El clientelismo en México: los usos políticos de la pobreza

No abundan los estudios sobre clientelismo político en México. A diferencia de otros países, aquí la mayoría de las alusiones al tema se han circunscrito, si no supeditado o subsumido, a los abordajes genéricos referentes al fenómeno de la dominación política. Sin embargo, esta práctica fue consustancial al sistema corporativo en donde se practicó el monopolio del poder y, ligado a éste, el uso patrimonial de los recursos públicos

UNEMPLOYMENT DURATION, UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AND RECALLS

We use administrative micro-data to investigate exits from unemployment of benefit recipients in Spain. Because the data allow us to distinguish between transitions to a new job and recall to the same employer, we apply a competing risks model with observed and unobserved heterogeneity. We are also able to control for the type of benefit received by the worker: insurance benefit or assistance benefit. We find significant differences between the new job hazard and the recall hazard. Both hazard rates increase around the time that insurance benefit elapses. We also find that when larger firms recall unemployed workers they tend to do so faster than smaller firms. In general, our results are consistent with predictions derived from search and implicit contract models. They highlight the importance of taking into account the possibility of recall in the analysis of unemployment duration among unemployment benefit recipients.

Exits from unemployment : recall or new job

This paper studies transitions out of unemployment in Spain distinguishing between recall to the same employer and reemployment in a new job. We use a large sample of newly unemployed workers obtained from Social Security records for Spain. These data contain information about each individual's employer identy before and after the unemployment spell. A discrete-time duration model with competing risks of exits serves us to investigate the factors that influence the probabilities of leaving unemployment to return to the same employer or to find a new job with a different employer. We find that the route to exit unemployment is determinant to understand the influence of individual an job characteristics on the hazard rate, as well as the latter dependence on unemployment duration. The recall hazard rate exhibits positive duration dependence during the first months and negative duration dependence thereafter (it is larger for females), while the new-job hazard presents positive duration dependence (it is larger for males

El caso de Memento: una memoria nietzscheana en el cine postmoderno

En el siguiente artículo realizaré un análisis de las relaciones entre la filosofía de la historia de Nietzsche y el papel que se otorga a la memoria en el cine posmoderno, prestando especial atención a la película Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2000). Para ello me basaré principalmente en la II Intempestiva Sobre la utilidad y el perjuicio de la historia para la vida del pensador alemán, aunque recurriré también a otros textos como Sobre verdad y mentira en sentido extramoral. Bajo este marco analizaré la relación de Lenny, el protagonista del film, con su pasado, recordado sólo parcialmente y constantemente remodelado de forma consciente por el propio sujeto para afrontar su vida en el presente del único modo que le puede convertir en un superviviente a su desgraciada situación.The following article will analyze the relationship between the Nietzsche's philosophy of history and the role given to memory in postmodern cinema, paying particular attention to the movie Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2000). To do this I will rely mainly on the second of Nietzsche's Untimely Meditations, On the Use and Abuse of History for Life, also calling upon other texts such as On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense. Under this framework I will analyze the relationship of Lenny, the protagonist of the film, with his past, partially reminded and constantly restructured in a concious way by the character himself to face his present life in the only way he can become a survivor in his unfortunate situation

Modificaciones sintácticas basadas en la reordenación de complementos del verbo con utilidad en esteganografía lingüística.

En la actualidad, los avances en la ciencia de la esteganografía lingüística en español abren nuevas líneas de investigación en su aplicación a la protección / privacidad de las comunicaciones digitales y en el marcado de textos. El presente artículo profundiza en el interés del uso de la reordenación de complementos del verbo en textos existentes en lengua española con utilidad en esteganografía lingüística y en el marcado digital de textos (marca de agua). At present the advances in the science of linguistic steganography in Spanish open new lines of research in its application for the protection / privacy of digital communications and in the marking of texts. This article studies the possible interest of reordering complements of the verb in existing texts in Spanish language with regard to its usefulness in linguistic steganography and in digital marking of texts (watermarks)
