Understanding the Trends of European Startup Ecosystems

The world faces numerous crises, being the economic and financial crisis, the more worrying crisis and which people become more aware, to find solutions to various problems, namely unemployment, especially youth unemployment. Throughout the evolution of the world, entrepreneurship phenomenon went hand in hand with economic and technological development, providing new businesses with innovative concepts, responding to people's needs. Today, entrepreneurship continues to be important to the economies, as it adds new companies with value by presenting people with talent, with creative sense and innovative products and services. With technological development and financial assistance from investors or government, we have witnessed an exponential growth of startups over the past few years. Entrepreneurial education also encouraged this development, presenting conferences and workshops, calling students to innovation, creating your own startup. In reply to the growth and development of European ecosystems, this research work was developed to analyze the reality of European ecosystems. The aim is to understand whether there are trends in choosing economic sectors, business models and pricing models. This investigation is composed by an extensive literature review to startups and startup ecosystem and by an empirical study to startups’ perception concerning to this subject. To acquire empirical data it was conducted an online questionnaire directed to a sample of startups registered on online platform. This study confirmed the existence of trends by information gathered from online platform and the online questionnaire. It is proposed a recommendation, which will help to continue the investigations concerning to this subject

Mathematics and language: perspectives of Wittgenstein's philosophy for math education

This text aims to analyze the importance of the emphasis on the use of language in the teaching activities and the learning of mathematics. The Mathematics Education with emphasis on the communication between teacher and student can elucidate the meanings of a mathematical statement. On educational actions, such communication allows the clarification of the mathematical vocabulary, as well the necessity to search in natural language the support for the translation of the mathematical language. The interpretation of mathematical rules that are linked to the contexts where they are inserted, can find many senses, because in the application of mathematics in empirical situations, we do not find the logical necessity that is part of the self-movement of mathematics. In order to choose strategies that enhance the teaching this subject it is important that teachers know the characteristics of mathematics, such as its intra theoretical movement and the consequences of its applications in empyrean. These issues discussed here, are based on the philosophy of Wittgenstein and some of his commentators, as well as in research from mathematics educators that corroborate with this line of research

What we know about volunteer tourism - an approach to motivations and impacts

Generally defined as an activity in which people decide to volunteer in development or conservation projects, voluntourism is one of the most fast-growing alternative tourism markets, arousing interest from several different people and creating an increasing number of volunteers. These developments are being used by many organisations as a way of using volunteers’ expertise as important benefits. Our paper analyses and describes the concept of voluntourism, as well as the motivations that drive the volunteers, and the impacts or benefits of their projects’ experience in the host community and in themselves. We did a literature review, firstly using a bibliometric analysis, to deeply understand and categorise the generic concept. Secondly, we did ten exploratory online interviews/questionnaires to volunteers with experiences in international volunteering programs. The results show that this topic has become a trend in recent years and that understanding the motivations of volunteers as well as the benefits and impacts of the projects are essential to the development of voluntourism.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Aprendizagem da matemática: interpretação de símbolos e aplicação de regras

Os textos matemáticos podem ser escritos por meio da linguagem natural e/ou da linguagem matemática. A primeira é polissêmica, a segunda é codificada e pretende ter um sentido único. A linguagem matemática não possui oralidade e utiliza a linguagem natural para ser lida. Textos matemáticos possuem um resíduo - aquilo que foi extinto no processo de formalização - que precisa ser interpretado para que o texto tenha sentido. Estes textos são governados por regras matemáticas e regras gramaticais que subtendem conceitos matemáticos, pois a matemática é um jogo de signos segundo regras relacionadas com a formação de conceitos. Aplicar uma regra de decodificação é traduzir o texto que está codificado para descobrir uma determinação conceitual e transforma-lo em palavras com sentido. Um dos problemas de aprendizagem na matemática é a interpretação de seus enunciados e assim, nos propomos analisar a tradução de códigos matemáticos por palavras da linguagem natural, porém elas mudam de sentido conforme o contexto em que são empregadas. Nosso referencial teórico está pautado na filosofia da linguagem de Ludwig Wittgenstein, bem como em algumas pesquisas de educadores matemáticos que trabalham nesta perspectiva

