis quantum learning. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa multimedia pembelajaran matematika yang dikembangkan baik dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Oleh karena itu multimedia yang dikembangkan dapat digunakan oleh guru dalam proses pembelajaran pada materi segiempat dan segitiga untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis

    Mathematical problem-solving skills in learning physics is important. According to the preliminary study conducted at MTsN Jambi, it is known that the mathematical problem solving ability of students in learning physics still low. This study aims to improve the mathematical problem solving capability by applying the team assisted individualization and self-efficacy cooperative learning model. This study was experimental research by using questionnaire self-efficacy instrument and essay test. The population of this study was seventh grade students MTsN Jambi. Data analysis was performed by using two ways-ANOVA and Tukey test. The results shows that: (1) cooperative learning model of TAI influences to students' physical problem solving capability, (2) SE influences the students' physical problem solving capability, (3) there are differences in high SE students' physical problem solving capability by using cooperative learning model type TAI from those who using conventional learning models, (4) there are differences in low SE students' physical problem solving capability by using cooperative learning model TAI type than those using conventional learning model, (5) there is no interaction between the cooperative learning model of TAI and SE of students in MTsN Jambi

    The development of science and information technology has changed paradigm of learning from conventional (teacher – centered) to a learning based on information and communication technology (ICT). This shift affects the teacher roles from information resources and expert in conventional teaching into facilitator, guidance an organizer in multimedia based teaching. Therefore, teachers should be able to utilize and integrate ICT. So, teachers have to have knowledge, skills and able to implement ICT in the teaching of their subjects. The purposes of this research are to measure ICT knowledge, skill and its implementation in mathematics teaching and to identify factors and obstacles affecting math teachers use ICT in the classroom of senior high school in Tanjung Jabung Barat. The method of this research is quantitative research by using descriptive analysis. Data were collected using questionnaire of teachers knowledge, skill and implementation ICT. The research populations are mathematics teachers of senior high school in Tanjung Jabung Barat and all are as the sample of this research. This is because the total populations are relatively small. The result of this research showed that the levels of teacher's knowledge and implementation are both ‘low', while teacher skill is at ‘medium' level. From the background of respondents involving the status of civil servant, experience, gender, age and workshop or ICT course, it seems doesn't effect the teachers competence. The obstacles that affect teacher in using ICT for teaching is lack of ICT facilities at school

    Pengembangan E-LKPD Berkarakteristik Budaya Jambi Menggunakan Model Discovery Learning Berbasis STEM Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Matematis

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mendeskripsikan prosedur pengembangan dan hasil produk; 2) mengetahui penilaian guru dan respon siswa terhadap produk; serta 3) melihat ketercapaian peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa setelah menggunakan produk. Produk E-LKPD dikembangkan mengikuti kerangka model ADDIE dan diimplementasikan di SMPN 29 Tebo. Subjek penelitian adalah satu orang guru matematika, delapan orang siswa dalam uji coba satu-satu, serta 29 orang siswa dalam uji kelompok kecil. Validasi ahli menyatakan E-LKPD telah valid dan layak untuk diuji cobakan. Kemudian guru serta siswa dalam ujicoba satu-satu memberikan respon yang sangat positif dan menyatakan bahwa E-LKPD praktis dan layak diujikan ke kelompok kecil. Selanjutnya analisis hasil tes siswa dalam uji kelompok kecil menggunakan pedoman penskoran kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis diperoleh skor total tes awal sebesar 202 dan skor total tes akhir sebesar 562. Berdasarkan Uji N-Gain, diperoleh hasil bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan siswa dengan nilai sebesar 0,590164 berada pada kategori sedang. Sehingga dengan nilai ini maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa E-LKPD sudah efektif serta dapat digunakan oleh guru dan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran materi bangun ruang sisi lengkung untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis

    Towards Normalizing the Edit Distance Using a Genetic Algorithms Based Scheme

    The normalized edit distance is one of the distances derived from the edit distance. It is useful in some applications because it takes into account the lengths of the two strings compared. The normalized edit distance is not defined in terms of edit operations but rather in terms of the edit path. In this paper we propose a new derivative of the edit distance that also takes into consideration the lengths of the two strings, but the new distance is related directly to the edit distance. The particularity of the new distance is that it uses the genetic algorithms to set the values of the parameters it uses.     Criação e aplicação de um modelo baseado em Topic Maps à documentação educativa

