A software service supporting software quality forecasting

Software repositories such as source control, defect tracking systems and project management tools, are used to support the progress of software projects. The exploitation of such data with techniques like forecasting is becoming an increasing need in several domains to support decision-making processes. However, although there exist several statistical tools and languages supporting forecasting, there is a lack of friendly approaches that enable practitioners to exploit the advantages of creating and using such models in their dashboard tools. Therefore, we have developed a modular and flexible forecasting service allowing the interconnection with different kinds of databases/data repositories for creating and exploiting forecasting models based on methods like ARIMA or ETS. The service is open source software, has been developed in Java and R and exposes its functionalities through a REST API. BeeGFS in the DEEP/-ER Project

BeeGFS is a global file system developed by the Fraunhofer Institute ITWM, which forms the basis for the parallel I/O layer in the exascale european projects DEEP and DEEP-ER. Application of PCR-DGGE for the identification of lactic acid bacteria in acitve dry wine yeasts

In this work a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)-Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis (DGGE) protocol was used to identify the Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) contaminants in enological active dry yeasts routinely used in the wine production. La articulación de la memoria histórica en Drawings for projection, de William Kentridge

The consideration of the animation series Drawings for Projection (William Kentridge, 1989-2011) as an incisive reflection on the concept of historical memory is systematized in this article from various creative aspects. Artistic techniques, film language and the reflection of the author’s identity into the two main characters aim to explore the reminder of South African Apartheid and its termination, in parallel with the sessions of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Representative elements of historical, collective and individual memory in the series also allow to asses changes in the process, regarding that the series were originally composed by nine titles to which Kentridge added a tenth in 2011.La consideración de la serie de animación Drawings for Projection (William Kentridge, 1989-2011) como una reflexión incisiva sobre el concepto de memoria histórica, se sistematiza en este artículo en el estudio de distintos aspectos creativos. La técnica artística, el lenguaje cinematográfico, la traducción de la identidad de autor a sus dos principales personajes y la relación de elementos representativos de la memoria histórica, colectiva e individual tienen como objetivo explorar la representación del recuerdo del Apartheid sudafricano y su terminación, de forma paralela a las sesiones de la Comisión para la Verdad y la Reconciliación. El hecho de que la serie estuviera compuesta en un principio por nueve títulos y en 2011 Kentridge produjese un décimo para valorar los cambios en el proceso, expone la complejidad de concluir cualquier esfuerzo de rescate del pasado

The relationship of burnout and academic engagement in the academic performance of secondary education and university students: a systematic review.

Introducción: Una de las preocupaciones educativas durante los últimos años es el rendimiento académico del alumnado, es por ello, que muchas investigaciones han intentado analizar los factores que influyen en el mismo, entre los que se encuentran el burnout académico y el engagement. Objetivo: Esta revisión sistemática tiene como objetivo estudiar a través de la revisión de literatura de qué manera afecta el burnout académico y el engagement en el rendimiento académico. Metodología: Para hacer posible dicho objetivo se ha hecho uso de distintas bases de datos, concretamente de Dialnet Plus, Psicodoc, Proquest y EBSCO. En todas se han seguido unos criterios de inclusión referentes al idioma inglés o español, que la información tratase sobre el engagement y/o el burnout y el rendimiento académico y que afectasen a estudiantes de secundaria o universidad. Resultados: Los diferentes estudios analizados, reflejan una relación positiva entre el rendimiento académico y el engagement y una relación negativa entre el rendimiento académico y el burnout, así como también entre el burnout y el engagement. Asimismo, se ha obtenido información que señala que el burnout afecta en mayor medida a los niveles educativos superiores, así como que la edad no es un indicador que afecte con distinciones. En cuanto al sexo se han hallado diferencias, pues no existe un consenso de ideas que constate el grado de incidencia del burnout en un sexo u otro. Existe un acuerdo que indica que aquellos estudiantes que están realizando un voluntariado poseen un mayor nivel de engagement que aquellos que están cursando un nivel académico distinto a este. Conclusión: En la actualidad son numerosos los factores de riesgo que pueden afectar al desempeño óptimo por parte de aquellos que presentan burnout. Es por esto que es importante investigar acerca del mismo para actuar en consonancia y tratar de mejorar lIntroduction: One of the educational concerns in recent years is the academic performance of students, which is why many investigations have tried to analyze the factors that influence it, among which are academic burnout and engagement. Objective: This systematic review aims to study through the literature review how academic burnout and engagement affect academic performance. Methodology: To make this objective possible, different databases have been used, specifically Dialnet Plus, Psicodoc, Proquest and EBSCO. In all of them, certain inclusion criteria have been followed regarding the English or Spanish language, that the information dealt with engagement and/or burnout and academic performance and that it affected high school or university students. Results: The different studies analyzed reflect a positive relationship between academic performance and engagement and a negative relationship between academic performance and burnout, as well as between burnout and engagement. Likewise, information has been obtained that indicates that burnout affects higher educational levels to a greater extent, as well as that age is not an indicator that affects with distinctions. In terms of sex, differences have been found, since there is no consensus of ideas that confirms the degree of incidence of burnout in one sex or another. There is an agreement that indicates that those students who are volunteering have a higher level of engagement than those who are studying at a different academic level. Conclusion: Currently there are numerous risk factors that can affect optimal performance by those who present burnout. This is why it is important to investigate about it to act accordingly and try to improve educational quality.a calidad educativa

