Titanium dioxide was immobilized on soda-lime glass substrates and glassy carbon substrates by two techniques: material printing and chemical vapour deposition. Two methods of sol preparation were used; sol-gel and hydrothermal synthesis. Morphology of all prepared titania layers were studied by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy analysis. Crystallite phase of prepared TiO2 was determined using XRD analysis. Photoinduced superhydrophilicity was examined using the sessile drop method. Photocatalytic activity was investigated as a degradation rate of 2,6-dichloroindophenol or formic acid. We studied the influence of sol-loading and amount of PEG on final activity in case of sol-gel process. PEG was added as an anticracking agent. The influence of time and temperature of hydrothermal synthesis or amount of layers on final efficiency was examined for hydrothermally synthesized samples. The influence of different intensities of irradiation was investigated for the layers deposited by CVD process. The activity of titania thin films prepared by material printing and CVD process was compared and the best sample was evaluated.

Colletotrichum truncatum is the most common pathogen fungus associated with soybean anthracnose. Although the lignin-degrading enzyme laccase has been implicated in pathogenicity of a wide range of plant pathogenic fungi, its biological role in the Colletotrichum -soybean disease system is unknown. The extent of the infection in our country led us to examine laccase production in Argentinean Colletotrichum strains isolated from diseased soybean plants from different geographic locations. Ten strains (eight of them identified as C. truncatum) , were screened for in vitro laccase production. Only six of the isolates, all of them C. truncatum , produced laccase activity when cultured on a defined medium based on pectin and asparagine as carbon and nitrogen sources, respectively. Strain BAFC 3102 (isolated from Chaco province), yielded the highest laccase titers (44 U/L) in this medium. Denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of extracellular culture fluids revealed one band with laccase activity (mol wt 67 kDa). CuSO 4 addition to media with either glucose or pectin as carbon sources increased up to 7-fold laccase production (280 U/L in the glucose medium), but the pattern of isoenzyme was not affected by culture age or medium composition. This is the first report on laccase production by C. truncatum.Fil: Levin, Laura Noemí. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Resistant estimates for high dimensional and functional data based on random projections

    Get PDF
We herein propose a new robust estimation method based on random projections that is adaptive and, automatically produces a robust estimate, while enabling easy computations for high or infinite dimensional data. Under some restricted contamination models, the procedure is robust and attains full efficiency. We tested the method using both simulated and real data.Comment: 24 pages, 6 figure

Regional railway transport funding in conditions of the Czech Republic and in the Pilsen region

    Get PDF
Present situation in financing of regional railway transport does not allow sustainable development of transport services in a region and also often leads to further worsening of situation in rolling stock financing. This paper describes basic problems related to financing of regional transport services from regional budgets. Stability of regional railway transport financing in the future provides the resolution of government of the Czech Republic No. 1132/2009 from the 31st August 2009, for the renewal of rolling stock will be possible to get grants from the Regional operational program (ROP). Regional authorities have to decide how to prepare the long-term contract concerning the public service obligation. The question is how to choose the operator of regional trains and how to get the highest quality of provided services from amount incurred

BOOK REVIEW International/Transnational Relations (Vasile Puscas)

Published in English, as the author himself states in the “Introduction”, the volume addresses mainly the academic field – undergraduate students, MA students, PhD candidates, professors, and nevertheless, all who are interested in the study of International Relations (politicians, mass-media and administration representatives). Considering these circumstances, the printing of this scholarly work is all the more praised as the scientific research in our country has evolved in most of the sub-fields of International Relations, while starting to harmonize with the main European trends.International/Transnational Relations