    As políticas da União Europeia para a sociedade da informação estão a promover um modelo educativo baseado na aquisição de competências e na aprendizagem ao longo da vida. A eficácia da aprendizagem neste modelo educativo assenta numa educação digital, na qual os recursos digitais estruturam, organizam e representam o seu conteúdo de acordo com as suas potencialidades educativas. Descrevem-se os passos prosseguidos na aplicação da norma ISO/IEC 13250:2000 Topic Maps como escolha para a organização e representação do conhecimento de uso educativo, adaptando a recuperação deste tipo de informação a um modelo de aprendizagem centrado no educando, tal como as actuais políticas europeias promovem. Numa primeira parte apresenta-se a análise realizada sobre as várias metodologias para a representação do conhecimento: thesaurus, mapas conceptuais e ontologias. Discutem-se as características que levaram à selecção dos Topic Maps como a metodologia a ser utilizada neste projecto. Numa segunda parte, apresenta-se a norma ISO/IEC 13250:2000 Topic Maps e discute-se de que forma nos irá auxiliar a criar um ambiente de aprendizagem centrado no educando e utilizando os recursos educativos (objectos de ensino, artigos, monografias, teses, etc) disponíveis na Web. Por fim, numa terceira parte, apresenta-se uma arquitectura funcional capaz de suportar a metodologia seleccionada e o cenário de aplicação: especificação de mapas conceptuais orientados a programas educativos dinâmicos e que reagem às interacções dos educandos; agregação de conteúdos disponíveis na Web com o objectivo de criar um repositório de objectos de ensino (utilização do protocolo OAI-PMH); definição de estratégias para a população do mapa conceptual com os conteúdos recolhidos da Internet; exploração do repositório a partir do mapa conceptual. Em conclusão, iremos demonstrar que já é possível criar um ambiente com estas características utilizando vários componentes e tecnologias existentes mas, também, que é necessário fazer algum trabalho de integração e normalização.Policies of the European Information Society are to promote an educational model based on the acquisition of skills and lifelong learning. The effectiveness of learning in this educational model is based on a digital education, in which digital resources structure, organize and represent its content according to their educational potential. We describe the steps pursued in the implementation of ISO / IEC 13250:2000 Topic Maps as the selected methodology adopted for the organization and representation of knowledge of educational use, adapting the retrieval of such information to a student-centered learning model, as the current European policies promote. The first part presents the analysis on the various methodologies for the representation of knowledge: thesaurus, concept maps and ontologies. In the following we discuss the characteristics that led to the selection of Topic Maps as the methodology to be used in this project. The second part presents the ISO / IEC 13250:2000 Topic Maps, and discusses how it will help to create an environment focused on student learning through the use of educational resources (learning objects, articles, monographs, theses, etc.) available on the Web. Finally, a third part presents a functional architecture capable of supporting the selected methodology and the application scenario: specification of concept maps, oriented educational programs and dynamic interactions that respond to the students; content aggregation available on the Web in order to create a repository of learning objects (using OAI-PMH), strategies for the population of the conceptual map with the contents collected from the Internet, holding the repository from the conceptual map. In conclusion, we demonstrate that it is possible to create an environment with these features using several existing technologies and components, but also that some work for integration and standardization is needed

    The chemomechanics of crystallization during rewetting of limestone impregnated with sodium sulfate

    Breakdown of porous materials by salts occurs when growing crystals exert pressure on the pore walls, inducing stress in the material that exceeds its tensile strength. In this work, we quantify the mechanical stresses caused by a particularly destructive mechanism: the dissolution of an anhydrate (thenardite, Na2SO4) followed by precipitation of a hydrated salt (mirabilite, Na2SO4·10H2O). Stresses are measured using a composite specimen consisting of a plate of glass bonded to a plate of limestone (CaCO3) whose pores are impregnated with thenardite. As water wicks into the limestone, thenardite dissolves and mirabilite precipitates. The limestone expands from the pressure exerted by the salt resulting in deflection of the composite, and the stresses can be obtained from an elastic analysis. Synchrotron x-ray diffraction reveals the dissolution-crystallization rate. Numerical modeling shows that the stresses are affected by the kinetics of crystallization and dissolution, permeability, and mechanical properties of the stone, allowing us to determine the amount of salt that causes material fractur

    Human or Computer Assisted Interactive Transcription: Automated Text Recognition, Text Annotation, and Scholarly Edition in the Twenty-First Century

    Computer assisted transcription tools can speed up the initial process of reading and transcribing texts. At the same time, new annotation tools open new ways of accessing the text in its graphical form. The balance and value of each method still needs to be explored. STATE, a complete assisted transcription system for ancient documents, was presented to the audience of the 2013 International Medieval Congress at Leeds. The system offers a multimodal interaction environment to assist humans in transcribing ancient documents: the user can type, write on the screen with a stylus, or utter a word. When one of these actions is used to correct an erroneous word, the system uses this new information to look for other mistakes in the rest of the line. The system is modular, composed of different parts: one part creates projects from a set of images of documents, another part controls an automatic transcription system, and the third part allows the user to interact with the transcriptions and easily correct them as needed. This division of labour allows great flexibility for organising the work in a team of transcribers.Las herramientas de ayuda a la transcripción automática pueden acelerar el proceso inicial de la lectura y transcripción de textos. Al mismo tiempo, las nuevas herramientas de anotación aportan nuevas formas de acceder al texto en su forma original gráfica. Sin embargo, todavía es necesario evaluar las bondades y capacidades de los distintos métodos. STATE, un completo sistema de asistencia a la transcripción de documentos antiguos, se presentó a la audiencia del International Medieval Congress de 2013 celebrado en Leeds. El sistema ofrece un entorno de interacción multimodal para ayudar a las personas en la transcripción de documentos antiguos: el usuario puede teclear, escribir en la pantalla con un lápiz óptico o corregir usando la voz. Cada vez que el usuario cambia de esta forma una palabra, el sistema utiliza la corrección para buscar errores en el resto de la línea. El sistema está dividido en diferentes módulos: uno crea proyectos a partir de un conjunto de imágenes de documentos, otro módulo controla el sistema de transcripción automática, y un tercer módulo permite al usuario interactuar con las transcripciones y corregirlas fácilmente cuando sea necesario.