Práctica de la actividad física en trabajadores de universidad

Objetivo: conocer los niveles de actividad física, salud y calidad de vida de dos grupos de personal universitario, personal docente investigador (PDI) y personal administración y servicios (PAS). Metodología: se utilizó el cuestionario IPAQ para calcular los equivalentes metabólicos (METs) y determinar si la actividad física (AF) es baja, moderada o alta. Además se calculó el índice de masa corporal (IMC) para clasificar la muestra en infrapeso, normal, sobrepeso y obesidad. Por otra parte, se dividió la muestra en dos grupos considerando la edad (≤49 años y ≥50 años) para determinar si existe relación por un lado entre la edad y cantidad de actividad física y por otro entre edad e IMC. Se realizaron los análisis descriptivos y se aplicó el test de Pearson para determinar la relación entre las variables estudiadas. Resultados: existe una correlación significativa entre la variable género y el IMC (r=0.505; p<0.050). El 80% de mujeres y el 36,2% de hombres tienen un IMC normal. El 55% de mujeres y el 44,7% de hombres realizan un nivel de AF alto, el 15% de mujeres y el 31,9% de hombres presentan un nivel de AF moderado, y por último el 30% de mujeres y el 23,4% de hombres se encuentran en el nivel de AF bajo. Conclusiones: los resultados obtenidos reflejan que el IMC de los encuestados es normal y que el nivel práctica de actividad física es alto en su mayoría. No hay relación entre la edad y el IMC, ni entre edad y nivel de actividad física; ABSTRACT:Objective: to determine levels of physical activity, health and quality of life from two university staff groups: 1) teaching and research staff (PDI); 2) administrative and service staff (PAS). Methodology: IPAQ questionnaire was used to calculate metabolic equivalents (METs) and determine whether Physical Activity (PA) is low, moderate or high. We also calculated the Body Mass Index (BMI) to classify the sample in: underweight, normal, overweight and obesity. Moreover, the sample was divided into two groups according to age (≤ 49 years and ≥ 50 years), to determine the existence of a relationship between the age and the amount of physical activity on the one hand and between age and BMI on the other hand. Descriptive analyzes were performed and Pearson test was applied to determine the relationship between studied variables. Results: we found a significant correlation between the gender variable and BMI (r = 0.505, P <0.050). 80% of women and 36.2% of men have a normal BMI. 55% of women and 44.7% of men perform a high AF level, 15% of women and 31.9% of men have a moderate AF level, and finally, 30% of women and 23.4% of men are in the low level of AF. Conclusions: results show that respondents BMI is normal and that the physical activity level is mostly high. There is no relationship between Age and BMI, nor between Age and Physical Activity Level
