This study set a model to predict the e ect of corporate social responsibility and green image on visit intention in small and medium-size towns (SMST). At present, there is a keen social awareness towards environmental problems, and cities are required to reduce their ecological footprint and make more sustainable use of natural resources. Increasingly, tourists are considering “green options” in their decision making. The questionnaire responses, obtained from a sample of 221 tourism in Malaga town (Spain) were analyzed using a Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to test the research hypothesis related to the positive influence of sustainability practices, green image, trust with the intention of revisiting related to the loyalty of the destination. This study shows that there is a positive relationship between sustainability practices and re-visit intention and between the green image and re-visit intention, both directly and indirectly, through trust. Also, the fact that this relationship is more significant if it is part of the green image than if it is part of sustainability actions. To practice, this study provides managerial implications to help executives adopt green actions, thanks to their positive e ects on tourist loyalty and the di erent way of manifesting this loyalty.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

New and cutting-edge technologies causing deep changes in societies, playing the role of game modifiers, and having a significant impact on global markets in small and medium-sized towns in Europe (SMSTEs) are the focus of this research. In this context, an analysis was carried out to identify the main dimensions of a model for promoting innovation in SMSTEs. The literature review on the main dimensions boosting the innovation in SMSTEs and the methodological approach was the application of a survey directed to experts on this issue. The findings from the literature review reflect that technologies, governance, and sustainability dimensions are enablers of SMSTEs’ innovation, and based on the results of the survey, a model was implemented to boost innovation, being this the major add-on of this research.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Following the Track of Events: Between the Zone of Non-Being and Radical Absence

In this paper, it is argued that the event is a central dimension of current philosophical and epistemological reflections. The aim is to produce a critical reflection about it seen from two crucial areas of contemporary thought: Frantz Fanon´s “zone of non-being” and Derrida´s “radical absence.” The notion of phantom is distinguished from that of specter in order to discuss the ways that an ontological and representational thought, described as ghostly, conflicts with another, disseminated and non- ontological, which the study calls spectral. This distinction is made in an attempt to render the events of emancipatory thought more complex.Fil: de Oto, Alejandro José. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Mums and their sons, dads and their daughters : panel data evidence of interdependent marginal utilities across 14 EU countries

We study how fathers and mothers income satisfaction correlates with the income satisfaction of their sons and daughters, as well as with other economic and sociodemographic variables. We estimate these correlations using data on parents and children in households surveyed in the eight waves of the European Community Household Panel- ECHP (1994-2001) for 14 EU countries. To assess the robustness of these correlations, we use siblings in the Panel and we investigate the sensitivity of the estimates with the inclusion of other control variables. We also adopt a multi-level random effects ordered probit specification, that uses step-parents in the data, to allow us to distinguish nature effects from nurture effects. Our main results show evidence of strong altruism effects, but these estimated effects differ across countries, differ between mothers and fathers, and differ between sons and daughters

Valorization of carbohydrates: dehydration of sorbitol to isosorbide in the presence of acidic zeolites

Currently, the growing interest in the use of biomass as a renewable and sustainable raw material for the production of energy, chemicals and biofuels is driving the development of new catalytic processes and technologies for its conversion. In this context, the transformation of lignocellulosic biomass can lead to a variety of platform chemicals, with a broad spectrum of applications. Sorbitol is one of the useful biomass-derived chemicals that is obtained by catalytic hydrogenation of glucose, which subsequent dehydration and intramolecular cyclization in acid medium gives rise to the formation of isosorbide. This is a high value-added chemical widely used as intermediate in the pharmaceutical industry, additive polymers such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and production of biodegradable polymers. Mineral acids such as sulphuric and hydrochloric acids have efficient catalytic properties for dehydration of sorbitol. However, the well-known drawbacks associated to homogeneous catalysis have promoted the studies of heterogeneous catalytic processes. Thus, solid acid catalysts such as zeolites, tetravalent metal phosphates and sulfated copper oxide have been reported as alternative solid catalysts. Nevertheless, sometimes, drastic experimental conditions are required to reach a high catalytic activity. In the present work, different commercial zeolites, in their protonic form, have been evaluated as acid solid catalysts for sorbitol dehydration, and several experimental variables have been optimizedUniversidad de Málaga. Trace elements contamination in an abandoned mining site in a semiarid zone

    Get PDF
The distribution of trace elements throughout mining areas is an important issue because abandoned tailings can be a major source of environmental pollution. The aim of this study was to identify the trace element content, hydric dispersion ways and its reception areas in selected zones of the abandoned mining district of Sierra Minera Cartagena-La Unión. The results obtained allowed to establish points affected by primary, secondary and tertiary contamination, according to their proximity to contamination sources, as a function of its chemical and mineralogical composition. Applied GIS methodology allowed visualisation and confirmation of established conceptual model

Study based on electronic descriptors of the diastereoselective aza-diels-alder cycloaddition of [(1r)-10-(n,n-diethylsulfamoyl)isobornyl] 2h-azirine-3-carboxylate to e,e-1,4-diacetoxy-1,3-butadiene

Cycloaddition of chiral [(1R)-10-(N,N-diethylsulfamoyl)isobornyl] 2H-azirine-3-carboxylate to E,E-1,4-diacetoxy-1,3-butadiene shows complete diatereoselectivity giving a single cycloadduct (-)-(2S,5R,6R)-6-[(1R)-10-(N,N-diethylsulfamoyl)isobornyloxycarbonyl]-1-azabicyclo[4.1.0]hept-3-ene-2,5-diyldiacetate. Our main objective is to identify electronic/steric parameters capable of describing the observed tendencies of this reaction. The results of the calculations conclude that: even though the steric factors can play an important role at the initial steps of the reaction, at the transition states the behavior of several electronic parameters; like hardness, polarizability, aromaticity, charge transfer, etc is decisive enough to justify the obtained product. Finally, this work summarizes an exhaustive analysis of electronic descriptors and empirical reactivity principles, reaching a definitive and comprehensive explanation to the observed experimental result. Thanks to Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) for partial financial support (project PTDC/QUI/67407/2006

This research work bases its action on the study of efficient guiding of the adjustment of the reverse Voronoi, that is, starting from a tessellation in the plane, it is sought to place a node so that the regions of influence of these nodes adjust as best as possible to the initial Voronoi tessellation. Its an NP-hard problem and an heuristic tool known as si mulated annealing has been used to treat it, modulated with the ability to accept node configurations that worse the result in order to escape of local minimums and maximums. An attempt has also been made to seek innovation and apply negotiation techniques bet ween nodes in order to improve the results of executions of the classic simulated annealing.Grado en Ingeniería de Computadore