Os hábitos de sono e suas implicações em contexto educativo

Relatório final apresentado para a obtenção do grau de mestre em Educação pré- escolar e em Ensino do 1.º ciclo doensino básicoO presente relatório de estágio apresenta, de forma sucinta, o percurso desenvolvido ao longo de três semestres. A primeira parte é referente aos estágios curriculares. Na segunda parte apresenta-se o trabalho de investigação, do qual, os objetivos principais passam por perceber se os hábitos de sono têm repercussões no contexto educativo e conhecer as estratégias de promoção de hábitos de sono dos profissionais de educação. A investigação é de natureza qualitativa, assentando na análise descritiva do questionário implementado aos pais e da análise das entrevistas às educadoras e professoras. A amostra foi composta por vinte sujeitos, sendo dezasseis por questionário e quatro por entrevista. Constatou-se que educadoras e professoras estão atentas às repercussões dos hábitos do sono, mas sentem necessidade de saber mais informação e organização nas suas práticas, para facilitar o descanso das crianças e auxiliar os pais na implementação de rotinas saudáveis. No final, encontram-se as considerações finais da investigação e uma reflexão sobre o percurso académico desenvolvido no mestrado.This internship report presents, briefly, the course developed over three semesters. The first part is related to traineeships. The second part presents the research work, which, the main objectives undergo realize if sleep habits have repercussions in the educational context and about promotion strategies sleep habits of education professionals. The research is qualitative, relying on descriptive analysis of the questionnaire implemented to parents and analysis of interviews with educators and teachers. The sample consisted of twenty subjects, sixteen for four questionnaire interview. Found was found that educators and teachers are attentive to the effects of sleep habits, but feel the need to know more information and organization in their practices to facilitate the rest of the children and assist parents to implement healthy routines. Configuração emocional e tomada de decisão em pacientes depressivos com e sem tentativa de suicidio

O objectivo deste estudo foi o de investigar se existem diferenças a nível de reactividade emocional bem como, na capacidade de decisão entre pacientes depressivos e pacientes depressivos com tentativa de suicídio. Método: 30 pacientes com depressão e tentativa de suicídio (M idades = 41.13 e DP = 7.76) e 30 pacientes com depressão sem tentativa de suicídio (M idades = 48,20 e DP = 6.02) de ambos os géneros foram avaliados pelo Mini-Mental State Examination (MMST), Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) e Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Os participantes observaram também um filme de conteúdo tristeza e seguidamente preencheram a Escala de Emoções, Sensações e Cognições (EESC96) resultante da versão modificada da Differencial Emotion Scale desenvolvida por Izard (Queirós, 1997). Ao grupo de depressão com tentativa de suicídio aplicou-se também o Beck Suicide Inventory (BSI) para fins de exclusão/inclusão na amostra. Resultados: Os resultados revelam que pacientes com depressão e tentativa de suicídio apresentam um maior loading emocional e maiores défices na capacidade de decisão em comparação com o grupo de pacientes com depressão sem tentativa de suicídio

Linguagem matemática e comunicação: Um enfoque interdisciplinar

This paper aims to suggest an interdisciplinary approach that seeks to a communication between student and teacher in the teaching and learning of mathematical language. This approach is treated from different point of view perspectives: the philosophical discusses the nature of mathematical object, the anthropological points to the relationship that provides the student with mathematical objects and their representations, the historic talks about the discourse that speaks of difficulty of mathematics, the psychological stresses the student's cognitive process when dealing with mathematical concepts, and discusses the semiotic representations of mathematical objects. Therefore, it is analyzed the implications of some features of mathematical language in the processes of teaching and their learning, and reflects on the role of communication in this process involving the following topics: the relationship between natural language and mathematical language, and the language games as a way of life for which there is communication between teacher and studentEste texto tem o objetivo de sugerir um enfoque interdisciplinar que visa à comunicação entre aluno e professor no processo de ensino e de aprendizagem da linguagem matemática. Esse enfoque é tratado sob o ponto de vista de diferentes olhares: o filosófico discute a natureza do objeto matemático; o antropológico aponta para a relação que o aluno estabelece com os objetos matemáticos e as suas representações; o histórico discorre sobre o discurso que fala da dificuldade da matemática; o psicológico destaca o processo cognitivo do aluno quando lida com conceitos matemáticos; e o semiótico trata das representações dos objetos matemáticos.
