    Get PDF

The mineral nutrition of Macroptilium, Galactia, and Glycine wightii was studied in two soils of the State of S. Paulo, Brazil, mamely, a Red Yellow Podzol form Araçatuba (PVA) and a Distrophic Sant Quartz (AQD). By using the technique of diagnosis by subtraction in the greenhouse, the following conclusions could be drawn: (1) different factors limit yield in the two soils; (2) nutritional requirements, efficiency of uptake and utilization of several nutrients are not the same in the three legumes; (3) Ca as a nutrient was required in all cases, except by galactia in AQD; (4) liming AQD to pH 6,5 induced deficiencies of Zn, B, and especially Mn in the case of siratro and galactia.A técnica da diagnose por subtração foi usada para se estudar a necessidade de adubo do siratro, galactía e soja perene em dois solos do Estado de São Paulo. A produção de matéria seca foi diminuida pela omissão de S, calagem, K, P e micronutrientes

Macroptilium atvoporpureum (siratro), Galactia striata and Glycine wightii were grown in pots filled with two soil types of the State of S.Paulo, Brazil, namely, a Red Yellow Podzol from Araçatuba and a Distrophic Sand Quartz, according to the technique of diagnosis by subtraction; chemical analyses of the material provided information concerning both mineral requirements and nutrient levels in the tops destined to evaluate the nutritional status. One ton of dry matter contains the following quantities of macro (kg) and micronutrients (g) for the three species in the given order: N - 33; 22 and 29; Ca - 15; 17 and 22; P - 3.6; 1.9 and 2.6; Mg - 2 .1. ; 1.5 and 2.0; K - 54; 45 and 52; S - 2.4; 1.4 and 2.2; B - 16; 17 and 18; Mn - 642; 182 and 179; Cu - 13; 10 and 11; Zn - 57; 42 and 60; Fe - 558; 539 and 701. Maximum production of dry matter under the experimental conditions took place when the tops contained the following levels of macro (%) and micronutrients (ppm), data referring to the three species in the order already given: N - 3.39; 2.26; 3.20 Ca - 1.64; 1.76; 1.72 P - 0.33; 0.18; 0.28 Mg - 0.24; 0.16; 0.24 K - 5.60; 4.57; 5.35 S - 0.23; 0.14; 0.20 B - 18; 19; 20 Zn - 68; 59; 76 Cu - 10; 6; 9 Mn - 400; 397; 464 Fe - 539; 456; 563.O siratro, a galactia e a soja perene foram cultivados em vasos contendo dois tipos de solos, PVA de Araçatuba e AQD de São Pedro, ambos do Estado de São Paulo, sob diferentes tratamentos, de acordo com a técnica da diagnose por subtração. As plantas foram colhidas e analisadas obtendo-se dados que permitem avaliar as exigências de macro e micronutrientes das três espécies e bem assim o seu estado nutricional

Conducting the Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam in the form of an annual ritual carried out by Muslims around the world who have capabilities (in terms of material, physical, and scientific) by visiting and carrying out a series of acts of worship in accordance with the pillars that have been determined in several places in Saudi Arabia in a particular time in the month of Dhul-Hijjah known as the Hajj season. In the implementation of the hajj, the existence of the hajj hostel is one of the essential factors and is the initial gate that must be passed by a group of pilgrims before leaving for the Holy Land (Mecca). Therefore, the hajj hostel must be able to provide convenient rooms and better amenities for the occupants. Thus, they feel comfortable to stay in the hostel. The limitation discussed in this paper is related to the development of the hajj hostel, which has become the duty of the government to improve services to the community continually, particularly in conducting the hajj. The concept of the hajj hostel of East OKU is by emphasizing on the space management which focus on the outdoor and indoor space management system which is able to give a psychological effect toward East OKU pilgrims

Factorization in a torus and Riemann-Hilbert problems

A new concept of meromorphic Σ\Sigma-factorization, for H\"{o}lder continuous functions defined on a contour Γ\Gamma that is the pullback of R˙\dot{\mathbb{R}} (or the unit circle) in a Riemann surface Σ\Sigma of genus 1, is introduced and studied, and its relations with holomorphic Σ\Sigma-factorization are discussed. It is applied to study and solve some scalar Riemann-Hilbert problems in Σ\Sigma and vectorial Riemann-Hilbert problems in C\mathbb{C}, including Wiener-Hopf matrix factorization, as well as to study some properties of a class of Toeplitz operators with 2×22 \times 2 matrix symbols.Comment: accepted for publication in Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Application

Zooplankton composition and distribution off the coast of Galicia, Spain

During June and September 1984, zooplankton samples were collected with other hydrographic and biological data along the Galician coast (NW of Spain). In June copepods contributed -60% to the total zooplankton community, with larvaceans, siphonophores and cladocerans also abundant. In September >90% of the zooplankton sampled were copepods. The dominant species of copepods in both June and September were Acartia e/ausi, Paracalanus parvus and Temora longicornis. The meroplankton was dominated by echinoderms, bryozoans, barnacle larvae and bivalve larvae. In June the average zooplankton biomass was 31.08 mg e m-3; the September average was 41.69 mg e m-3 The relationship between the slopes of the regression equations (biomass versus abundance) suggests that the zooplankton assemblage in June was composed by larger animals than in September. The major concentration of zooplankton was between O and SO m, with both June and September daytime surface samples having 6-7 times the amount of organisms than the lower water column (50-100 m). There were no distinct differences in total zooplankton abundances at the inshore and offshore stations; however, the inshore stations often had a higher percentage of meroplankton than the offshore stations. In June zooplankton abundance at the northern transects and the western transects was similar. In September there were greater concentrations of zooplankton in the western Galician shelf as compared with the northern shelf. These differences in the horizontal distribution of the zooplankton were related to upwelling events.Postprin

Positivity of energy for asymptotically locally AdS spacetimes

We derive necessary conditions for the spinorial Witten-Nester energy to be well-defined for asymptotically locally AdS spacetimes. We find that the conformal boundary should admit a spinor satisfying certain differential conditions and in odd dimensions the boundary metric should be conformally Einstein. We show that these conditions are satisfied by asymptotically AdS spacetimes. The gravitational energy (obtained using the holographic stress energy tensor) and the spinorial energy are equal in even dimensions and differ by a bounded quantity related to the conformal anomaly in odd dimensions.Comment: 36 pages, 1 figure; minor corrections, JHEP versio

In a six parent tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill) diallel cross, specific heterosis was more important for marketable yield (PFC) than for its components - average weight (PMFC) and number of marketable fruit (NFC). Correlation coefficients between F1 hybrid means and parental means were larger for PMFC and NFC than for PFC. The product of PMFC by NFC parental means can be used more efficiently as an estimate of F1 hybrid PFC's than PFC parental means themselves.
