La Enseñanza de las ciencias escolares en la Revista de Pedagogía (1922-1936)
La Revista de Pedagogía (1922-1936) va aportar una valuosa informació al
professorat sobre la renovació i millora de l'escola a través de la difusió de les
innovacions metodològiques més rellevants de la pedagogia del seu temps. Centrantnos
en l'ensenyament de les ciències escolars, en aquest treball mostrem com aquesta
revista va tractar de millorar la precària situació de l'educació científica espanyola,
va contribuir a la introducció de l'ensenyament de les matèries científiques en el
currículum escolar, i va impulsar la formació i actualització científica del professorat,
publicant i informant sobre manuals, llibres de text i de lectura científics, facilitant
una àmplia documentació relativa a recursos didàctics, material d'ensenyament,
cursos de perfeccionament o congressos relacionats amb l'ensenyament de les ciències experimentals. Finalment, va publicar nombroses experiències dutes a terme des de la
pràctica docent a l'aula per professors innovadors en l'àrea de ciències. En definitiva,
la Revista de Pedagogía contribuí decisivament a la introducció, la difusió i posada
en pràctica de noves orientacions metodològiques per a l'ensenyament de les ciències
escolars.The Revista de Pedagogía (1922-1936) provided teachers with valuable
information and school improvement by means of the dissemination of the most
relevant methodological innovations of the period. Focusing on school science
education, this paper shows how this magazine tried to improve the precarious state
of scientific education in Spain, contributing to the introduction of the teaching of
scientific subjects in the curriculum. It also promoted scientific training and updating
among teachers. Besides, it published manuals, textbooks and scientific readings,
and provided extensive documentation on teaching resources, teaching materials,
advanced classes or conferences related to teaching experimental sciences. Finally, it
published numerous experiments concerning teaching classroom practices carried
out by innovative teachers in the area of science. In short, the Revista de Pedagogía
contributed decisively to the introduction, dissemination and implementation of new

de perfeccionamiento o congresos relacionados con la enseñanza de las ciencias
experimentales. Por último, publicó numerosas experiencias llevadas a cabo desde
la práctica docente en el aula por profesores innovadores en el área de ciencias. En

