Fear of leadership in pastoral ministry : a study among pastors of the Covenant of Free Evangelical Churches in Germany

Text in GermanDie vorliegende Arbeit ist der Kybernetik zuzuordnen, einer Unterdisziplin der Praktischen Theologie. In einer empirischen Untersuchung wird Führungsangst im Pastorendienst am Beispiel von Pastoren im Bund Freier evangelischer Gemeinden erforscht. Ausgangspunkt ist die Frage, welche Ängste Pastoren beim Führen haben. Dabei wird nach Ursachen, Erklärungen und Folgen dieser Ängste gefragt. Ziel ist, den Einfluss von Angst im Führungsverhalten von Pastoren besser zu verstehen, um damit bewusster umgehen zu können. Das Literatur-Kapitel erklärt Begriffe und stellt relevante Literatur dar. Dabei werden Angstklassifikationen, Angstabwehrmechanismen sowie systembedingte und individuelle Angstauslöser näher gefasst. In der empirischen Forschung wurden erfahrene Pastoren größerer Freien evangelischer Gemeinden interviewt. Die Datenanalyse erfolgte mittels der Methode Grounded Theory. Macht und Angst wurden als Tabu-Themen deutlich, die wenig reflektiert werden. Sie führen zu Konflikten, Machtkämpfen und zu überforderten, kranken oder gemobbten Pastoren. Die Arbeitshypothese wurde bestätigt: Führungsangst ist Pastoren nicht fremd. Allerdings ist sie eine verdrängte Form ihrer Arbeitsrealität und sozialen Wirklichkeit.From within the field of cybernetics, a sub-discipline of Practical Theology, the fear for roles of leadership in pastoral ministry is examined empirically, through interviewing pastors of the Covenant of Free Evangelical Churches in Germany. The specific fears pastors experience when leading congregations, as well as the causes and effects of these fears, are examined from relevant sources of literature. The classification of fear and defense mechanisms, as well as system-specific and individual-specific triggers, are also discussed. For the empirical part, experienced pastors of larger Free Evangelical Churches were interviewed and data was analyzed according to the Grounded Theory method. Power and fear are identified as factors which can lead to conflict and power struggles and to overworked or ill pastors. Seen as taboo topics, pastors tend to ignore these issues. Neue Ansätze zur Beurteilung der Fahrsimulatorvalidität

Wie ein Literaturüberblick zeigt, beschränken sich die bisher durchgeführten Studien meist auf Kennwerte der Fahrzeugstabilisierung wie z. B. die Standardabweichung der Querposition auf dem Fahrstreifen. Um den Katalog der bestehenden Kennwerte zu erweitern werden das Stufenmodell der menschlichen Informationsverarbeitung von Wickens und Hollands (2000) sowie die Drei-Ebenen-Hierarchie der Fahrzeugführung nach Donges (1982) herangezogen. Beide stellen das Fahrerverhalten im gesamten Wirkungsgefüge Fahrer-Fahrzeug-Umwelt dar und bieten so einen Ansatz systematisch nach neuen Angriffspunkten für eine Validierung zu suchen. Anhand dieser Systematik werden exemplarisch Kenngrößen ausgewählt und anhand von Daten aus Feld- und Fahrsimulatorversuchen evaluiert (z. B. Blickbewegungsanalyse)

Registration of ‘Purple Bounty’ and ‘Purple Prosperity’ hairy vetch

The hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth) cultivars ‘Purple Bounty’ (Reg. no. CV-12, PI 648342) and ‘Purple Prosperity’ (Reg. no. CV-11, PI 654047) were released in 2007 and 2008, respectively, by the USDA–ARS in collaboration with the Rodale Institute and the agricultural experiment stations of Pennsylvania State University and Cornell University. Hairy vetch is a commonly used annual legume cover crop grown for its cold tolerance, fast growth, large biomass production, and ability to fix N2. However, this species has not been selected for the traits needed to optimize its use as a cover crop. Our breeding program focused on developing a cultivar that was both early flowering and had adequate winter survival and therefore adapted to mechanical termination in organic no-till production in the U.S. Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Purple Bounty and Purple Prosperity were developed between 1998 and 2005 using recurrent selection at nurseries in Beltsville and Keedysville, MD. In 2005–2006, selections were evaluated against commercial checks for flowering time in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and in the 2006–2007 and 2007–2008 seasons they were evaluated in 10 locations (12 total site-years) across the United States for winter survival. Purple Bounty and Purple Prosperity both flowered earlier than the commercial material against which they were tested (significance depended on the date and site); Purple Bounty was the earlier flowering of the two cultivars. Purple Bounty and Purple Prosperity also had equivalent or improved winter survival compared with ‘AU Early Cover’, an early-maturing cultivar developed in the southern United States, at all test locations. Purple Prosperity is no longer commercially available, but Purple Bounty is currently licensed and distributed by Allied Seed (Nampa, ID)
