The magazine Nueva Forma. Arquitectura, urbanismo, diseño, ambientes, arte. Madrid-Barcelona-Bilbao started publishing in Madrid in the Spanish Sixties. More than thirty articles on architecture and art done by different authors from the Basque Country and Navarre were published in their issues. Architects and artists of different generations saw their work published in several issues, such as José Manuel Aizpurúa, Teodoro Anasagasti, Víctor Eusa, Rafael Aburto, Luis Peña Ganchegui, Rafael Moneo, Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida and Nestor Basterretxea, who were originally from the Basque Country and Navarre. These architects and artist viewed their work contextualized and put in relation to international architectural and artistic trends. Therefore, four volumes analysed the urban planning and development of Bilbao. The pages of the magazine were a platform to alleviate the lack of collective feeling and criticism in the Basque Country and Navarre area in that time, essentially as a result of the absence of a school of architecture and the intermittent professional career of many of these outstanding individuals. Nueva Forma assumed the task of disseminating the work of those architects and artist as a commitment to culture. On the one hand, this dissemination allowed transmitting the architecture and artistic culture from this territory in the Spanish panorama, and especially in Madrid, where the magazine was published. On the other hand, the issues create a genealogy of outstanding names, which, as a consequence, gave form to a third relevant cultural area in Spain, different from and as important as the ones of Madrid and Barcelona. Keywords: Spanish modern architecture, Historiography of modern architecture, Architecture magazinesLa irrupción de la revista Nueva Forma. [ENG] Because of the astringent character of persimmon ‘rojo brillante’, application of high concentrations of CO2 treatment after harvest, previosly to storage, has been adopted by industry as astringency removal method keeping high fruit firmness. However, at some moments of the harvest season the application of this treatment after storage period could be interesting. In the present work we have studied the efectiveness of the astringency removal treatment (98% CO2, 20ºC, 24 h) applied to fruit after different periods at 15ºC, at 1ºC, as well as to fruit treated with 1 μl*l-1 1-MCP previosly to be stored at 1ºC. Analysis of those parametres relationed with astringency loss: solubles tannins, acetaldehyde production and sensory evaluation, when the treatment was applied after fruit storage at 1ºC, with or without 1-MCP application, showed that the treatment maintained its efectiveness for 40 days experiment duration. When deastringency treatment was applied after 20 days storage at 15ºC a loss of efectiveness was observed. This fact is supported by the soluble taninns values, acetaldehyde content and sensory evaluation

The diagnosis of feline haemoplasmosis has improved over the years, with several techniques enabling a clear and specific diagnosis, and where polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is considered as the 'gold standard'. The aim of this study was to survey the prevalence of feline haemoplasmas in 320 cats from the north-central region of Portugal by the use of real-time PCR, as well as to evaluate any associations between infection, clinical presentation and risk factors. The overall prevalence of infection by feline haemoplasmas was 43.43% (139/320), where 41.56% (133/320) corresponded to Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum (CMhm), 12.81% (41/320) to Mycoplasma haemofelis (Mhf), 4.38% (14/320) to Candidatus Mycoplasma haematoparvum and 1.25% (4/320) to Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis. Almost 13% (47/320) of the samples were co-infected, with the most common co-infection being CMhm and Mhf (23.74%). Infection was found statistically significant with feline immunodeficiency/feline leukaemia virus status (P = 0.034), but no significant association was found for breed, sex, fertility status (neutered/spayed/entire), age, clinical status, living conditions (in/outdoor), anaemia status, or the presence/absence of ticks or fleas. Cats from north-central Portugal are infected with all the known feline haemoplasma species, with CMhm being the most common one. Prevalence of all feline haemoplasmas was higher than that reported previously in cats from other European countries, but similar to that described in Portugal for dogs. These data provide a better perspective regarding Mycoplasma species infection in Europe, and new information that helps us better understand feline haemoplasmosis

The aim of this study was to describe the work Quality of Life (WQL) and perceived leadership style by administrative staff / and health care personnel in a oncological center and estimate the association between them, considering sociodemographic characteristics. We applied the Professional Life Questionnaire [PLQ-35] and Pitcher Adjectives Test [PAT]. In general, participants have a satisfactory WQL, mainly characterized by intrinsic motivation, which was most evident in the care team. Respect to leadership, there was perceived lack of leadership or undesirable features of it, which not determines the WQL but constitute a modulator factor. Sociodemographic variables were not related to the WQL. Finally it highlights the social responsibility that managers have on welfare of health workers, and consequently, on the patient care. We discuss these findings, and the relevance of utilize the emerging categories of PA

Polyphenolic profile and antioxidant activities of Madeiran elderberry (Sambucus lanceolata) as affected by simulated in vitro digestion

The aims of this study were twofold: a) to provide a detailed report on the phenolic composition and antioxidant activity of fresh berries and leaves of Sambucus lanceolata (Madeiran elderberry); b) to study the effects caused by a simulated in vitro digestion on the composition and antioxidant activity of the berries and leaves. Seventy-seven phytochemicals, mainly polyphenols, were identified in the methanol extracts of fresh berries and leaves, with the content of polyphenols higher in berries (27.2mg·g-1 dry extract, DE) than in leaves (25.9mg·g-1 DE). Anthocyanins were dominant in berries, while hydroxycinnamic acids (HCAs) and flavonols were abundant in leaves. Higher antioxidant activities were found in leaves than in berries, using several in vitro assays. After the simulated in vitro digestion, the levels of polyphenols were significantly reduced, in particular those of berries (81.8% decrease). Anthocyanins were the most affected compounds during the simulated digestion. However, despite the significant loss of phenolic compounds during digestion, methanol extracts of digested berries and leaves were still able to scavenge free-radicals. Hence, the consumption of leaves and/or berries of S. lanceolata may help prevent oxidative stress. The authors wish to express their gratitude to Madeira Natural Park, and to Francisco Fernandes and José Carvalho from Madeira Botanical Garden for the identification of plant material.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