El verbo como elemento caracterizador del lenguaje jurídico del siglo XVI
En este trabajo se aborda el lenguaje especial de un texto legal, una acción civil de 1553. El verbo se analiza como una característica básica de este tipo de lenguaje, sobre todo los usos del futuro hipotético, la coordinación de los diferentes tiempos verbales, la iteración de los sinónimos y la expresión en + gerundio. En estos textos, las características legales coexisten con el lenguaje cotidiano de las personas que viven en el siglo XVI, a pesar de su resistencia a la innovación.This paper deals with the special language of a legal text, a civil action of 1553. The verb is analysed as a basic characteristic of this type of language, especially the uses of the hypothetical future, the coordination of different verbal tenses, the iteration of synonyms and the expression en + gerund. In these texts, legal features coexist with the everyday language of people living in the sixteenth century, despite their resistance to innovation.notPeerReviewe
Motivation for seeking headship in compulsory education centres: A qualitative approach
Es un hecho constatado que el liderazgo de los directores de los centros educativos es una de las claves del cambio. Su impacto, bien sea de carácter directo o indirecto, ha sido evidenciado en la mejora de los resultados académicos del alumnado, la contribución al desarrollo profesional del equipo docente y la creación y cultivo de comunidades de aprendizaje. Este estudio pretende reconocer cuáles son los motivos que conducen a los directores a acceder al cargo, así como el carácter de su decisión. Para ello, se ha seleccionado de forma intencionada, y con la ayuda de tres inspectores de la Conselleria de Educación, Ciencia y Deporte, a 100 directores de centros de Educación Infantil y Primaria, y Educación Secundaria de la provincia de Alicante. Para la recogida de datos se diseñó una entrevista con preguntas de carácter abierto. Los datos fueron procesados con el programa de análisis cualitativo AQUAD 7. A partir del mismo, se reconoce que la decisión de acceder al cargo es principalmente de carácter individual y que está condicionada fundamentalmente por motivaciones personales. Sin embargo, tales intenciones responden más a una visión institucional y social, que individualista. En relación al perfil de los directores, se aprecia un cariz más social de la decisión de acceso al cargo en las mujeres y los veteranos docentes. Estos datos nos llevan a la conclusión de que conviene prestar atención a las razones que conducen a los directores a acceder al cargo para, desde su reconocimiento, alentar una decisión que cada día menos docentes están dispuestos a tomar.It is a proven fact that the leadership of headteachers is one of the keys to change. Its impact, whether direct or indirect, has been shown to improve the academic performance of students, to contribute to the professional development of the teaching staff and to develop and cultivate learning communities. This study aims to recognise what motivates headteachers to seek office, and the nature of their decision. In order to study this, 100 headteachers of Infant, Primary and Secondary schools in the province of Alicante were intentionally selected with the help of three inspectors from the Regional Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. An open-question interview was designed for the purpose of data collection. Data were processed using AQUAD 7 qualitative analysis programme. It was recognised that the decision to access the position of headteacher was primarily individual in nature and largely influenced by personal motives. But such intentions were found to be the reflection of an institutional and social perspective, rather than of an individualist one. As far as the headteachers’ profile is concerned, it was identified that the decision by female and veteran teachers to seek office had a more social tenor. The data led to the conclusion that the reasons that drive headteachers to take up the position need to be attended to and recognised in order to encourage a decision that fewer and fewer teachers are willing to make
Exploring how tutors in higher education perceive their work and what direction they think it should take in the future: A case study
University tutoring is a complex area of study involving various factors and agents whose actions are context-dependent. This qualitative study aims to analyse and interpret the experiences of tutors in the course of their work. The participants were 68 tutors, each from one of the seven centres belonging to the University of Alicante (Spain). We carried out conventional and summative content analyses using AQUAD 7 software. The results show that tutors’ feelings are generally positive, though they become disillusioned if students decide to drop tutoring. Nevertheless, the few students that persevere are enough to encourage tutors to reflect on possible improvements to the tutoring programme. Health Related Quality of Life in Coronary Patients.
The increase observed in the survival of patients with ischemic cardiopathy, together with
the effect of the disease on the social, professional, and family life of those suffering from it,
have led researchers to consider that the traditional ways of measuring morbidity and
mortality are not adequate for assessing the potential benefits of health care interventions.
For this reason, there is common agreement on the need to use an indicator of subjective
assessment of health, and of health related quality of life (HRQL), as a complementary
criterion for monitoring the results of medical interventions in these patients.
The term "quality of life" (QoL) or health related quality of life (HRQL) came into use during
the 1970s as a multidimensional concept reflecting the overall subjective condition of the
physical and mental welfare of the individual, which is a consequence not only of the
disease but also of the family and social conditions forming the patient’s environment.
The assessment of these patients’ HRQL has been tackled by several authors using both
disease-specific and generic instruments such as the Nottingham Health Profile, the Sickness
Impact Profile, the SF-36 or the SF-12 health questionnaire. Both types of instrument have
advantages and disadvantages, and they may provide additional information since they
quantify the patient’s overall health.
Using different multidimensional measures, poorer HRQL has been observed in patients
with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) and angina pectoris than in other populations, and
these differences have been related to low social class, female sex, the presence of mental
disorders and the severity of the clinical condition.
Measuring changes in the HRQL of coronary patients is also important as a way of assessing
interventions and predicting needs for social care, because it has been shown that the focus
of attention in the immediate period following a cardiac attack is generally the physical
functioning, but following discharge from hospital and in the longer term, general health,
vitality, social and emotional functions could be at least as important.
In this chapter, we aim to provide an overview of the concept of HRQL and the usefulness
of this measure from the perspective of a coronary patient. Likewise, we intend to review
the main instruments used to assess HRQL and we analyse the factors that have been seen
to affect the quality of life of these patients

Factors influencing the choice of a university degree: the case of recreation, parks and tourism administration studies
The aim of this research is to analyze students´ expectations that have an influence on choosing Leisure and Recreation as an academic major. According to the analysis of this research on the reasons for choosing Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration studies at a university in the United States, the conclusions reached show that among multiple factors, the expectations of having collaborative and situated learning experiences are one of the main reasons for choosing these studies, as well as the job opportunities that this degree offers. The results of this research evidence the high degree of emotionality affecting this decision. The conclusions of this study may be useful for designing Leisure and Recreation curriculums

Temperamento y conducta sexual
EI objetivo de este estudio piloto es analizar las relaciones entre las dimensiones del temperamento y la conducta sexual. A un grupo de 28 parejas casadas se les administró el Cuestionario de Personalidad (EPI) de Eysenck, la Escala de Dimensiones del Temperamento (DOTS-R) de Windle y Lerner y el Cuestionario de Conducta Sexual de Eysenck y Wakelfield. En ambos sexos la dimensión temperamental relacionada mas significativa y positivamente con la conducta sexual es la cualidad positiva del hu- mor. Otras dimensiones con relaciones significativas con la conducta se- xual son: el nivel general de actividad alto y la flexibilidad. En el hombre también destaca la distraibilidad alta y en la mujer la conducta de acercamiento y el ritmo en los hábitos diarios. Palabras clave: Personalidad, temperamento, conducta sexual
