Robert Herrick\u27s Hesperides and the renaissance Querelle des Femmes .

Robert Herrick\u27s Hesperides is a volume of poetry preoccupied with the feminine. Indeed, the presentation of women in Hesperides reflects a larger cultural preoccupation with the feminine seen in Renaissance literature in general and in the cultural documents of the querelle des femmes (1540-1648) in particular. This Renaissance preoccupation with the feminine, in turn, displays both a blatant and latent cultural misogyny. In the documents of the querelle des femmes women are discussed in their various social roles: mother, wife, and daughter. Though the ostensible concern of these texts is the female role within the family and society, an idiom of sexuality is established through an emphasis on the female body. Hesperides is a concentrated example, as it were, of well established literary paradigms of misogyny and the cultural paradigms of misogyny seen in the querelle des femmes. Centered on the grotesque female body, Herrick\u27s vulgar epigrams display his overt misogyny. This grotesque body can, in turn, be related to a maternal figure. The latent misogyny in Hesperides is concealed in the amorous poetry. Herrick\u27s love poetry is ambiguous. Though ostensibly concerned with woman as an erotic object, the amorous poems enact strategies of avoidance and displacement which express the same horror toward the feminine seen in the coarse epigrams. Through an examination of the psychological patterns of the voyeurism and fetishism in Herrick\u27s love poetry a paradigm of triangulation emerges. Allowing for the absent maternal presence in Hesperides, this paradigm of erotic triangulation provides a basis for the contradictory nature of the misogyny in Hesperides--the maternal figure is both longed for and unavailable, the male child\u27s first love and a primary reminder of castration.

Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma of the parapharyngeal space: A case report and review of the literature

This paper reports a rare case of Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS) that occurred primarily in the parapharyngeal space, in a 57-year-old woman. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of LGFMS arising from the parapharingeal space reported in the literature. Primary sarcomas of the head and neck region are very rare, accounting for approximately 1% of malignancies in this region. LGFMS is a distinctive type of soft-tissue sarcoma that was first described by Evans in 1987. LGFMS may be included in the differential diagnosis of tumors of the parapharyngeal space, and especially among the bland-looking spindle cell lesions. Despite its bland-looking morphology, this sarcoma should be recognized to avoid confusion with other bland-looking benign spindle cell lesions. Radical surgical resection with clear margins, is the treatment of choice of LGFMS. Despite its bland-looking histologic appearance, it is characterized by a malignant behavior with high rates of local recurrence and metastatic spread. For these reasones, all patients with LGFMS are recommended for long-term follow-up

Emergency room have particularly stressful work situations. Emergency room personnel cope with stressors on a daily basis. These stressors can be risks factor for burn out and for reduced quality of life and work motivation. Emergency room staff of one of ASP 3 CT urban hospital in Acireale, Italy participated to stress management program by autogenic training twice a month for 16 weeks. This program were prepared based on existing research and studies, and were conducted by clinical psychologists. We found that the mean value in pre-test is significantly different from mean value in post-test for: Perceived Stress Scale PPS (t=7.72 with 27 df and

______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTBACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Biomarkers are diagnostic tools which discriminate between the good health and the illness. This study had as objective to recognize the clinical application of the renal function biomarkers in the clinical practice, in order to inform the diagnostic advances of the acute kidney injury (AKI). METHODS: Descriptive study of bibliographical survey of indexed periodicals from 1975 to October, 2006, by means of the LILACS and PubMed databases. RESULTS: Were available 505 articles from the bibliographical survey in the PubMed database and 6 in the Lilacs database. 106 articles were selected and, after full reading, only 69 referred to the intended thematic approach. CONCLUSIONS: In this survey, it was verified that despite the progresses in the molecular and cellular mechanisms understanding related to AKI, there is still a gap between the comprehension and the application of effective and specific therapeutics in the prevention and control of this syndrome
